  • This video shows me making a small lightweight bushcraft fire set for cooking over a camp fire. I quickly go through many blacksmithing basics as I make the components. I show pointing, curls, localized cooling, loops, hooks, and the use of jigs. At the end it shows the fire set in use over a campfire.
    Beckett’s Blacksmithing
At Beckett’s Blacksmithing I specialize in hand forged products and custom decorative ironwork. I use traditional tools and methods and heat my steel in a coal fired forge. In addition to this, I use modern tools such as welders, power tools, and gas torches to bring this ancient trade into the modern era.

Thanks. I made this for a canoe trip I went on a couple years ago. I wanted it to be small, compact and light. It worked quite well.

Looks like my grand kids need this set. A lot of good info in this video thanks. I have been making specialty tools with a torch, welding machine and hammer for a long time. Time to play a little and make what I want. Not that it wasn't play before.

Most of this set would be doable with a torch. I find this little fire set is great for hiking or canoe camping. It packs up nice and small.

The pot hook was 3/8" round cut 16" long. The two "S" hooks were 1/4" round cut 8" long. All these pieces together weigh 3 pounds.
