Attuned Micaiah singlehandedly destoyed Yune's niche. She's able to nuke better. She gives amazing support to allies and debuffs to enemies. She actually has DR piercing & Trace. The only thing she misses herself is some more DR like Yune but with all the DR piercing going around that hardly matters anymore. EDIT: Oh yeah she gets warping too so you don't even need to run soaring guidance to be able to warp anyone around
Now you've got me wanting to pair them together simply because; even with Yune's niche, I don't remember her having a lot of usage or seeing players/cpu's using her when her gimmick was introduced
For those wondering, Breath of Life being a top tier skill is a long running Fehology meme. Years and years old, and finally actually true somehow. All they had to do was make BoL4 function COMPLETELY differently from BoL3. Like fully different other than them both being healing C slot skills.
Just want to point out that Attuned Nino can run Sothe's weapon with her prf C slot to instantly charge Lethality or an AoE special with zero exterior support lol.
Bane is worse offensively than Lethality, at least just considering proc. Ig you can reduce lethalities output more directly with -atk effects, but you can actually just one shot with lethality.

So, I tested out the interactions between Fatal smoke and the half deep wounds effect with Brave Claude, and the deep wounds halving effect doesn't work after combat (only during it, just as the description says), Claude heals 0 hp with gatekeeper's healing after combat, so Ike won't get healed with Great Aether
Thinking of who to give BoL 4. Probably my highest merged mythics for the two different seasons, which would be Gotoh and Naga. Sure, Naga has a prf C skill but that thing gets worse and worse with every year so I might as well immortalise her usefulness with this skill as a support. Since im at it, might as well give Naga the new arcane weapon from Lumera to make her not a total deadweight. As for Gotoh, if I can get my hands on LF 4, he might actually be really good now, like an E!Ike light.

Duo Lyon at base reaches over 50 Def thanks to the massive Def buffs he gets from his A and weapon, which scale with his huge Res. It kinda looks like Duo Lyon was future-proofed against BoL4, as he will be the unit that will still deal the most amount of damage while allowing the least amount of healing. Most Duo Lyon in AR-D run Fatal Smoke, which cuts BoL4's healing in half. Unless your tank comes with a massive Def swing (either a Def buff for itself or a Def debuff on the foe), Lyon will more often than not deal more damage than what he lets you heal. How I see things is that BoL4 is NOT a splashable skill, since you need to be able to with the Def check against Lyon to be able to take on the maps that deploy him. If your units doesn't have a good match-up against Lyon, BoL4 doesn't really improve it, especially if Lyon diminishes your healing by out-Def'ing your unit. However, despite not being splashable, BoL4 is still meta-shaping, as it now defines what constitutes a good burn damage unit: You need to have a massive Def swing and also run Fatal Smoke, so stuff like Devoted Basket Kvasir might fall out of favor due to having low Def. As such, Duo Lyon was not hard-counter; he instead remains to be king in the post-BoL4 burn damage meta.
It makes Ike wreck Lyon though (which, lets face it, is 90% of the teams you'll face). My Ike takes ~40 pre-combat damage from Lyon, with 70 hp, and has easily over 80 def in combat. So, BoL maxes out at ~68 healing (halved by fatal smoke to 34), and easily maxes out with that def stat. So Lyon nets 6 pre-combat damage, then makes some pinging noises.

Sick low-key Edelgard burn Joel ;) I have kind of mixed feelings with this. While I believe that an answer to burn damage needed to exist in a world where Ike didn't exist, what this does is remove the last layer of counters Ike had that he couldn't counter back. As of today, there's 3 things that deal with Ike: Y!F! Robin, which he can trivialize with positioning by forcing her not to rally, or his own Rally Spectrum, AoE, which he can trivialize with Gotoh/Lumera, now on either season, and a combination of Fatal Smoke units, most successfully accomplished with V! Lyon and Devoted Basket/Flared Sparrow/Occultist's Strike Kvasir. As of today, only the latter is a surefire way to kill Ike through whatever amount of support you can give him, and I FEEL that's gone now. He's gonna be able to heal before the first burn, keeping him super safe for the first combat, he's not gonna heal through GA, but he's gonna get BoL'd again after the second nuke's burn, and it's very unlikely either of the nukes will even reach double digits of damage against Ike, even on his most """"""vulnerable"""""" first hit. As if that wasn't enough, this also makes him even safer through AoEs, to the point where Gotoh is irrelevant and not even worth relying on in a world where buff stealing/cleansing exists. Lumera was already enough to survive, but a Fatal Smoke Ursula/Igrene would still leave Ike low enough that he could get merc'd by the follow up. Well, not anymore they won't... He probably won't even NEED Lumera to walk out alive. As much as I enjoy using Ike myself, I don't think this is healthy either. I feel we're just trading one cancer (burn) for another (a truly invincible Ike). And if you put BoL4 on Ike himself, he can even afford to get feuded. That MFer...
Joel didn't even mention the most important part about breath of life 4, which is that now units like Y!Lissa and B!Claude can stack deep wounds reduction. truly the most impactful aspect of this new skill
I think we're at a moment where Ike IS the counter, that's why he's just getting even more stronger, and then eventually he will be next thing to get countered by eventual anti-tank heroes coming along the lines.

@@FEH that is certainly the question. I believe traditionally, bane can kill an enemy who is at 1%. Theoretically from how I imagine it, once they drop to 1, the whole back half of the skill no longer applies. Once they are at 1, it is just a normal special that cuts enemy defense and pierces DR. It would act like any other special. If the question is “do you kill, if yes kill, if no leave at 1 hp” for Bane normally, once you are already at 1 HP the question then is “after reducing def by 40% and negating non special Dr, can you damage the opponent? If yes, they die, if no then you were gonna ting off anyway.” If the whole ending text of the weapon specifically applies only to foes more more than 1 HP, saying either you kill or leave them at 1 HP, then after they are at 1 HP the special text doesn’t apply anymore.
@@FEH I mean, its still a good build if the opponent uses units that have a prf C skill that they need. Otherwise BoL4 is a go-to for support, at least for tanks. I'm more of a nuker. I'm still gonna use melt and other stuff. I think Drag Back might be useful if you can stalemate and get them out of BoL4 support range.
Gonna be giving Close BD and Laguz Friend 4 to R!Sothe just to dupe it but I feel like it could also be a secret sleeper build for him with Emblem Ike + Bane's unpierceable dr to make him an Omnitank. Either way Sothe and Micaiah got all the stuff they needed, I wish the Thracia banner got this treatment.

Isnt it a little over exagerated to say that pre combat dmg and Lyon are flat out dead? BOL4 is going to be locked in a 5 star unit that not everyone will summon or fodder. Sure, now there will now be an available counter, but we will still see Lyon wrecking chaos 90% of the time instead of 100%
Breath of life 4 is great for tanks as I said it once and I'll say it again tanks should be aloud to tank, FEH shouldn't be dominated by only OP glass cannon cav nukes
I feel like saying BoL is actually a counter to lyon is ridiculous because he’s broken because he cancels turns, not because you literally can’t survive an atk from him, not that his attacking isn’t still potent. I mean he could just run feud effects and BoL4 could be ignored and even considering them he could try to precharge. Or even use fatal smoke. Not every character even has a ton of Def.
No but the best tanks RN have a ton of def cause they're all Laguz Friend 4 units running with Engaged Ike. The idea being that most of these fully kitted omni units live Lyon, the issue is they can't counter so they die on the follow up unit/dance (in all my omni tank testing, my B! Dimitri can take him with many different setups but always dies to the #2 attacker). If you can totally negate that pre DMG based off your massive def difference on those omnis, pre heal before each combat, and get a lil more def to boot, you'll solo the rest of the Lyon's team in AR then just wack him to finish the job when it is your turn again
I mean I freaking hate the guy so him getting a little less relevant is all good. He's totally OP and you know it, he needs to be taken down a peg. And if it takes another broken unit like Ike to do it, then so be it. Because it's Ike, he deserves the title to be strongest compared to anyone.

Every character I care about they’ve already added, and the game’s just a seesaw between different powerful effects. FeH is pretty terrible

In a way where you have to synergize your team and their skills to effectively counter the threat you don't like. Ike himself alone without support will die fast even with how tanky he may be, with the right counters for him. It's just in this case there isn't something like that yet for Lyon, and now we're getting it. It's not going to even hard counter him that right, especially his count stopping gimmick. And eventually there will be a new unit to come to pair him up with that can make him easily get pass the BOL. Another soft counter against another one. I don't think it's going to be at the level where the games are going to end because of it. It just opens up play styles and the results of these soft counters vs soft counters are the winning teams will be effectively decided on the matchups. So it's pretty balanced. It's just going to be like Pokemon type matchups. It's all strategy.

If the question is “do you kill, if yes kill, if no leave at 1 hp” for Bane normally, once you are already at 1 HP the question then is “after reducing def by 40% and negating non special Dr, can you damage the opponent? If yes, they die, if no then you were gonna ting off anyway.”
If the whole ending text of the weapon specifically applies only to foes more more than 1 HP, saying either you kill or leave them at 1 HP, then after they are at 1 HP the special text doesn’t apply anymore.
Im in the same boat about hard counters but yeah Leon had to be brought down a peg

@@FEH I mean, its still a good build if the opponent uses units that have a prf C skill that they need. Otherwise BoL4 is a go-to for support, at least for tanks. I'm more of a nuker. I'm still gonna use melt and other stuff. I think Drag Back might be useful if you can stalemate and get them out of BoL4 support range.
Gonna be giving Close BD and Laguz Friend 4 to R!Sothe just to dupe it but I feel like it could also be a secret sleeper build for him with Emblem Ike + Bane's unpierceable dr to make him an Omnitank. Either way Sothe and Micaiah got all the stuff they needed, I wish the Thracia banner got this treatment.

I feel like saying BoL is actually a counter to lyon is ridiculous because he’s broken because he cancels turns, not because you literally can’t survive an atk from him, not that his attacking isn’t still potent.
I mean he could just run feud effects and BoL4 could be ignored and even considering them he could try to precharge. Or even use fatal smoke. Not every character even has a ton of Def.
No but the best tanks RN have a ton of def cause they're all Laguz Friend 4 units running with Engaged Ike. The idea being that most of these fully kitted omni units live Lyon, the issue is they can't counter so they die on the follow up unit/dance (in all my omni tank testing, my B! Dimitri can take him with many different setups but always dies to the #2 attacker). If you can totally negate that pre DMG based off your massive def difference on those omnis, pre heal before each combat, and get a lil more def to boot, you'll solo the rest of the Lyon's team in AR then just wack him to finish the job when it is your turn again
I mean I freaking hate the guy so him getting a little less relevant is all good. He's totally OP and you know it, he needs to be taken down a peg. And if it takes another broken unit like Ike to do it, then so be it. Because it's Ike, he deserves the title to be strongest compared to anyone.

I’d rather them never add another unit to the game than keep this up, i think FeH would actually be a better game if they just never added units again and it stayed Lyon hell forever, because they can’t go back to a reasonable game, we’re just gonna get bigger ikes and bigger lyons forever.
Every character I care about they’ve already added, and the game’s just a seesaw between different powerful effects.

@@samkeiser9776it's not like they're pushing hard counters full on, it's all soft counters. In a way where you have to synergize your team and their skills to effectively counter the threat you don't like. Ike himself alone without support will die fast even with how tanky he may be, with the right counters for him. It's just in this case there isn't something like that yet for Lyon, and now we're getting it. It's not going to even hard counter him that right, especially his count stopping gimmick. And eventually there will be a new unit to come to pair him up with that can make him easily get pass the BOL. Another soft counter against another one. I don't think it's going to be at the level where the games are going to end because of it. It just opens up play styles and the results of these soft counters vs soft counters are the winning teams will be effectively decided on the matchups. So it's pretty balanced. It's just going to be like Pokemon type matchups. It's all strategy.
