What about on older neon signs from the 1940's or 50's? If the transformer doesn't cross over to anything then you have to go with electrical specs then, right. I bought an old Blatz beer sign and Everbrite sold me an Evertron power supply that automatically adjusts between 2kV and 12kV at 25 mA. The one originally on the sign was rated at 6kV and 30mA.

I just bought a neon sign less than a year ago and about a month or two ago it started not working. When I turn it on I hear a sharp buzz sound and the sign flickers and them shuts off. When it flickers all the tubes turn on, what do you think the problem is?

Without seeing I can only guess from your comment. It sounds like a broken tube potentially.

Hi, I have a beer sign that was hanging in a liquor store for about 4 years. When it comes on it does not flicker or buzz. It stays lit for under 15 minutes and then completely turns off. Can you give me any advice on what could be wrong with it. Thanks.

Likely a slow leak in a tube - small enough to complete the circuit but because of the leak the transformer comes under increasing strain until it trips and cuts off. Not sure how to identify this because a testing tool would still give you light in that tube as it does in that 15 mins.

Nice vid but, would of been a LOT better if we could see what’s actually going on, Thanks for explanation though

I have several 6 way mains adaptors each with a neon indicator.
Is it possible to remove these neons?
