IATA or International Air Transport Association was formed for over 70 years ago. The main goal was to regulate all things in airlines and commercial aviation: fare calculations, revenue allocation, baggage rules.

Hi friends! We want to make a few corrections to the video.
1. IATA Traffic Conferences exist separately from General Meetings. They establish passenger and cargo tariffs and procedures.
2. The Advisory Councils don’t actually establish IATA standards, they advise IATA management on policy issues and operations of IATA programs. Standards for travel planning, shopping, technology, accounting and more are set by the Passenger Standards Conference.

Yes! Even the North Korean airline Air Koryo is approved by IATA's safety program, though it's forbidden to operate in the EU.
