For all of the people saying "you don't need to do this - or don't spend all this - blah, blah". Well let me tell you if you have a severe infestation, you will do just about ANYTHING to get rid of these little critters! Mr. Piacenza's info was great. Sometimes you need the advice if an expert! Thanks so much!
Here's some pointers that I hope help some of you: Vacuum the entire house and all furniture like crazy, 3 times a day if you have to, and dump the contents in appropriate manner, but get that OUT of your house so the fleas you just collected don't jump out back into your house. Even spray the contents with a spray bottle full of mosquito spray or something fleas hate.Sweep hard flooring daily.

I got rid of mine cheap and with minimal effort and time. Bought 4 products from Wal-Mart. First Dawn Ultra detergent - $1.00. Add it to a cup of water and place on the floor and shine a light on it (lamp, flashlight, etc.) In a few areas around the house. Shut off all lights at night but these and fleas are attracted to the light and will die in the Dawn water. Second is a typical flea collar - approximately $3.00. Bathe animal and wash your hair with Dawn detergent, put flea collar on pet and leave the house with them for a couple hours. Third, bed bug fogger - $9.84. Set them off in every room. Four, flea powder - $5.99. Dust everything with the powder and let it sit awhile then vacuum up. Fleas are gone. Extra precautions: set out fresh Dawn water for a few days to make sure no more fleas jump in, and second, continue to dust carpets with the flea powder a couple hours before you usually vacuum to prevent further problems. I did this a month ago and have twice dusted the carpets before vacuuming. I was eat up with bites and my cat was constantly scratching. I haven't seen one flea and my cat nor I have itched one bit. Total - Approximately $20.00 Time - Approximately 5 - 6 hours, most of it waiting on bombs to finish and going back to air out the house.
Char Fox I would be remiss if I did not stop and write a huge THANK YOU for you taking the time to explain all this. Out of nowhere, we have fleas everywhere and it's the worst! Thank you so much for your step by step advice. I'm to the point where I'm ready to abandon the house and all my belongings and start a new life somewhere far away from these horrible little monsters. Thank you so very much. I'm doing everything you said today. Please, cross your fingers for me that it works for us too!
Char Fox I just found fleas on my strictly indoor cat today. They were all over her. And she sleeps primarily on my bed right next to me. After watching several vids and reading numerous comments I find yours the most practical. I will try this. Bc I'm at a complete loss how she got them. She's 7 yrs old and been indoors since she was 6wks old (when I brought her home). And have never had a problem till now. I usually bathe her two to three times a year and have never seen fleas until today. She has never been around other pets or has been outside. I don't want to sleep in my bed now haha.
D Goody All it takes is one of the pests coming in on your clothes. And if you have carpeting, they will overrun your house. I tried flea bombs, flea powder, etc. When I used bedbug bombs instead of just flea bombs, and added the Dawn solutions, it's the first time we got relief.
Boric acid is banned in the UK even for pest control. So that should make one wonder how safe it is. Boric acid , it is claimed, is toxic to humans and pets but "only when ingested in large quantities".
Great Video, thank you. I'm wondering, is Borid/boric acid and pyrethrin from EcoSmartpesticide be safe for cats? What proportions are used to make the mix? Where can I get one of those squeeze bottle applicators? We want to make sure it is safe to apply to surfaces. Many Thanks Michael
I don't understand when these videos are made you ask them questions for help and they never answer you back just don't understand that🤔 very frustrating
Thank you for sharing your expertise!! 👍 Are the Boric Acid & EcoExempt D Dust insecticides safe to use around a house cat or small pets? I live in Colorado where people are a lot less informed about flea control. For over 30 years we've never had problems with fleas, never even seen one. But now I think my cat, who goes outside everyday, may have contacted some.
You must take a multiple step approach. We first dusted with Diatomaceous earth. Washed our pets with flea and tick shampoo, then immediately put flea collars on them. Then sprayed IGR. Then vacuum a lot (we cut up chunks of flea collar and put it in the vacuum dust collector), wash clothing, bedding, pet toys on hot and then dry on hot for as long as possible. Then we repeated all this again in another 2 weeks.
Cut flea collar ? That sounds extremely stupid since a vacuum sucks air in NOT out plus no need to waste extra cash on a wasted flea collar since the vacuum itself destroys fleas at any stage. The suction alone can destroy them but just to be safe empty the vacuum filter down the toilet and watch the live ones get flushed to HELL.
Use precor 2000 plus. Borax and DE make a total mess and you _will_ breathe it in. precor kills and prevents them from reproducing for months after a single treatment. Use as directed and let dry before allowing other people/pets to enter a room. It is 100% safe for mammals once dried. Kittens, infants, you name it. I tried de, vacuuming, natural remedies, salt even. Finally decided to buy a can of precor and I haven't seen a flea in months. Black magic.
I had a big flea infestation in 2017 and even a professionnal treatment with dragnet and bombs could not get me rid of these pests. I bought a steam machine and passed it everywhere especially in the crack floors and carpets. Results did not wait to manifest. After one or two heat treatments, fleas at every stage of growth disappeared completely. And they never returned so far. If so I will know what to do.
I tried steaming everything but it didn't work unfortunately. However, according to your experience looks like I'll have try it again! Wish me luck, 2 months in & I'm So over this!
@@cat5457 It may be necessary to repeat the steam treatment once or twice especially in cracks. Some eggs and even imagos may have escaped and they will unfortunately reappear. Probably in lesser numbers. Steam is the most efficient tool I've experimented but that doesn't mean the others are useless. Like vacuum cleaners, insecticide bombs (provided that they don't only kill adult fleas but at all stage of life of the insect). Flea traps with soapy water will not get rid completely of the fleas, but if you install many of these, they will indicate you where the infestation is at its worse and you will priotize these places.
this dude really knew was he was talkin about. i bought the PT Alpine Flea Insecticide with IGR for furniture and the Petcor Flea Spray with Precor IGR for the dogs and cats and it worked! that crap from petco didnt work. my flea infestation was a fuckin nightmare! i got this stuff from do your own pest control online. hope this helps people that are suffering like i did
Sophisticated White Man is that the actual name? My daughter has them bad! I'm visiting from.CA and getting bit like crazy! I bought stuff from.petco...seems to work, but they are still here. WHAT EXACTLY DID U BUY? DID U HAVE TO DO SOME HOME MIXING? IF SO, WHAT EXACTLY AND HOW MUCH!!??
Going through it now I had my dog with the seresto collar and I guess it want tight enough so it didnt work I bought the advantix drops and I hope they work I seen some on him still though now I have the fleas in the house i bombed all the rooms and it didnt kill all of them yes u read it didnt and work so now i went oldschool and used Clorox in the wooden floors but theres a few still around hopefully i win this war its 2 wars my dog and the house i havent been sleeping well because of this anxiety
This is miserable and keeps going 😣 Wearing me out. Thank you for this concise explanation. Gonna try the boric acid. (Have tried bowls of dawny water, vacuuming, essential oils, salt, baking soda, salt and soda combined, apple cider vinegar, diatomaceous earth. Pray a prayer 🙏 Thank you
What is the green bottle called and where do we get one for our powder? The powder is pricey and doesn't distribute well with the can it comes in, likely on purpose. I have a small apartment and need to move lots of stuff. Probably will spray it down and take it to storage so I can clean carpets and furniture thoroughly, then clean the things I bring in before they are back in my house.
I'm feeding, breeding candy to these horrid creatures. Living briefly with my dad started it off. Now I feel like an infested animal in my own flat. I wish they did frontline for humans because these things are like glue on me. I can't see them but I feel them. Everybody I spend time with are fine and think I'm going crazy which makes things so much harder. This does happen and is happening to me. Im so tired and weary with it and worked my ass off to try and get shut. In my younger days I had 3 dogs and didn't have anything remotely like this. It's a never-ending nightmare.
You are not alone with this nightmare experience, for you was 4 yrs ago, for me I in battle with these creepy insects from the last 4 months. My husband and my son, they don’t feel them , but for me ?, always find their way to attached to my clothes , they invade my whole home 😔., and affect my emotions and my energy, I only want to run away and start from “0”, I’m tired to be washing clothes and putting in plastic bags for don’t be contaminated?, and even in the plastic bags , Can find a way to climb ., I don’t see on TV programs or something, to help us with preventive Information about plagues, and how much affect the living. Hope you doing better , let us know , what’s happened.
@@carmenv.mateos4586 Hope you’ve won the war! I heard some ppl just use a steam cleaner and steamed everything every day for like 2 weeks. Someone used a shop vac - she didn’t give details, but I’m guessing she vacuumed every day for a week or two.
@@Laurenski67 thank you 😊 Yes I Did 🙏 And also , Thanks to God and all the tutorials related to fleas, I managed to get rid of them without knowing it ?, I called two exterminators 4 months later and when they checked my house they did not find fleas, but they did smell the insecticides, so my work was excellent and exhaustive!, but I kept feeling itchy and I couldn't even sit on my sofa, recliner, my bed and more,,, I saw little black dots on my bedspread, towels, clothes, etc., I was invaded by these insects that apparently already They weren't fleas! And it was impossible to take a piece of clothing from my closet that was free of these bugs? They entered through the roof of my house, when a branch of my nearby tree hit the edge of my roof after a storm, making a hole, through which thousands or millions of mites entered! They only affected me, I saw it as impossible My war, which according to me were fleas? mites after the fleas continued, I stopped using flea insecticides and started using Diatomaceus earth powder, apple vinegar spray, alcohol spray, baking soda, and all clothes washed in hot water, and stored in plastic bags so they wouldn't get contaminated with these mites! I had to put a sticker roll over my clothes and they stuck there, no one believed they were mites, I kept cleaning and by April of this year, they stopped feeling them, Right now I can say that patience and perseverance are the keys to victory against these insects! And my faith in God gave me the strength to overcome everything! I didn't have to escape from my house, I thought it was a hopeless case 😞, but little by little everything was returning to normal. The products that I used first for fleas were; Raid flea carpet & room, Raid flea fogs, Orthon insecticide spray against fleas, Martin IG regulator, bifetrin insecticide and carpet washing and vacuuming a lot of sofas, beds, carpets, I wish you good luck, Patience and faith for those who are currently dealing with these horrible insects.
@@carmenv.mateos4586y Were the mites biting you under the clothes in the back and stomach area? Sorry, I'm trying to understand your problem. Wasn’t it fleas, was it mites ? We have been bitten for seven months, and we used all kinds of fleas control, also I only saw fleas once at the beginning of the problem, but I noticed that there were mites on the windows from the outside in abundance and they had like nests inside the edges of the windows. Is this insect the reason for my suffering and not the fleas?
I used 4 boxes of borax on my wooden floors& spread threw out tbe house..i left it on for 5 days. Also lots of vacuuming& i mopped with pinesol&.amonia, not mixed with each othet. We flea bombed 4 different times, that didnt seem to work. It takes lots of patience to get rid of fleas, its challenging.
Mike knows his fleas. I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of fleas this guy has eliminated over the years? I also like the idea of not using really strong pesticides inside the home...
We treated our cats with Comfortis. After two weeks of DIY & storebought failure - I had my house professionally treated last week. I’m still seeing fleas here & there. I’m getting bitten, but not nearly as much as before. I brush my cats & have bathed them & get quite a few dead fleas off them daily. I also still find some half dead, jittering fleas around my house. How long after a professional spray, as well as continuous daily cleaning & laundry, will we see no fleas? Should I have them come back & treat my house again? The stuff they used had a growth inhibitor. I understand they have cycles, and I’m wondering if the fleas I’m finding are the ones that are hatching.
World Class Athletes I had the professionals come back in and spray again, but am still seeing live fleas. That was only two days ago, so I’m not sure how long it takes for them to die. I’m still cleaning as often as I can and doing laundry frequently.
how about in my air conditioner vents when AC is off for 4 hrs, I had them cleaned back in May, and I think they disrupted an old nest, then there's a box of old paper I opened and a cleaning service that all happened within that 1 last week in May, then bam, crazyville, your video is awesome, if I got a response, I'd probably hire your services, because I live local, and not all pest control companies are the same. What's the telephone number?
I didn't know about the 4 different stages and that is probably why my fogger don't work. I have an infestation in one house and they are moving to where ever I go to like the new house.
Thank you for the video! I sprayed flea spray from the pet supplies store. Is it normal for your pet cat to act different after applying? Anyone else have noticed this? I gave my cat flea medicine two days ago and started cleaning yesterday and sprayed yesterday and today. She is currently wanting to stay on high surfaces like table. Not consistent but more than normal. Thanks for any thoughts!
It's 4 months since your post. Is your cat still alive or has it's health been damaged in any way? ANYTHING but 100% natural methods contains pyrethrin & pyrethroids WHICH CAUSE SEIZURES, NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS AND RENAL FAILURE IN MAMMALS. I've lost 2 small dogs to both veterinary flea control AND vaxxx!nes. Diatomaceous earth & boric acid, (20 Mule Team Boron), are natural and safe for mammals.
Fleas and ticks are AWFUL here in Florida. Usually, fleas and ticks are dormant in winter - but the "winter" here's too hot (50's @ night & 80's during the day). It's a year round fight that's impossible to win.
Hi I used a home flea spray three days ago and I want to steam clean my carpets, will be that ok to do or will it bring up the insecticide in a harmful way?
Using salt or baking powder on your carpets will help. Make sure you broom sweep it in deep an leave it for as long as you can. Flea comb your pets everyday. I would not use chemicals around my pets or their bedding. I make flea traps with water, soap and light. It traps loads. Also hoovering everyday helps.
Boric acid is not an acid at all and it is not a chemical. It is found in nature, in sea water and in healing waters. It was in the natural water supplies before dangerous chemicals were introduced and are now universally used to public water supplies. Boric Acid is Boran and hydrogen peroxide, that is Boran and water with an extra hydrogen molecule. It is less toxic than salt, that is, it is perfectly safe and non toxic and in fact is does have healing qualities. Look up Boric Acid in healing water.
Hi two times an exterminator came to use pesticide in my home I used 13 cans of zodiac spray on boards, bed, carpets.Fleas continue to bite me,wherever J going wash in hot water the clothes, leave them outside..Its very sad. What should I do?Thank you.
sir, I'm a senior and have been mopping with bleach (1/2 cup to a gallon) and vacuming twice a day and using diatomaceous earth. Will this work? been at it about 10 days. They seem to be dimishing but friend are telling me to bomb which means i have to get my cats out and frankly don't have the money to house them. Is the bomb approach going work even? Please if you can, live in PA if that matters at all. Thank you.
I saw you dusting the dog bed , I thought boric acid had to be kept " away " from pets as it can harm them , unlike diatermatous earth ? so is it safe to dust the dog bed with boric acid ???? I would really like to know. many thanks.
i want to know are ghey visable and does the same thing work if there are bed bugs Terminix said there are no bed bugs but these bites are from.something
i kinda wish i saw this video before when i did have fleas in my house. it was flipping hell in my house until my mum called the council 2 times to spray and it finally went. it was also quite expensive.
How much did she pay ? And what did they do ? Did they fumigation the entire home ? I’m search for something more extreme, apart From exterminator treatments. Let us know Thanks
I have 2 adult cat and one kitten. They keep getting fleas. We treat them with a chemical that we put on the back of their necks. The fleas die, but in a few days are back. I want to treat the house with something that will not do my kitties harm. What would you suggest? Our kitties never go outside. We live on 6 country acres. Could the fleas be getting into the house from outside. Should we spray outside? With what?
Sorry you didn't get answered back. I don't understand these people that make the videos, won't answer anyone's questions. I'll ask, and no answer, makes no sense, but they want supporters.
How would one get rid of fleas(in all stages) in a garage with power junction box and water heater? Can I turn off the water heater and power box and use one flea bomb first then borax and such?? I have two babies and need to kill off fast inexpensively as possible. Natural proffered but desperate at this point.
Good info about the flea - but - I know what the Boric Acid Powder is - you say mix with a good botanical. (?) What / which one is that? Can I use with my cat right there? I have purchased some PreCor 2000 Plus but you say mix with botanicals again. You don't specify. Even the PreCor says I must remove my cat until dry.... Is that correct? Please help. I have a severe infestation in my house. This is the only video that has made sense - but still have questions! Thanks!
Is it possible to have fleas and never see any evidence? I'm getting bit by something, 6 bites, that I have severe reaction to, turn into huge swollen big welts. My dog is itchy and has some sores but has had this for years vet always says is allergies with bacterial infection and they clear up with treatment. I don't see any fleas or flea dirt on him. I have carpet. I did the little flea trap thing with Dawn detergent and there is one small black thing in there. Could it be something else or is it likely a flea? I didn't see anything in the dog's bed. I see black specks here and there, but they could just be dirt, I'm not sure, there were maybe 2 or 3 in the dog's bed, but I can't tell if they are just dirt pieces or bug pieces, they don't look like bugs. Could they be hiding in the carpet and just coming out to bite me or the dog and not living on him?
one cup of dawn per bucket of hot water and slosh the hell out of your floor and baseboards (they hide in the lower regions) then get flea spray for carpets and overturn you couch or recliner and spay the underside of that. And since they thrive in humid conditions i purchased a dehumidifier for my room. i have maybe one or two bites waking up in the morn but other indicators are good: minimal pet scratching and nothing in the Dawn light traps. i hope i can stay ahead.
Please Please answer!! This shows you spraying the powder right into the dog bed with the doggie right there - so every other place that sells the Boric Acic says it can't be sprayed around pets or children! ! (!??!) which is right??
jmluvsfatleg thank you! Don't treat bedding of pets, don't treat pet toys or climbing trees. Don't care if it's a earth friendly product or what the manufacturer says. Consult a vet. I'm a pest control tech and that's like a top 3 rule in the company behind don't spray rude customers in the face.
Dawn 4x dish soap... Wash pets in this, fleas are gone. Dawn suffocates and kills them almost instantly. After first bath let them be. Still scaratching... Coat them in Dawn before water. ❤

Diatomaceous earth is also good. Sprinkle in their bedding after vacuuming or washing them. Putting it on the animal is safe. Its all natural. Just don't inhale it and don't let the animal inhale it. You can even feed it to them if they have certain types of worms. But it must be food grade.
@@Empress_Von probley bc when you inhale things it goes to your lungs and can cause mucus membranes to fight and produce mucus to build up around the particles that were inhaled causing inflammation now you got you a case of pneumonia.
Please do not put diatomaceous earth ON yr pets or where they might inhale it. It severely dries the skin and cats lick it and breathe it in off their coat. It causes calcification in the lungs.
That helps a little but won't eliminate them. Also if you use too much and vacuum it up it can break your vacuum. You will need to vacuum first with a shopvac then use your good vacuum. I tried Diatomaceous Earth and Borax and it didn't really help. It sure was difficult to clean up. You've been warned. Make sure you treat your pets and spray an IGR on your carpet, and drapes, and use some on your hard floors. Spray some in your pet bed too. It makes it so the eggs don't hatch.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have fleas, but I do not have any pets. I vacuum, exterminator has been here multiple times. They are coming from outside I know because when I walk outside they jump on my ankles. I don’t know what to do :(

my cat had fleas and my house was full of them, they multiply fast, what I did was at night I turned off all lights and bought those little lights you connect in the outlet and near that I would put a plate with water, the fleas would go to the light and jump into the water and I caught a lot like this in a couple of days..they go to where there is light so getting these are good and a large plate but not too high, they won't come out of water, they drown..it really worked

I'm doing everything you said today. Please, cross your fingers for me that it works for us too!
Anna Grace Did it help your problem? I'm still dusting with flea powder occasionally. But I haven't had the itching anymore nor seen any fleas.
D Goody Try food grade diatomaceous earth. It is safe to put a light dusting on your bed, carpet, furniture and pets.
This has been helpful but how safe are these products in a house with an infant
P.S. You seem like such a nice guy and honest guy, I want to call you with my issue....
It was 4 years ago -- just wondering if it got rid of them?
@@flower-the-earth he probably moved or something
@@iVerzed 😂😂
Cut flea collar ? That sounds extremely stupid since a vacuum sucks air in NOT out plus no need to waste extra cash on a wasted flea collar since the vacuum itself destroys fleas at any stage. The suction alone can destroy
them but just to be safe empty the vacuum filter down the toilet and watch the live ones get flushed to HELL.
Oh noooo! RIP neighbours ! The fleas got rid of this family. ☠️
I have four cats, live is Florida, USE REVOLUTION on my cats every once in a while, and have absolutely no problem with fleas!
What brands of boric acid and botanical pesticide do you recommend?
Use precor 2000 plus. Borax and DE make a total mess and you _will_ breathe it in.
precor kills and prevents them from reproducing for months after a single treatment.
Use as directed and let dry before allowing other people/pets to enter a room.
It is 100% safe for mammals once dried. Kittens, infants, you name it.
I tried de, vacuuming, natural remedies, salt even. Finally decided to buy a can of precor and I haven't seen a flea in months. Black magic.
Thanks for the info. Did you do anything besides the Precor2000 plus?

Can you recommend specific product I can buy for different life stages I can use in my home that are safe for a cat living in the home?
Good luck getting an answer, he's not answering anyone's questions!
What did you sprinkle on the dog bed?? Thank you.
Marc Bergeron dealing with that now. So annoying
For the cats and the dogs: Advantage II, for the environment have you tried the steam machine ?
Marc Bergeron Advantage 2 didn't do jack for my cat. Big waste of money.
The product recommended ,eco-smart exempt, is no longer available. Can you recommend a substitute?

What is the green bottle called and where do we get one for our powder? The powder is pricey and doesn't distribute well with the can it comes in, likely on purpose. Very informative video, thanks for sharing with us!
It's a never-ending nightmare.
have you won the war on fleas yet?

And also ,
Thanks to God and all the tutorials related to fleas, I managed to get rid of them without knowing it ?, I called two exterminators 4 months later and when they checked my house they did not find fleas, but they did smell the insecticides, so my work was excellent and exhaustive!, but I kept feeling itchy and I couldn't even sit on my sofa, recliner, my bed and more,,, I saw little black dots on my bedspread, towels, clothes, etc., I was invaded by these insects that apparently already They weren't fleas!

As a technician I advise any of customers that have fleas to vacume offer after the treatment.
Diatomaceous earth is also good. Sprinkle in their bedding after vacuuming or washing them. Putting it on the animal is safe. Its all natural. Just don't inhale it and don't let the animal inhale it. You can even feed it to them if they have certain types of worms. But it must be food grade.
How the hell you want us to eat it but not inhale
