Another way is to leave it on max regen and use the accelerator pedal to reduce the regen power. It will not send energy into the motor unless you need more power than coasting.

That is another option, but we personally prefer the extra engagement the paddles provide, along with the free coasting with our feet off the pedals!

I have a ‘22 Niro EV EX Premium, I mainly keep the regen on “Auto 0”, and use the paddles also.
The auto setting uses the vehicles radar/collision avoidance to detect if there is a vehicle in front of you going slower & will apply regen as needed.
I also use “Sport” driving mode a lot.
Does the ‘19 Niro EV have an auto regen setting?

Seeing as there was basically 0 throttle input and therefore almost no power applied to propulsion downhill, did you track how much mileage you regained going down that hill, or percentage of battery? Very cool video, love your enthusiasm about the car (we have one too and love it).

I have found the regen system to be shockingly efficient. Flat ground 4.0mi/kWh is normal, and I can get the same efficiency after going up and down this mountain road. In this video, it was specifically 3.4mi/kWh, likely due to cold weather and using climate control!
