I'm working on a 2001 Beetle with a 2.0 engine but this is the same on a Jetta or Golf with the same engine. When you get this code don't ignore it. you don't want it to leave you stranded. I have gotten stuck on the side of a highway with my 99 Jetta with a 2.0 after having it towed to work i was able to replace the crank sensor and it fixed it. easy repair, diagnose yourself
