I donate a lot of good stuff to Goodwill, brand new, never worn etc. Quality stuff. In my younger hears I was a shopoholic, but now at 73 I just want to downsize as quickly and easily as possible. Taking a carload to Goodwill every month, without fail, is how I do this. As far as selling it, I don't need the money. Convenience is the key.
You are truly blessed! Thank you for blessing others.
Yes, I’m with you! I’m coming up to 72 and constantly downsizing my “stuff”…it all feels overwhelming🤣 specially when you live alone🎉
The peacock looks like an incense burner.
Wow, Nice 😊
I do the same. My hope is that my things somehow benefit those in need.
I used to donate everything to Goodwill when I cleaned out my closet. Now I give it to women at church. A woman who works at our Goodwill told me they send everything worth money to their online store. I don't care about that. Poor people need to have the first option. We donate out of the goodness of our hearts for poor people.
Their goodwill seems to consistently have good items, so maybe not all of them do. But nonetheless it is awesome that you donate directly to the person in need. 💜
Everyone just leaves out things by our mailboxes. Everything is gone in about a hour.
I wish Goodwill served people who need inexpensive items. Reselling is fine but it bothers me that they take EVERYTHING and leave nothing for the people in need. I have a ton of cashmere sweaters from J Crew that I bought this year and really nice things that could help someone decorate an apartment. I would LOVE to take them to Goodwill for someone who can't afford cashmere to find this summer, because I will buy a ton more next year. But, I will never put my $150 sweater in a resellers cart. I will give them away to a place where I KNOW they will benefit women in need. To me, it's a shame what has happened to Goodwill. There is not good will left on Goodwill. 😥 It makes me sad.
@Petlover1278 There is a place in our city that accepts donations for people to have clothing when they get a job. They are people who really need help when they get a job to help them get back on their feet.
@@ChaiChai1965Take your clothes to a women shelters I do not donate t GW.
The brass peacock is an incense burner. It has small holes on the neck and the ashes fall on the tail. Happy New Year!
Karen, I think you got Roger out of his shell. He is talking a lot more on videos. Y'all are a good team and you both look very happy!
We are so happy! 😊
He’s like a lot of men so give him a chance to finish his sentences before you chirp in. I worked 30+ years for the Dept of Veterans Affairs. It takes a bit to get a full accounting. Don’t go digging into his cart…space violation. 😊
Please don’t ever apologize for being too chatty. I know you’ve received comments from rude people in the past about you being too chatty, but those of us who come here on a weekly basis love your chattiness. Your personality is what makes you so delightful! How much you teach us is a bonus, imo. Happy 2024 to you, Roger & your families. I hope you continue to prosper & be blessed ❤ xo
Linda!! Thanks so much 💜💜
Its totally ok to feel the artwork at Goodwill - you're not at the Louvre or anything lol 😄 how else are you going to tell if its a real painting or not! Always enjoy your content Karen keep them coming!
we live in our duster coats fyi- check the inside to see if the straps are there- they go around your legs when you are on the horse- the back opens up (snaps up the back) so you can ride -the back drapes on the horse- then when you get off you can re-snap the back up - I have bought both new and used- also best raincoat - we re-wax as needed
I always take a cart from the parking lot bc I figure if it made it that far it must be a good one! 😄
I love that idea and I’m going to start using it Besides, cleans up the parking lot
😂😂Right!
I do that because I am always nervous that there will be no carts when I get in there, and that has happened a few times.
😂
Your love for each other is “shiny bright”!🎉
The "shoehorn" is an incense burner.
The antlers look like they are tagged for sale as dogchew treats
The little brooms would be so cute as fall decorations with scarecrows or pumpkins or harvest signs.
The French antique fashion print is out of a 19th century French fashion magazine and are very popular so wouldn’t take it out
You're right! They look like Godey women.
Beautiful cardinal box; yes it is thought by some that spirits of our loved ones revisit as cardinals. I like them because of their bright color and red is my favorite.❤️
Hi Karen, Thank you for all the wonderful and informative videos this year. Don't know how you can top 2023, (large garage sale, home addition, MARRIAGE, opening a booth...). Keep Going Out and Getting What's Yours and I'll keep watching.😄 Happy New Year to you and Roger.
The Outback trench coat is still for sale from the company - my son got one for Christmas in a dark brown. I used to have one of the bent wood hanging plant holders in the 80s.
Am I the only one who thought the small brooms would be perfect for sweeping out cobwebs out the corners above your head?
No, you are not the only one; I keep one on my porch to clear off spiderwebs, moths etc.from the corners and between the balusters, and have one to dust off the same from the deer heads we have in the living room. Karen, you could use down in the basement for any overhead invaders.
I love the banter between you two! You can tell how much fun you have together! ❤
Karen you look so pretty! You always look pretty, but I'm loving your hair! Love watching your videos! You are my #1 go to for thrifting videos!
Glass Insulators: Their history and use is an interesting one. Initially the companies made Insulators (different style) for use with Lightning Rods on Barns and Houses, but expanded and began producing those green & white common units we see in antique malls and thrift stores to support the Telegraph lines, when they were introduced and state of the art. They were not there to prevent electrical shock, but to help limit the loss of signal strength experienced by low power telegraph signals traveling from town to town. The power for many of those telegraph keys was basic, like dry cell batteries, or even hand cranked like a WW I Field Telephone. Rural electrification didn't reach many communites until the 1940s and telegraphs go back 50 years from them. 1 or 2 of these insulators sat on top of a Telegraph pole and isolated it from the pole. The wires were strung on the glass. As telegraphs were replaced by telephones, wooden cross bars were put on the poles and each cross bar could hold 1 or more wires. Need more phones, add more cross bars above or below the first. Then, when the demand for land line phones really kicked off, phone cables with 50, 100 or even more pairs of wire were put inside individual cables and the insulation went right on the wires and cables (much like a home extension cord) and the glass insulators became obsolete and became pretty garden whimseys and light catchers. Many companies, including Kerr (the jar people) made them in many colors, shapes and sizes. They aren't worth much because there so many. Lightning rod balls, however can be worth really good money. Now about the only place you still see such insulators in use are the living museum exhibits and some very isolated communities that still only have a phone for the General Store and maybe the Doctor and Sheriff.
Thanks for the history I really enjoyed learning about them
I love it when you “make stuff up!” You are more on point then you give yourself credit for!💗💗
That’s a laugh riot to me!! I found my very first Australian waxed coat from that company back in November at a church sale for $3!! I made $179 with shipping within one week!!
Look forward to your videos. I listen to every word and am extremely happy for your contribution to the reseller community. If we gave out awards, Your Channel would be hard to beat. Happy 2024!! This year is destined to be the best since 2020. 🙏❣️🌺💐
You two find such good stuff. Always fun to watch. Happy New Year.
I'm glad you guys are married you look like you get along well. Nice to have company when you're in "mature years"💞 the brass thing with the peacock is a incense holder. Kellogg's is made in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Great video. I agree I would be bored just selling clothes and would have never found the 2 Molly Hatch juice glasses last week that one just sold for $48.00. I have always loved collecting different types of items since I was very young.... Your husband is such a gem and so happy the two of you found each other. I would love to find someone that loves to thrift as much as I do.... Happy New Year to you and your family!!!
I believe the brass peacock at 5:12 that you thought was a shoehorn is an incense holder. There's a small hole on its chest where you would put the stick in. And then the tray part would catch the embers that fell after you lit the incense stick. We had one when I was younger, but more ornate. We didn't use it for incense though.
Hi Karen and Roger, my husband makes pens out of antlers, I’ll watch when you list these. Love your videos!
Happy New Year~to you both~and everyone in the family~🎉🥰💯🐾☮️
The deep frame print looked like a Godey's Lady "fashion plate" - people do still collect them. Maybe they will want it along with the frame! Happy New Year Karen!
I hope corn flakes are made out of corn! 😅Too funny!
😂😂
Our local Goodwills finely sift through the donated goods keeping the items for their Ebay store and are also doing What Not. What remains for local buyers is torn, stained clothing, broken items, 3 legged tables, coats with broken zippers, dog kennels with feces inside and all complete junk. You'd never find anything here. Also they keep stuff for their local Outlet Store. You are very fortunate.
Love your Anthropologie vaaahz! 😉
You can pop a bouquet of fresh flowers from the garden, and water into it and it will be lovely!
When you see that the interiors of vases are glazed it's a sign that they are meant to hold water without leaking. If the inside is unglazed, it's not intended to hold water. Always check!
Thank you guys for being here when I need a fix! You guys are so sweet…so happy you found each other. God’s blessings to you!
I love you guys! Happy New Year!
Youre so lucky to have Roger to go with you. My ex boyfriend hated going only to learn he goes there often because they have tools and things he needs. Too bad he didnt go before. Keep going you two!!!!!
I don’t pass on good Christmas items after Christmas. I have sold a nativity and some ornaments this week ( the week after Christmas)
Happy New Year to a fabulous couple
I've been watching you since you were first divorced and began reselling to provide an income for yourself. I'm so happy that you found and fell in love with Roger. He seems like a wonderful person.
I was divorced and started reselling many many years back …. way before filming!
@@lavenderclothesline I've either forgotten the time sequence or misunderstood. I do remember you talking about your divorce. If I remember correctly, you were monetized your first month as a UA-cam creator. But my memory, it ain't what it used to be. 😬😂
Happy New Year guys!!! ❤❤❤
Your hair is beautiful!!! Happy new year!
LOL!!!! Are corn flakes made of wheat? I love watching you both. Happy New Year.
They're so funny and cute together.
😂
Duh
Kellogg's is in Battle Creek Michigan, it is the original Company, corn flakes are made out of corn. Early 1900 s is when Kellogg started
The broken brass item was an incense burner I think. Love the wood bowl! It's carved from one piece. I collect them too!
I see you walk by some fabulous vintage items, I'm like HEY HEY! The vintage Victorian stuff, too.
Happy New Year to you both! Thank you for your fun vids that are good lessons too.
Who knew the Rocky song could be used for the sport of Thrifting! You Go Girl!
The tumbler you picked up was a very expensive Hydroflask I think that is the correct spelling. It’s up there with Yeti. Someone just put a yeti sticker on it but it’s still a great find!
People often repurpose those insulators for pendant lights by having holes drilled into them and adding wiring or placing them upside down in some type of stand as a vase.
Oh, and you can never go wrong with an Anthropologie brand! The stitching is perfection!
Insulators are used to a block of material, typically glass or ceramic, enclosing a wire carrying an electric current where it crosses a support. You used to see them on Electrical poles.
I enjoyed seeing the vintage clothing & learning something new about something old!
I may be mixing it up with another company. But I think Kelloggs is in Battle Creek Michigan.
Happy New Year to both of you and your families.
Karen and Rodger, I started watching Lavender Clothesline right before you got married, love your togetherness, Happy new year 🎉
Great video . Happy New Year Karen and Roger.
So funny; that "lunch box" originally came with a dozen dinosaurs! 😄 I just purchased it for my grandson for Christmas! He's one happy 3 year old!🥰
Kellogg’s hometown is Battle Creek, Michigan, where wheat, corn, soy beans, sugar beets, apples and cherries grow. 🍒🍎🌽
Love your channel. I have to say, you and Roger really compliment each other on so many levels. I really like watching you guys shop together.
Happy New Year, Karen & Roger! Pieces like the deep-framed print of the 2 ladies do well for me with keyword "chateau chic." It's trending, thanks to British TV and numerous popular chateau channels on UA-cam.
Love your hair Karen. Great color and cut. Happy New Year.
I haven’t colored or cut it in a long time! 😂
Happy new year Karen an roger thank you for your hard work and taking us with you lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
I have only just started watching your videos recently and regarding time, randomly. Every video makes me laugh with your comments and jokes and "schmutz" (spelling?). You two are so sweet together and Roger's cheeks seem to blush when he is on camera, but he seems to be getting more talkative. This is such a nice channel to watch without drama. Thank you so much!
Happy New Year to both of you a new year of good health and harmony!😊
I buy antlers on ebay like the ones you found for my dogs to chew. They are prices at around 25$ for 3, so great find!
I know that a lot of people give their dogs antlers to chew, but I’ve had more than one vet highly discourage it. Antlers can and do splint when chewed and can do major damage to a dog’s insides when consumed.
@user-nl5zz6ok5l thanks for sharing that.
I've only noticed it started to do that when they get on the small side from being chewed, and we throw them out. At that point, it's a choking issue also. It takes a very long time to get to that point, though.
@@AnnPratt-p9zyes! My vet says she sees a lot of broken teeth from antlers.
I love those mid-century plant hangers. That is a great Goodwill!
❤Happy New Year. Looking forward to 2024 adventures. Best to both of you and thanks for a great year thrifting!
Oh my gosh! "Aren't Kellogg's CORN flakes made from Wheat?" I laughed so hard I scared the dog!! Karen, you are too much! Love your videos.
I so enjoy your videos! You guys are fabulous!
Karen. Thank you for sharing you knowledge. I started reselling in March. I love your videos. You have helped me to know what will sell. You are amazing.❤
The deep framed print is a fashion print and very collectible as is. 😊I’m not sure you could put something better in it. Look up La mode French fashion prints
Happy New year! I love to hear you guys laugh. Great video.
I have seen the hanging bentwood as side tables, using a hook in the ceiling.
Kelloggs is in Battle Creek Michigan.
Happy New Year Karen! You always motivate me! Thank you!
You found some really nice things this time ! Love the wood plant holders or hanging plant holders !!! Loved the men's coat . FYI the cardinal is the state bird of NC and I love them in real life . I talk to them as if it's my Mom and sister visiting me ! Happy New Year Karen and Roger 🥂 🎊🎆🎉🥂
The cardinal is the state bird of West Virginia too!
@user-hr3tx6uu9o
The Northern Cardinal is also the state bird of Virginia, where I live.
Interesting factoid: it's actually the state bird of SIX of our US states: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia.
@cheryldavis8776 thank you for your comment as I live in Virginia and our state bird is the cardinal. Actually I attribute my son and my husband is coming to see me whenever I see a red cardinal
Those plant hangers are amazing!
Gorgeous finds❤ love all the hard work you put into your videos, Karen❤️
I wish you were in California. I’m closing my boutique after 18 years and I wish you were here to see what I have so you could purchase it for your sales purposes
Hello Neighbor. I live in Southern California 😊
There is so much here in Pa for pennies on the dollar that I don’t buy privately anymore
The peacock looked as if it might be an incense holder.
Fabulous finds with the Outback duster coat and the White Fox hoodie!! Loved the bent wood plant hangars! Happy New Year to you and Roger‼️🥂🎊❣️
I am learning so much from you and Roger. Tell him I’ve picked up some vintage games due to him.
Happy New Year!
Thank you Karen and Roger for all the great videos 😊
Thank you both for this video👏👍👏 You 2 are a hoot!
You can use a loup to see if artwork is original.
what fun, shopping,, and that frame,, might have to distract you and grab it,,hahaha
The bottle was a Hydroflask. Very good quality bottle. On par with a Yeti.
Happy New Year Karen! If you are an apple user there is a way to cut out the back ground noise. I am android so I'm not sure how to do it but my friend does it and it cuts out dogs barking and even if she is vacuuming. lol
The bottle with the Yeti sticker that you picked up was a Hydroflask. They resale really well for about $20.
"Happy New Year Karen & Rodger!" Wishing you the best of everything in 2024✨🎊💫 ... as always Happy reselling"🥰 ~Cheers from South Carolina
Awesome video you two! Love watching you shop together.
Hello Karen & Roger! I hope all is going well with your family! “Merry Christmas” & “Happy New Year” to you! May God keep you safe and may you have a grand year in 2024! Yayyy!! 🎉🎄☃️⭐️😇🙏🌺⭐️🎉🎊🎈✨
Happy New Year Karen and Roger!! ❤
Love your videos. Very funny
Corn flakes made out of wheat 😂😂
That’s ok I say silly things all the time too ❤️
😂
I think I've said the same! Probably thinking of Wheaties. They look the same. Also, Kellogg's is from Battle Creek, MI. :) Not too far from me, but it is a pretty random small midwest town. I rarely find myself there. Not a fan of the guy who started the company, but I think they're pretty OK now.
Roger is such a good man, always smiling 😂
I make him happy 😁👍
I found one of those field coats at the bins it’s an Australian brand driza-bone the coat has an oil wax on it it sold for 150 on eBay
Antlers are good for hard mouth dogs to chew on. One of my staffies chewed on hers for about a year. They are so expensive in the pet shops in the UK 😊
Roger should start a channel. Why don't you let him take the lead for an episode. Bet I could learn a lot from him.
I ask him frequently
@@lavenderclotheslineas persuasive as you are I can't understand why he will not
Give him time. He'll open up when he is ready.
Yes! Postage/shipping costs affects whether I make a purchase or not.
Always always love your videos Karen!
Ya know, because I have sound sensitivity I almost find offensive how loud that Goodwill plays their music. I’d have a hard time staying in that store very long. 😬
Thank God you don’t have that issue! Lol 😘
Always buy the old frames....other valuable paintings are sometimes hidden behind the lead photo.
Happy New Year! Hoping you and Roger have a great year!
