    Wouldn't this requiring annealing of some kind in order that the bangle doesn't lose its shape when it is worn?

    May I know what is the difference between this Craft Wire you have used and the Artistic Wire18 Gauge? I have tried numerous times using artistic wire to make this bracelet, followed every step in slow motion as well, but I cant seem to get the same result as you do. Please advise? =)

    Are you able to add beads and charms to it after it’s been wrapped on the Jigue or do you do that before

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 роки тому

      We've found it easiest to add the beads before wrapping the wire to the jig, we've got a video on that technique here: ua-cam.com/video/0ND_qSU8n_g/v-deo.html

    • @cat52
      @cat52 7 років тому +4

      Lindsey you can use memory wire if you don't want to use the artistic wire. But if you use 16 gauge artistic wire, that is some pretty stiff wire, and probably has more resistance to being pushed out of shape.

      You can hammer the wire

  • @jmp1329able

    Hi. Can 1 flush cutter be used for all sizes of memory wire/ copper wire etc? Does this tutorial applies for expendable rings? What are the tools required?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 років тому

      For memory wire you will want to use a special flush cutter, if you use a regular flush cutter it will ruin your cutters. The bracelet jig is only for bracelets. If you are making a ring you can try to use a mandrel but the tools for the wire should be the same. Here's a link to a cutter that will work with memory wire: www.beadaholique.com/xuron-memory-wire-cutters-cutting-pliers-strong-easy.html

    Can you use any gauge wire or craft wire to make the bracelets on the jig or even memory wire?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  2 роки тому

      Yes all the common gauges of jewelry wire will work. You can even use memory wire but it does take a lot of strength, and you'll want to be cautious to not apply too much pressure to the ring itself (say by gripping it for leverage) since it's perforated plastic

    if you were to flatten the ends of the wire, what type of hammer would you use? thanks! so which is the best?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  4 роки тому

      We don't usually hammer the ends of a wire to flatten it, instead we prefer to use a wire rounder tool like this one to make the end smooth beadaholique.com/products/wire-rounder-tool-with-wooden-handle-1-8mm-cup-bur
      If you do want to use a hammer to bend the end of the wire against something firm, sort of like an old fashioned nail, I'd suggest trying a nylon hammer. Nylon tools are always best when you're doing general wire work since they're better on plated metals beadaholique.com/products/eurotool-domed-face-nylon-hammer-for-metal-smithing

    It's better to use memory wire., Flexible wire will deform it's shape super quickly

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  2 роки тому

      Memory wire can be worked with this tool but it's really best used for more intricate shapes that are difficult to manage with memory wire without a lot of hand strength and a bit of practice. Those pieces are soft and lightweight when done with craft wire. It's that common DIY trade-off between fragile and fancy, and durable and minimalist.

    • @beadaholique

      We used about 15 inches (38 cm) worth of wire to make the bracelet. The thickness of the wire is 18 gauge, or 1.02 mm

  • @vejetasmom24

    I made one of these today with 16g wire and it keeps bending out of shape when i expand it. Any advice?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 років тому +1

      +Angie Ryman I think to have a bracelet wire that will truly bounce back requires some more advanced metal smithing and professional equipment. To some extent all craft wire (and even sterling silver) will bend out of shape when the "expanding" happens. My best advice would be to expand the bracelet carefully and then help it along to get back in shape. Another thing you could try is to work harden the bracelet around a bracelet mandrel.
