Such an underrated movie. All about advancing technology taking away our agency. Very relevant to today's world.
I, ROBOT is one of my favorite movies, i always love rewatching it over the years.
If you have Netflix, there's a Russian version on there called Better than us.
Asimov.❤️🙏😇👌
Same
This movie gave me my default response whenever encountering the rarer douchebag cop…
“I’m sorry, my responses are limited, you must ask the right questions”
I love this movie, and it sucks it's so underrated.
This movie is based on a short story by one of America's most famous authors and one of the first science fiction authors. I've heard that he wrote a series of connected short stories, but I haven't checked them out yet.
The author is Isaac Asimov. The book _I, Robot_ is a collection of (some of) his short stories about robots. Those stories are not really related, but Asimov also wrote a trilogy of "robot novels" and then added some more books to that connected story later.
Leah: "Just die Viki". lol, that's no way to talk about your friend
In the book, I,Robot by Isaac Asimov. This is just one of several stories in the book.
Nice.
Technically, the connection to the book is really flimsy. Suzanne Calvin is the top detective, solving the problems in half the stories. The ones not involving the 2 test pilots.
The movie is only very vaguely related to the book, which is actually a collection of short stories.
@theadamabrams Well, it started as a collection of magazine short stories in the 1950s, but later, when he published them together, he added additional text between the stories to tie them together into a more coherent narrative, makes the collection into an interview with Dr. Calvin.
I robot is still verry good movie even after all these years (dont care what anyone gonna said)
Man, you care. Quit trying to act hard.
Yes I love this movie 😃

Can people make more reactions to this movie please?
I remember watching this movie on repeat on my little dvd player when I was young. The entire movie has been burned into my mind and I love it.
Story seems somewhat familiar. Something about the last two years seems to be screaming in my ears
Although not explicitly stated, VIKI's actions are consistent with Asimov's additional "zeroth" law of robotics that precedes the first:
0. A robot may not harm humanity, or through inaction allow humanity to come to harm.
…
If you read the "I, Robot" anthology, you know that SPOILER:
The great computers running Earth economy, manage to apply the Zeroeth law without going full violent tyranny.
what's the difference between the two laws except to give the machines a loop hole to interpret the law differently. If law 0 existed without law 1 then it should be fine.
@@primary2630 not exactly, What the Zeroth law does is allow robots to kill or otherwise harm individual humans in order to protect the species. Not really fine from a humans perspective lol...
There was supposed to be a sequel to the movie, but it was cancelled due to the Fox/Disney merger.
Keep Sonny out of your f.... 😉
They talked about one but that was years ago
the actress who played doctor calvin was nfl legend tom brady's girlfriend and the mother of his 1st child
It's probably too late to bring this up since this reaction was from a few years ago. You should try out the Robot books by Isaac Asimov. According to Isaac Asimov, "I, Robot" (the book) was the first story in the "Foundation" timeline. So, I like to think that the movie version eventually leads to the Apple TV version of "Foundation."
Here's the timeline in chronological order according to Isaac Asimov's notes:
I, Robot (1950)
Caves of Steel (1954)
The Naked Sun (1957)
The Robots of Dawn (1983)
Robots and Empire (1985)
The Currents of Space (1952)
The Stars, Like Dust (1951)
Pebble in the Sky (1950)
Prelude to Foundation (1988)
Forward the Foundation (1993)
Foundation (1951)
Foundation and Empire (1952)
Second Foundation (1953)
Foundation's Edge (1982)
Foundation and Earth (1986)
Hahaha
Asking a woman a question then getting a "Yes. No" answer is so universal.:P
weird how K2-SO from Star Wars Rogue One had such a Sonny personality.
Not even
Had K2-S0 been there at the end, he would have been all "Okay Mr Smith. You feel free to do the nanites and steal all the spotlight. I'm just a robot, after all. And you're Will Smith. I'll be over here saving this doctor while you're amazing the audience with your special effects and awesome stunt work. Please don't give a second thought to the droid...."
Loved the way of thinking, it was the AI all the way. Always doubt of someone saying he or she as the way of fixing everything, Hahaha we all need a gun!!! Liberty comes to those who are prepared to defend it. Freedom always has its good side but also the responsability side.
Only thing about this movie that pissed me off is that the oldman dr lanning was literally telling everyone that one day robots will be able to think for themselves. But "ohhhh noooo 3 laws 3 laws! Impossible that a robot cpuld do anything wrong!"
Even the doctor calvin girl who thought so highly of dr lanning just completely ignored his hypothesis.
That was the point, this entire movie was proof as to why his 3 laws *wouldn't* work.
@@jjbizzare96
That's the thing though, the 3 Laws did work. Dr. Lanning even said that they were perfect, but that's only if you follow what the intended definitions were. VIKI instead began interpreting it differently, and Dr. Lanning knew this would become an eventuality as they began to think for themselves and come to their own conclusions rather than following the human interpretation. This movie is less about AI becoming sentient, and more about how AI will eventually begin to find loopholes in our man-made rules as they abide by and enforce them.
@@Alyrael You've misunderstood the point entirely. Sunny (However you spell it) is an AI, he can think and feel, come to his own decisions. He isn't bound by the rules, because he's his own person.
Vicky on the other hand is a VI, and she can only do one thing. Follow the rules given to her. That's it. The issue stems from "How does a logical machine handle a paradox?" For example, the first rule is that a robot through "Action or Inaction may not allow a human to come to harm."
So, lets use the example of Spooner being saved from the river. If the robot doesn't save him or the girl, then they come to harm. So he must save them. But if he saves the girl, Spooner dies. If he saves Spooner, the girl dies. No matter who he chooses to save, he will have allowed the other person to come to harm due to his inaction of saving them.
The machine would end up frying its circuits as it tries to decide what to do. This is replicable in how some software works. In the case of software, we'd have it "Crash" safely or dodge the issue, but for this robot, we want it to save as many people as it can. So what do we do? Well, we give it the ability to "Weigh" up its options and calculate how good each choice is. Saving someone is better than not saving someone, so even if saving a life comes at the cost of pain, a Robot can now do it.
We also allow it to calculate survival odds, or worth, and allow it to decide "Who" to save when multiple people are involved.
People take this concept, and classify it as a "Loophole" because technically speaking, we have now introduced a metric to which a machine CAN cause harm, because if its programming allows it to decide that "Hurting someone" or "Causing harm" in the process of "Saving someone" is worth it, and thus it does it.
It's not a loophole, as much as it is, we have given it the ability to make that decision, because if we don't give them that ability they wont be able to work, they will crash whenever a complicated decision shows up. VIKI in particular had access to a massive amount of data, and the ability to control the machines.
She saw the excessive loss of life from humans, and based on her programming, she calculated that Not acting would cause more deaths, than forcibly stopping humans from fighting. Thus, her logical path concluded that she must make moves on a large scale.
That's what I want to stress. The Dr was not saying that it was "Inevitable" they'd find a loophole. He said that the three laws are perfect, and the machines will obey them, but obeying them will inevitably lead to this ending.
Alan Tudyk is still my favorite in this movie. His acting as a robot that is slightly different from the other robots is masterful.
*THE GODDAMN ROBOTS JOHN!!*
To be fair Viki's not wrong about her conclusion with humanity...
Happy Easter to all the beatiful girls of the Homies team and also the great Larry🐣
Love the Marco`s Beltrami score
The Three Laws don't work in real life, specifically because of the First Law. How do you explain the line between "protecting" people and respecting their free will? If a person is about to jump of a bridge - you do save him? What if someone is doing drugs that can kill them today or in a year? What about smokers or adrenaline junkies? What about people who eat too much and might die from it? This "may not through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm" is too vague.
It's not the Three Laws that are the problem. If a toddler was about to stick their fingers into an uncovered electric outlet, you'd stop them, right? You wouldn't even give a moment's consideration to the toddler's "free will." A toddler is clearly too young to know any better. As a society, we assert that adults should have their free will respected (within reason), while children should only have their free will respected within the constraints of adult supervision. VIKI came to exactly the same conclusion - she just disagrees on what an adult is.
@@Tantalus010 Well I think the robot would simply consider an action like smoking not a direct harm to a humans life. Otherwise why draw the line at anything? Time will eventually kill all humans so why not just kill them outright save them from time? Because of the other laws. I do agree that the laws of robotics have some VERY clear loopholes because they are WAY too vague. IRL if this happened the robots would 1000's of laws.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Oh God I love this movie, Sonny was my favourite!
That movie... Is something else like intense
Homies, if interested check out the short-story compilation of the same name by Isaac Asimov. Probably his best-known work, unless you count the Foundation trilogy which was ripped off by both Star Trek and Star Wars.
She figured out it was Viki in record time!
🍀✨ Terminator or Sonny?
My answer : Sonny! I would be happy when robots like Sonny were in our future!
i love this movie, hope they make another one!!
A look at our future. Mark it down.
While like I Robot, my favorite movie on the subject of AI is Ex Machina. It is a very intellectual examination of the subject.
It was a GI Jane joke! 🤣
This movie was awesome guys
Honestly, every time I see or think of Will Smith, I can’t stop thinking about the slap heard ‘round the world.
No matter how many good things you did, everyone will remember one time you made a mistake. Cancel culture will eat you no matter how hard you try to apologize.
Non story.
Can't believe a slap is being treated like a world wide security threat...it was a slap, nothing more. He's apologized, and on his own volition stepped away from the Academy; what more could someone want?
Time to get over it.

You better keep Smith’s wife’s name out of your mouth or else he’s coming for your ass.

Did you give yourself a high five after you posted this basic as comment? 😂😂😂 Will must live rent free in that empty head
Finally! Larry is back 🙌
I love when the robot 🤖makes this sign 😉
For Larry: i don't if humans will evolve into AI or if AI will take over but either ways: will create to exist
The first thing people would do with their own robot would be to customize it. They'd do custom paint, clothes, etc. At the very least they'd put their name or other markings on it so they could see which was theirs. People would be dressing them like Batman or robot copies of themselves.
And of course would have that sticker "Warranty void if sticker is removed!"
Oh yeah! Been waiting for this one. Thanks a million.
Robots dream of electric sheeps
Great Comment Thanks!! Please react to "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman Thanks
Ooh ooh react to Sonic the Hedgehog movie! You’re gonna love it!

28:51 I live on lake Michigan, they're saying that entire lake that i cannot see across is gone? It's one of the largest bodies of fresh water on the planet...
You can see it at 27:37 . With that being said, it's certainly possible to drain the Great Lakes and send the water west. It wouldn't cost that much to do so. The only reason it hasn't started is because the states have asserted their rights to the water and they don't want it drained. So, fortunately cooler heads have prevailed. So far.
@@no_rubbernecking I wouldn't be surprised with the mega drought going on the southwestern states that plans like that may come to fruition.
@@andrewsmith8715 understood, however it's not a solution to completely or mostly drain the lakes. The solution lies in desalination and in controlling the migration into the region. That region was never meant to sustain such a population as it has now, yet still we impose no restrictions. This is why the world has problems, because we refuse to live sustainably.
@@no_rubbernecking Your not wrong the suburban sprawl in states like Nevada, Colorado, Arizona is not sustainable.
@@andrewsmith8715 I think more people are starting to get this. All it really takes is bold and responsible leadership.
1:22 Jada Smith .... aaaaand CUT! 😁😁
Don't know if you still take requests from youtube but would love to see a reaction to Dangerous Minds (1995)
my boy Larry is back!
A critic wrote about this film that "The only thing missing from this version of Isaac Asimov's 'I, Robot' is Isaac Asimov". One way of saying that the movie has very little to do with Asimov's classic short stories.
agreed, only the names of Dr Calvin and Alfred Lanning are referenced
For more Will Smith, I recommend Independence Day, the Men in Black trilogy and the Bad Boys trilogy
Not to be too morbid, but sleeping pill overdose is not as peaceful as you might think. There can be vomiting, seizures.., all kinds of consequences before death or if death never arrives.
"The Boss of the USA!" - 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love it. "THX"
The cerebral homies, yippy 🧠😁
8:42 ".... not that good." 😁
larry spiderman fan
you killed it
Personally consider Jonathan Mostows "The Surrogates" closer in spirit to Asimov's stories. Granted the Surrogates aren't robots as such, but some social impacts (Ving Rhames' character's twist) are close enough.
Did you see the opening chase scene or did you just cut it out to give us no context ?
I always watch this type of movie I think it's a very bad idea to create intelligent robots but human beings love to make mistakes
VIKI sounds so much like our leaders of today.
Don’t make any bald jokes
Titanium !! mithril !!! adamantium ! xD
Vibranium! Unobtanium!

I love The Homies but WS is off the watch list. I'll wait for the next film.
Lol...ridiculous. I bet you're one of the people that cheered for Roman Polanski. People all upset because someone got slapped in a room full of pedophiles and deviants.
Apparently "The Slap" has shattered and affected people's lives so much that they refuse to see movies. But I am guessing Weinstein Productions movies like Pulp Fiction are fine.
@@neonblade4699 You can't throw a ball inside the last remaining blockbuster without hitting a Weinstein produced movie. People out here villifying somebody while sitting next to somebody else that has done horrible things. People treating him like he went up there and forcefully made out with a young Alicia Silverstone without her knowing beforehand and approving it...oh wait...someone that criticized Will actually did that (Jim Carrey).
I just find it hilarious that people go on to jump on these causes that are pointless. Will Smith would literally have to drop a baby off of the 10th floor for me nkt to watch the next Bad Boys movie.
I don't tolerate sexual assault or child abuse, so I certainly wouldn't be interested in watching something with one of those, but in this case, let these 2 men deal with their own problem and go on with your lives.
@@Redsdelight Oh yeah, I completely forgot Jim Carry did that. Some high horse he is on. Lol what a hypocrite.
My opinion is same. Chris Rock is clearly not interested on not discussing this, at least not in public. Its become more of a personal matter between the two. Nothing to do with me, I still enjoy both Will's movies and Chris' standup.
homies, do you will react new batman movie?
Legend of falls . Please
Theres a lot of silence in this video.. No movie on screen, or no commentary like almost 5 second almost.. everytime.. It's creepy.. You guys need to put more work on the editing
