I'm about the same really. This might be the second time so far this season that the bike got a wash. I clean the chain more routinely though. After any dirt ride the chain gets a quick brush and lube.
Looks like a garage queen....too clean....😁. I got out friday for a good back road run....in the area you camped in. I am finding the old girl heavy this year....I am getting older now. I'm in the market for a DR trade now or even a KLX. Spread the word. I have the same top box and love it. Garth
LOL, the parts of the garage that the camera sees are the same parts that get cleaned. Believe me there's tons of junk out of frame. Glad to here you're getting out there. I'll keep my ear to the ground for you in case a lighter machine pops up. Cheers.
Jeff is working hard. Right now he's the trail tester. He's got a million miles worth of gps routes on PEI. I'm eager to see where he takes me on the test run up west. But you're right. July is right around the corner. But at the same time we still have August, and September still has a little summer flavor to it.
Great video thank you very well done as always. Bingeing that you us oil base the boys down south taut we to use engine cleaner to clean the chain spray it down wash it off reoil it really works well thanks again cheers to ya.
Thanks! Yes, a weak solvent works well. Something that cuts the old grease and cleans while at it. That's why I like kerosene to clean. The gear oil works well to lube, too, but it needs to sit, or it just gets flung off on the first ride. Cheers.
NS'er here ('23 KTM 890 adv), did a 3+ week trip in central and South Mexico last Nov. Rented 700GS with hard top and side cases. If I did it over again I would ditch all hard cases and just run a waterproof duffle anchored to the bike with ROC straps.I used that set up on a trip to NH USA last Aug and it was great. If I had $ to spend then something like the Mosko Moto reckless system. But for light and versatile it is hard to beat a waterproof duffle and some ROC straps.
That sounds like an amazing trip. I mostly use soft luggage on the longer trips, too. Mosko bags are the good standard for sure. I'd love to get a set, but I also need to pay the mortgage, lol.

Foxy’s lookin’ spiffy! Then again, clean or dirty that’s a good looking machine. I’ve been keeping the KTM a bit cleaner, but for no real reason, lol. A PEI BDR sounds amazing!! What a great project, I’m sure many hours are logged in the efforts already, very exciting. Hope your summer slows down a bit, cheers buddy, cool vid!
Yes I'd be cleaning that KTM often too. It's such a cool bike, man. So glad you got it. The BDR is a big project, but I know it will be so cool when it gets going. You'll have to come over to give it a try. Maybe this summer? You can do tip 2 tip this August with me and Brandon.
I'm pretty sure that there's still Labrador dirt hidden in my CB500X. Doesn't matter how much I clean it I never seem to get everything. A Trans Quebec Trail style route around PEI would be awesome! I have a rough route mapped around NB using primarily dirt roads and Provincial snowmobile trails. I haven't tried much of it out because it would take about 10 days to ride it and like you, my summer has been getting away from me. Maybe next year. Cheers!
Yeah the guys have been putting in some great effort on it. I'm looking forward to getting out and testing some of the route. But yes, summer is going so fast. The June bugs stayed just long enough to get trapped in my garage. Hope you're having a great summer brother.
I use a leaf blower to dry my bike after washing, it gets all the water out of all the nooks and crannies. Not many of us still use gear oil on the chain any more, can be messy but makes the chain last and last
I'll sometimes hit it with the air compressor to dry it off, too. And yes, gear oul is great. I'll leave it overnight if I use it to let it set in a bit.
Ah that's alright. I only get mine shined up after a run on the ATV trails. That's usually where I get most of the dirt and mud. Plus, the bike is ridden harder, and it's more likely I'll find a problem when I clean it after a run like that.
A PEI ATV pass is 80 dollars. Quad NB is 130. The pass is worth it. The PEI ATV trails this year are really good. Completely different from when I first started riding on them.
BDR around the whole island would be awesome!
It's a big endeavour, but it think it will be amazing when its all said and done. I imagine it will take a season or two to really become great.
I see I need to up my cleaning game! I clean mine every couple trips (more if it's muddy)

@@IslandADV Oh man that would be awesome! Hopefully schedules will line up!

I've tried commenting on this video twice now but the messages just seem to disappear
Blasted youtube. Sometimes it pulls comments off the video for whatever reason. Then they show up in the studio thing after a few days.
I need to step up my bike cleaning. I’m bad about not cleaning it. Oops.

how much is a pass ??

The pass is worth it. The PEI ATV trails this year are really good. Completely different from when I first started riding on them.
I have to risk the fines in Ontario , the local Atv clubs won't sell passes to you unless you have 4 wheels, no bikes or old 3 wheelers allowed.
Summer isn't even here yet. We're still in spring.
I see you still run 6 year old rubber brake hoses. Big no-no.
Those brake hoses are still working well, actually. I do want the braided type for sure, though. It's certainly on the upgrade list..
