    Had fun with this. Decently long as well. My (lyric) bass struggled a bit with the higher parts, but that is part of the learning curve, I presume. With your help my voice didn't get too tired. I managed to practice the higher parts without too much strain. Happy!

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  4 роки тому +1

      The Rossini scale is a great one - it's an octave and a fifth. I feel like I played that in this video but maybe not. Pretty sure I did in the soprano version (coming out on 7 Dec.) You could sing it down an octave (or two!)

    Hi Jeff! This is awesome! I'm not a beginner but the last sustain excercises leave me very tired. Is this normal? It seems very intense

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  4 роки тому +1

      Exercises that challenge us or feel intense offer us insight into how efficiently we're using our voices. If it seems really intense, see if you can identify any specifics? Is it one particular vowel change or something else? Is it the speed of the exercise or just note duration? Identifying the challenge gives us the opportunity to address it directly. That's how we make progress!
      Great question!
      Jeff

    • @tomaswilliams6481

      @@JeffRolka Hi Jeff!! Thanks for the reply! I don't really have any issues with vowels in that range, the airflow makes them easy for me. I think it's the duration of that whole section, after the lip trill I start full of energy but sustaining so many vowels near the pesaggio is tough! I just wanted to know if it's normal to find that area challenging in its length. Btw I love your videos and your energy, it has helped me incredibly!

    A question I've always wanted to ask regarding most lesson, regarding the higher stuff usually. Is it ok to sing them a little quieter and then build up the volume, as long as the engagement etc is still good?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  4 роки тому +1

      It depends on how you're doing it and the tone quality. Quiet with adduction is alright, quiet with abduction probably won't work. Individual differences however can mean that for some, it might work out quite well.
