Is there ever a situation where you would use a primer first? Are there any benefits in doing this? Thanks

Its all down to perosnal preferences. I have primed before as it does make the paint tougher, but Itoo much prime looses detail on some figs, but if using good quality acrylic paints and decent brushes and as they are just for display, then priming is not needed, as I tend to cover them with a matt/satin coat afterwards, that protects the paint.

Just a curiosity question. I have always been told when painting with a mirror chrome paint to always paint whatever you are painting gloss black first and it will give you a better shinier look. I noticed that you are not doing that so I was wondering what you think about that technique?

Good point, but with this mirror paint there's no need for an undercoat :-) It's a game-changer!

What’s the best thing to use for taking off the original paint?

i have tried oven cleaner, that works, some people use break fluid? there is group called custom droid stripping they use lots of things, just depends what country you are in! you want to make sure its something that doesn't melt plastic.
