I hope at least 5% of y'all realize we're witnessing an avatar at work. Hip-Hop has never before been graced by a wordsmith of his caliber and fervor. The lyrical depth and imaginative wordplay with rhyme schemes intricate like sacred geometry is on galactical levels. . . Words come short to comprise the genius of this man. I cant help but think that most listeners are having a quick glance at the surface, with more appreciation for the flow and beats, instead of absorbing the lyrics mindfully, which is a pity. Granted, the lyrical complexity of the verses he spits requires an attentive mind and considerable mental effort to be fully grasped, especially for non-natives. I'll have to give this track many more listens until i get the bigger picture and that's precisely why i appreciate M9 so much. Nobody inspires deep thought more than he does. Hip-Hop is blessed
Best comment I think I've read on UA-cam, we most definitely need to herald this music. I saw a quote somewhere about music being a reflection on society and artists like M9 are a dying breed, soon to be extinct due to the over saturation of weak music the masses seem to lap up right now
nlouca85 I agree that the music produced on a larger scale reflects the current state of global consciousness. Unfortunately the commercial music-industry has been deliberately manipulating the perception of Hip-Hop which has now resulted in people becoming used to (Hip-Hop) music with a low level of awareness. For people who have succumbed to the steadfast manipulation of consciousness the mental shift that needs to be made from fast-food for thought to a rich, expansive buffet is a challenge which requires a serious mental effort. On top of that, talking from observational experience, most people tend to skim the surface instead of digging deep in search of hidden jewels. Therefore appreciation of beats and flow is much more frequent than appreciation of an intricate rhyme scheme or clever reference. Somehow it saddens me that M9 and Cyrus Malachi do not get the credit they deserve and are not rewarded according to their talent, determination and even purpose. Sadly entertainment is still preferred over edutainment. But as i said before, i genuinely believe M9 and Cyrus to be avatars of Hip-Hop igniting or stimulating a revolution in consciousness and the way in which it is expressed through the artistic medium Hip-Hop or poetry in rhythm.
Bredene1992 For real! You are right to highlight M9 and Cyrus Malachi as prime examples of amazing talents that for the most part go unnoticed. I've noticed a rise in 'conscious' MC's in Hip-Hop over the last few years, hopefully the fans will catch up and artists like M9 will have their day
So elequoently put. It takes a certain IQ level to be able to digest each of M9s track. This is why i ONLY listen to him alone because not everyone has the capability of understanding the complexity of each verse. Sometimes it hurts my brain haha and i have to rewind and pause and literally take a few seconds to take in the image he is trying to protray....if i dont my mind just explodes....haha
Another deep Conscious U.K London Hip Hop track and Video from this M.C keep bringing the World your thoughts and Teachings.Stay Blessed to you and your whole Crew.Peace G Beats.

I get that you're really proud of your college education but it's quite simple, really. M9 is preaching unity! Nifty innit?
I'll never understand why his music doesn't have millions of views. He has serious bars.

Melanin 9 - "Colours" Lyrics (via Genius.com)
Verse 1
Sat in a shrines spirit/ walls white my spine pivots/ lights mimic/
Over estate roof heights with 9 villains/
In white linen/
My arms extended on a marble dresser/
With palms on the sagas of khepra/
The glance of an emperor/
Glasses of nectar/
Shuffled cards/ bitches in baths/
The city's pillars arched over barberous peddlers/ i start sketching/
I view it like a collage in a spectrum/
A coloured scheme mirage to enhance my perception/
Ink blotches of burgundy bricks and PINK optics/ SILVER locks picked/
Shots lick in his snot bridge/ cops script the burner hit his sternam on page 2/
For serving strips of purple haze herbs on estate roofs/ face blue like Armanis black armies who spray crews/
Peddle caine on yellow stained pavements with Grey Goose/ prison escape routes authors their brains well/
To stack pinkies from weighing white stones on a grey scale/ a mind full of coloured schemes in their brain cells/ with tatts covering BLUE stitches over their vein rails/
From Whitechapel pipe grapples and 8th sales/ Red bodies of babies found where the drain smells/
Chorus
The colours colours/
The white black and brown/
The white enslaved the black/ the black
Hates the brown/
For the colours colours/
Really depends on the colour that forms the complexion/
Which governs our own perceptions
Verse 2
Its red light led strikes from legion wars/
Ped bikes and pealing walls/
RED stripes and reefer draws/
Knives and immigrants/
Barry White vinyls and instruments
Bribing the suck pink dices from piping predecrements/
Between the amber lorry/
Silver bangle blondies/
Fill bags of bobby's/ with black hammers inside their Abercrombies/
My coloured capsules probably/
Purple patterns and patches of blood splattered bodies/ from mechanic shottys/
That blow like Egyptian winds drifting over a gold sand/ deep as a barrel's black hole strapped to a cold hand/
The nose tips the window the rubber grips the frame/ the grey colours above us is the muffler's aim/
Kaleidoscope pictures/ of white owners of coke shifters/ serve silver haze through Blackberry's the fuck gold diggers/
Mimicking amber rose strippers with toned pigments/ they put purple acrylic coat glitters with their toes blistered/
Drunk from guzzling White Russians under gang spells/ to having a child driven from a black male/
His kids wrapping bits packaging sales/ never fed on silver platter fits his characters tale/
Full of colours
Chorus x2
