It's a really cool effect, great look to it. Particularly fun when walking to the left you look like in a totally different shirt as opposed to walking to the right.
I think it came out nice. I look forward to trying this. I have the colors and struggle to use them. They aren't what I gravitate to. But I love the how the colors worked in this technique. Thanks!
Thank you! I've started trying to embrace some of these colors more the past couple of years. I used to rarely use anything in the orange/yellow family, but I've started branching out and loving those colors lately.
@@lareebrownell3399 I totally understand. I have to consciously force myself to reach for this color palette. However, when I do a shirt like this, I really love the way it looks. I've heard that we have a tendency to choose colors that look good for us to wear. Which makes sense because yellow doesn't look good on me.
That was interesting. For a comparative, I'd like to see you poke a shirt through the rack, like you just did, but then turn it over and dye it P.S. I love that ice cream too!
I like the texture of the cloth pushed through the grid. It'sthe kind of effect I'm after achieving and also the technique of allowing half of the shirt dangling so that the colours run freely is perfect!
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊 Very clever gravity technique. I think the areas that you poked into the holes remind me of spinal disks and chakras. I can imagine creating a skeletal tie dye for Halloween and creating a mandala with chakra centers for a meditation outfit.
I'm so curious what your camera setup looks like....is there anyway you could ever post a picture of what this looks like lol I have to figure out how to film my dye experiments
I actually use several camera setups depending on where I am filming. It depends on the kind of camera you are using and the space you have available. Amazon is a great resource to find something that works with what you are using.
Absolutely beautiful Angie - love the process - - I'm not able to do anything like that where I am, but I'm sure I could do a makeshift version inside my home on a rack. Thanks as always for your continued inspiration!!
I understand that it requires a special kind of dye for polyester fabric however my main question is - can you ice dye w/ this special type of dye - I am of the understand the man-made fabric requires boiling - is that what your knowledge indicates. Thank you for your replys
@@cathyreay8127 I haven't ever used polyester dye. I've heard they need boiling too though. I did a little research, and it looks like the dyes need boiling water to make the color permanent and to relax the fabric so that it absorbs the dye. Therefore, I don't think this process would work with ice and polyester dye at all.
For the most part the rack over the top of the vinyl guttering is level. I didn't purposely incline it. The dye will just naturally flow down the shirt as the ice melts.
What spoons or tools are you using to carefully put the powder dye on the shirts? I saw in a different video you used a spoon with a tip on it, what is that tool called?
I use Stainless Steel Lab Spoons. Some of them have spoons on both ends and some of them have spatulas. Here is a link to where I purchased them: amzn.to/2PWq7LK
I would love to see this in sunset colors. This shirt is beautiful
Thank you! 😀 I made one that is similar using fall colors. ua-cam.com/video/3Tx8zespmzk/v-deo.html
I think it's really cool....the sand dunes are kind of surreal
Thank you so much! 😀
The gravity effect reminds me of Jupiter . I love it Angie.
That's what someone else said too! 🙂
I love this poking into a grid technique. Order, yet chaos!
Thank you! I really like this technique too. 🙂
My first thought was the surface of Jupiter. Super cool shirt. 👍🏼
That's a great description - thank you! 🙂
Ooooooooo… I love this! The scrunch looks like fall leaves.🍁
Thank you so much! 🙂
My favorite channel 🎉
Thank you! 😀
I really like this one. Though I think I would prefer it with vertical flow as opposed to horizontal.
Thank you! 🙂
I think the shirt came out amazing Angie when I get back out to the table I’m definitely going to try this one. Thanks so much for sharing.😁✌️
Thank you so much! 😀
It's a really cool effect, great look to it. Particularly fun when walking to the left you look like in a totally different shirt as opposed to walking to the right.
That's true. There is something different to look at on both sides of the shirt.
Very unique love the colors I will probably have to give this a try! Thanks Angie
Thank you so much! 🙂
I was so excited to see how this turned out!! What a great technique. Thank you for all these experiments, they are truly inspiring!
Thank you so much! 😀
I love this idea! Especially the large pieces of ice!! Can't wait to try it.
Yay! Thank you! 😀
I am inspired. I have some tees, a rack, and box of Dharma Procion colours.
Awesome, have fun! 😀
Such a cool looking shirt. The one side is almost a scrunch and the other side does look like sand dunes. So beautiful, Angie. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🤗
That's so beautiful.
Thank you! 😊

@FunEndeavors I'm six years in on my dye journey, and I still struggle with these colors. I aim to try harder! Haha. Thank you for the inspiration!

That's a beautiful shirt. I really like those top and bottom colors as well. 10/10
Thanks so much! 😀

That's a great idea - I'll have to try that! Yes, I can't eat dairy and they make some really good non-dairy flavors.

The color look amazing. I wonder how cool it would look if the design was vertical on a dress. Always so ecited to see your videos!!!
That would be cool! 🙂

I love gold finch and amber waves
I do too. I think they are really pretty.
That is one of the most beautiful shirts I’ve ever seen. What do you mean what do I think 🤦🏽♂️🤯🤯
Aww...thank you so much! 😊
What a cool technique! I really love the pattern and the color splits.
Thanks so much! 🙂

I need to get some of those racks. I love the Fall vibes, being from the Pacific Northwest. Another killer shirt Angie! 🩷✌🏼🩵
They are really versatile. Fall is just around the corner for you all.
i like the color combo
Thank you so much! 🙂
This is a great idea😊

Thank you! 🙂 I'm sure you could come up with a creative way to do this inside without it making a huge mess.
I like this one a LOT! I woukd try one stuffing the shirt in a “staggering” effect for an experiment. Just to try… 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you! That's a great idea. I'll have to give that a try. 😀
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
That’s really cool!!
Thank you so much! 😀
Beautiful! I love those colors. I’m heading out back to do my first gravity ice dyes. Hope they come out as wonderful as yours!! ❤
Thank you! I hope you have fun with them. 😀
Love this!
Thank you! 🙂
I love this approach - however can this be performed on a man-made fabric such as polyester
Thank you! No, not using the dye that I use. I use fiber reactive dye and it only works on natural fabrics such as cotton. 😀

Did you elevate this shirt to make the gravity flow? Very interesting technique. 👍

Even if the shirt is damp?
@@medolark Yes, the dye will even flow on a damp shirt.
Thank you. 👍
