I agree. These places, statues, and areas NEED to be saved. People NEED to feel uncomfortable, ashamed, and constantly reminded of what can happen when evil men are allowed to exhibit their worst traits and not held to account.
We must hold these places as sacred touchstones to a time where racism, xenophobia, and callous disregard for humanity resulted in the needless death of millions.

Probably released them all with no prosecution as many nazis were granted asylum here in Canada. They destroyed the camp a few years ago stating it was too dangerous and too expensive to fix but in actuality they were probably just ready to cover up the truth about Canadian involvement in helping nazis during and after the war.
The pow installation was called camp 30.

Wow amazing. You should come to make video in Poland. Two recommended locations. Miedzyrzecki Rejon Umocniony - underground tunels aprox. 32 km and above bunkers connected with those tunnels.
Another one is town - Borne Sulinowo there was artillery school of the Wehrmacht. And before the outbreak of the joint German-Soviet invasion of Poland, which started World War II in 1939, the training grounds housed Heinz Guderian's XIX Army Corps. During the later stages of World War II an artificial desert was built there for the units of Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps (the other such training ground was established in the Błędów Desert near Olkusz). At the same time the area became part of the so-called Pomeranian Wall, a line of almost 1000 concrete bunkers guarding the pre-war Polish-German border and eastern approaches to Berlin.

When the Russians first occupied this camp,
They would have removed any nazi insignia, and some militaria,
All of this would have been deposited in a rubbish pit, dug for the purpose.
Locating this rubbish pit may yield some very interesting finds.
Shouldn't be too hard to locate.

Another unusual location and the photos from the 40's are great to see so we can understand what it looked like when in use by the German troops. Leave it to the Soviets to choose some ugly color to cover the buildings so they are truly undesirable! The size of the camp is staggering. How many troops were here at the peak of use? I would think it would take a small fortune to keep it in use. It is going to take a huge budget to tear it down and remove the materials. Maybe the bricks can be reused. Thank you for taking us through this location and sharing the history! Stay safe and stay well!

Understand how some of them are hazards, but it would have been great if most of the "camp" could have been saved and made into a resort or something. Probably would make a nice retreat for some. What a site. Shame it has to be torn down for safety's sake. Complaining about the cost of having to tear it down, maybe if they had kept it up, they could have found a use for it and perhaps not cost as much. It is an incredible site and so fascinating to see the inside of the various buildings, especially the few different types of toilets. Man, that brick one was something else. So glad you were able to film the site so we could see it! Soon that will be all that's left of it, images.
