I’ve been testing the Yokohama V601 tires on spirited touge drives, some drift practices and… well you’ll find out soon enough!
Stay tuned for an in-depth review on these tires! Subscribe for more RX-8 content! 🫶✨

@@shamalabadingdong The V601 is what I would say a high performance, neutral and all-rounder set of tires.
What I meant by "neutral" is because of its behavior where it provides great traction when it's dry, will do fairly well in the wet and you can still break traction if you wish to send the car sideways. It's very comfortable and quiet too. Not exactly amazing for track usage (as you can tell from my more recent videos) but it is fun on the touge as I can let the tail slide, control it and regain traction on-demand.
I'd recommend it for street driving (including touge or backroad runs) or occasional autocross usage.
I still prefer the AD09 more for maximum grip on track.

@@MeorHariz so I'm on ps4s on an Elantra/Avante N (OEM). I drive mainly street miles. I am aiming for 1-3 autocrosses and 1-2 track days per year. 95% of my driving will be on the street, fairly aggressive driving though. I have a set of winter tires so these tires won't be used in the cold.
I'm in Canada, the roads aren't rough so I'm not concerned about wear. I've seen so many people on my Facebook groups say that their ps4s melted and chunked on one track day. I can't afford to have these expensive tires fall apart in one track day.
How are the ad09's in the wet? Would they be fine to drive to work in the rain? Obviously not as good as the ps4s, but will I be scared for my life and need to be hyper alert for puddles/water? Or can I just drive normally and safely in rainy conditions without a worry?
The v601's don't look like track tires, but they seem better than ps4s at handling a track day. I'm considering both the ad09 and v601 heavily. The only thing that makes me concerned is the aquaplanning.
Also, have you tried the rs4? It looks like the ad09 is just a faster rs4 with better wet but worse heat resistances. Otherwise, both very good treadwear endurance 200tw. The ad09 is also quiet right?
Most of my friends tell me to get rs4s for my situation. I think that the ad09 would be a better fit. What do you think?

I personally use these tyres for my BMW E46 and they are lovely for daily and the occasional speed run. Very quiet and comfortable 🤙🏼

I agree! They're perfect for those who are seeking daily comfort but also would like to push it a little bit more on the weekends.
One of the reasons I went with these instead of something with higher grip such as the Yokohama AD09 was because I'm still practicing drifting. Needed something that could break traction on demand but still grippy enough to make things predictable.
10/10 would buy these again once they are out!

Congrats on the new acquisition! Definitely need to shot daytime rollers of your car sometime💯

That will be highly appreciated! Having a somewhat dark colored car means night shots are less appealing. Let’s do it sometime soon!
Thanks for tuning in broski! 🫶

Anyone running these on a 500whp 600wtq car rwd?

    • @MeorHariz
      @MeorHariz  5 місяців тому

Someone with a 500HP Hellcat said the tires were grippy on rolling starts and will gain back traction at about 30MPH / 48km/h if you were to launch it.
Some 300-400HP drift cars run these tires too.
So the real question might be what type of driving do you intend to do when you get them cause it might be great at one thing and just decent at another.
