Yet another airport we have landed at several times on our holidays. So enjoyed the approach and views. Remember going to Boa Vista (BVC) once and at that time they had no ILS so it was a Visual. On this occasion the Captain advised they could not see the runway due to a black cloud over the airport. We circled then suddenly we were down. Very small airport. Perhaps Captain you have flow there. Awaiting next video. Thank You ✈️
Thanks for watching and for sharing your personal experience! No, I have not been to BVC. But it may happen that the clouds are at the wrong position and we do not see the runway early enough. Then we have to discontinue the approach and wait for better weather or fly to the alternate airport. I had to do this a few years ago once at La Palma airport. The visibility was too bad and finally we had to divert to Tenerife South.
Thanks for watching and your feedback! That happens on a regular basis. Instead of heading 180, ATC tells your to turn South. The same is true for North, East and West.

Great debrief! Final approach was a masterclass in proper junior-to-senior communication and situational awareness by the FO and PF. Top class video as always, capt!

Perhaps a video at some point, that just covers a turnaround...? Things like the radio communication we heard at the end there with ground staff about releasing breaks, fuel qty you need, asking for air conditioning, etc. are really interesting, love it all. Thanks again, you are an asset to us aviation and flight sim geeks! Finally, do you fly flight sim at home or is work enough flying for you? haha
Thanks for watching, your financial support of the channel, the great feedback and your very personal insights. I will keep your request in mind. Recording and publishing the full turnaround is much more complicated than said. You mention already security things. And there is much more to consider. It may take a while until I can get something like that done. I have a flight simulator program on my PC but I prefer to fly the real airplane or the full flight or fixed based simulator at one of the simulator training facilities. The same is true for small airplanes. I like to fly a small single engine Mooney (There is a full flight video available on this channel ua-cam.com/video/m2dmsSjhhnU/v-deo.html). And sometimes, I even instruct in FAA approved Cessna 172 and Cessna 182 fixed based simulators which are owned by the EAA chapter.

Long story short, LEPA is always worth it! Greetings from Ingolstadt ✌🏻

Quick question, why did the cpt. fly manually the approach from 3000 ft? why didn't he use the autopilot to land?
Thanks for watching and your question. We do autoland only in foggy conditions if the airport has a CATII or CAT III ILS system. Otherwise all landings are done manually.
May I ask why you choose to land with flaps full and add VAPP instead of land on FLAPS 3
Landing with flaps full or landing with flaps 3 has nothing to do with increasing or not increasing the approach speed above the target speed for the used landing configuration. Flaps 3 or full are both approved Airbus landing configurations. In general, flaps 3 needs an approach speed of about 5 knots more in comparison to flaps full. This is due to the flap/slat configuration. When we add some knots to the approach speed, this has nothing to do with the flap setting. I usually prefer flaps full because the pitch during the final approach and during the flare is about 2 degrees less. In addition, the landing distance is a little shorter and due to the higher drag, the thrust has to be a little higher as with flaps 3.
