I really appreciate the options in a pattern. It irritates me to no end when designers have two different full price patterns with only a minor difference.
It's so frustrating and I really feel like Rebecca goes out of her way to provide SO MANY options in one pattern
Or exactly the same pattern with a different gauge for thicker/thiner yarn 🙄
When you were mentioning how people appreciate your patterns having so many options, I wanted to tell you that I have heard so many people say exactly that and they really appreciate it and it is a lot of extra work for you. Podcasters have talked of it and even the odd knitter I know and I too have noticed it. You are incredible and it is greatly appreciated. Do what you are happy to provide. Yes, people definitely appreciate your generosity.
That’s very true… I’ve noticed that every time Rebecca is mentioned by another podcaster, it’s always in a favourable light.
As a woman of a certain age whose personal temp changes many times throughout the day regardless of the weather, I must say THANK YOU, thank you, thank you for more cardigans!! I love your incredibly thoughtful patterns and appreciate all your options (esp v-necks for that personal heat again). But for me, cardigans are so much easier to *on-off*, repeat *-* 5 more times, than pullovers 😅. So thank you for them, and for all the thought you put into your designs ❤.

I cannot wait for the Steffin to come out. It is beautiful and looks like such a fun knit. Just my opinion, you knits are so wearable and so approachable to knit. The other designer you have referred to, those designs, for me, seems too fussy to wear every day normal life and look they are only made for tall, skinny people. That's just not me. Please keep you designs coming, your work is beautiful!
Can confirm I am neither tall nor skinny, so designs will just have to suit my medium height, medium weight build! But I so appreciate this, making designs that are fun it knit and approachable is always the goal!
Wow, I love all your designs, desperately want to do the Stick season jacket - cardigans are the flavour of the month/year for me because I'm currently pregnant and just can't justify knitting a jumper when my size is fluctuating so much. I also really enjoy your discussions on your design process, it feels really joyful rather than being a frustrating process. Also I didn't really notice you looking at the viewfinder (probably because I was knitting) rather than at the lens, maybe you could stick some bobbly eyes (like in Everything Everywhere All At Once) above your lens so you have some eyes to look into during filming hehe
ALSO I have to say, I don't think it was fair to accuse your Staffin sweater of being too similar to Petite Knit's. Fashion is a constantly cyclical industry, there's very little that hasn't been done or seen before in some aspect - heck, who would have thought the low waisted baggy/flare jeans I wore in the 90s would be back, yikes. Even huge design houses are always referencing their archives, and just like in The Devil Wears Prada these runway/International designers then influence fast fashion chains downstream in seasons to come. I think you bring a size inclusivity and a knowledge about fit that is not necessarily very prevalent in the knitting community (I got hardcore into sewing before pivoting to knitting), and your twist on a classic style sets you apart. What I'm trying to say is, please don't get discouraged by negative comments, we love you and what you're doing!
Kind of still miffed about the hats since I have no knowledge of the ‘original’ and I liked your colour choices. Can’t wait to hear the update though so will tune in then.
Haha I think either you’re in my head or I’m in yours. Ive been free styling a v neck raglan and it’s spiral rib for the top part which I think looks better than regular rib for a v neck then stripes of eyelets followed by diamond slip stitches, then regular rib. I am toying with adding a cable stripe but I’ll see. Just winging it as I go. So not exactly like yours but very very similar.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with being inspired by other peoples designs. I certainly was inspired by petite knit and kikakortova but there were things I liked and disliked about theirs to took what I liked, added my own flare to make something that’s uniquely mine 😊.
so we can saythat knitting Staffing is your Roman Empire? (sorry about the bad joke, had to). That colourful NYX looks so good but sorry the stick season jacket you are making for your mum has stolen my heart. It is giving me cool uni student vibes and I might need one of those for the chilly library mornings! 🤩
I have been wanting to make myself a “gansey?”style sweater and have held back and waffled on the idea, but now am soooo excited to make the Staffen! It is perfect. It is NOT the same as other designers’ and you absolutely do not need to even address that nonsense. You are well known as a designer who has mastered fit and who gives incredible value with every pattern. Your attention to detail and originality are so appreciated. You had me at the bobbles-not-bobbles. Brilliant!

btw I think it’s very different from any other designers patterns and I have made some of the ones you mentioned. So excited for this to be released - please hurry 😂

You always have the best sweater creations. I absolutely love your blue/green colorwork sweater but really love the textured oatmeally colored one with the rib, diamonds. I can’t wait for that.
I’ve knit with unplied and learned to spit splice quite well. lol. You learn to unwind and don’t tug. Can’t wait to hear what your thoughts are.
ooh I am obsessed with your Staffin sweater, it looks oh so cozy! I'd love to knit up a pumpkin spiced coloured one (similar colour to your new honeycomb cable wip). I'm having a difficult time finding Rauma yarns in stock in Canada... what other yarns would you suggest for the Staffin?
I was actually checking yarn sub yesterday and apparently Briggs and Little heritage is a good match. They have some lovely red/oranges!
What a great episode. I have so much to say on the Staffin sweater. 1) THANK YOU for designing a textured raglan sweater. I’ve been craving texture but everything seems to be drop shoulder which I don’t wear well. I thought I might just design one myself since there wasn’t anything like I wanted but yours is perfection! 2) The “bobbles” are called Estonian Buttons and they are SO much fun to knit. I have a shawl pattern with them and I’ve been wanting to incorporate them into a sweater design. 3) I’d love to test knit as soon as you have a testing call but if I don’t make it into the test I’ll definitely be lined up to purchase when it’s available, lol. Thank you for another fun episode. ❤
If i have a problem hearing any wait and use closed captions. It helps me hear better? It's kind of weird, but it helps me.

Me too! The others have CC, but not this one. I missed a lot of the dialogue.
They just take a while to load, if you come back to watch tomorrow then the CC should have loaded.
So excited for the honeycomb pattern. I have never knit cables because I don't necessarily like the look off it. But those honeycombs, wow🥰 I do really hope you change your mind about not adding a v-neck option though. But that is my personal opinion. Keep up the good work Rebecca. I love your patterns with all the options you give.
I think because you said you're a loose knitter that loose plate yarn will be fine... and not break.
I have been wanting to knit a sweater like the new one you're doing but didn't like the construction of petite knit and others because I like the fit of raglans on me better and I like the construction better. Thank you for making a design I like much better! It's like so many I've seen from the past and have fallen in love with. I love all your designs and can't wait to knit them all! 💙
Staffin looks like the perfect knit for me, I absolutely love texture but cables stress me terribly so I avoid them at all costs. I’ll knit Staffin as a vest ie above elbow length sleeves so that I can layer it. If you could possibly push it out pre Christmas it’d be great. You’re a clever girl!
Knits are looking great. I also made a gansey shawl, and it was basically the same motifs as the storm sweater that released when I was writing it up, so that was scrapped. PRO TIP for working with unspun... if you hold it with a strand of lace weight yarn (einband, mohair, alpaca etc) it adds strength which makes the knitting process much more enjoyable and helps reduce pilling.

Men's sweaters are BIG. I finally reached the bottom ribbing on a Stick Season sweater for hubby. Loved doing the shoulder shaping and he really likes the fit - does not like drop shoulders! He can't wait to wear it next week. Hope to spend the ay doing the ribbing and then block it. I have 3 other WIPS that are adult sweaters but when this comes off my needles a Corran gets cast on made from Holtsgarn Tides and Isager Alpaca 1 held together. Got gauge with the way I knit. Can't wait to start and finish it....perfect for fall. I may run outof yarn, so I'll start with elbow length sleeves and see how I like them. LOVE your patterns, especially the easily modifiable Tolstas.
The honeycomb cables are EVERYTHING❤! I just love the look of your cabled sample already! I hope I can test knit when you get to that point! I just finished the Billie cardi by Sari N., and it’s been my all time favorite knit so far! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I’ve made the Ingrid and have been debating on casting on for the Storm but I am now definitely holding off until January for the Staffin! Anyone that has knit either pn sweaters with recall the millions of ends to weave in 😂 I think the raglan design element is gonna make my knitting experience a million times better 😊
I just knit a cardigan flat and I knit the collar shortly after I split for the sleeves. When I did the button band I picked up stitches for the entire body, ribbing and the folded collar for the double knit button band. So you should definitely be able to knit the collar soon on the cable sweater. I didn’t use a pattern but it should work no matter what collar/button band choices you make. Love watching you talk through your patterns: I have absolutely no interest in being a pattern designer, but I do like sweater construction.
Thank you for doing a gansy with a raglan. Drop shoulders just don’t look good on large busts. Also can’t wait for the shawl collar jacket! Coming into spring here in NZ so I have time for these two ❣️
The cabled cardi you showed is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to knit it! For your next weeks cable knit video (if you're showing patterns), I wanted to tell you about this beautiful cableknit sweater that's coming out in late October or maybe November. It's called the Angelica sweater by Solvara Knitwear, and it's amazing (I'm currently testing the pattern for her)
I really enjoyed your podcast. What was the yarn that you used on the fisherman's rib swatch you showed. I love that off white with the flecks of color in it. I also have a Corran on my needles in a bright green color right now.
Your Multi patterns: definitely great business move! I’m extremely stingy with my purchases, but I buy yours just to support your business, even when I’m not planning to knit the pattern immediately.
I tend to do my own modifications on everything- I appreciate that your patterns save me time on the thinking/math because they include so many variations.
Your tuck stitch reminds me of the smocking stitch I used on the ribbing of my last sweater. The thing that has kept me from knitting Storm is that I don't look good in drop shoulder sweaters or the amount of ease that is designed into them. I agree that unless you invented knit and purl, everything is just different combinations. Raglan is my favorite fit.

I can't wait for that Staffin! I am always hot but I really want a sweater in that textured style so maybe in 2 strands of lace alpaca or even drops air. I wonder if that would show the texture. I've seen some amazing textures w/drops air so a lovely white or cream or pale aqua would be so pretty! I might apply to test that one when you put that call out!
So excited for the Nyx pattern. I have some outrageous yarn to use as the contrast, I think it will be fabulous.

I love knitting sweaters too! They are my favourite garments to knit so far. I haven’t made one for myself yet because I have four children. 😂 A non-stop supply of knitting needs.
I do appreciate the multiple options you offer in your patterns. They are very good value for money. I can't wait for your cable knit one to finish as i do need one in my life. Much love❤
I agree, I prefer a raglan sleeve over a drop shoulder sleeve. I tend to avoid those. Oh, your textured sweater has a name, Staffin. I would love to test this. I’ll have to watch for when it comes out.

I love your transparency about choosing to add lots of options to a pattern for business-related reasons. You could have just said nothing and let people assume you added them for the same reasons as for the Lauder, but you didn't! Queen of integrity here 👏🏻
And because you're pretty obviously transparent about your inspirations and such, it's funny to hear about someone saying you're copying Petite Knit. Of course not everyone has to be a hardcore fan of yours and know how you work, but also as you said, almost no designers out there reinvent the wheel to begin with so it feels even more out of place.
I'm curious about the last waffle-like sweater, because I remember you saying that your Billie sweater by Sari Nordlung was uncomfortable to wear because of the honeycomb cables that were the "boa constrictor of cables" (I remember that because I knit this design at the same time as you and ended up with the same issue 😂). Yours has the same construction, same cable motif and same moss stitch filler stitches as the Billie, so will you do things differently to avoid having a constricting fit ? I was wondering if simply having more positive ease would be enough, or maybe using a lighter gauge ? Or both ? I'm very eager to know because this cable motif is beautiful but I'm slightly traumatized by it lol

I was thinking recently about that sweater and realised that I didn't love the fit, but that the reasons I didn't love it were all things in my own control! The main one was the ease around the bust. So the plan is to have plenty of ease, likely 10+cm, and see how it feels! It's going to have a much wider band of honeycomb so that almost the whole front and back are honeycomb. May as well go all in!

I love your Nyx Sweater, but I never heard you mention the yarn weight. It sounds like dk, based on the stitch gauge and needle sizes. Is that right?

I think so! Although it's dropped shouldered so the vest would also have a drop shoulder.
Hi, I love this channel and your knitting and, I know you've had comments about your crazy speedy talk but today I really wasn't able to hear most part of the beginning until I just stopped whatching, it was not only speedy but also unclear. I'm very sorry for this because I really want to hear what your saying. Please please think about this.♥
Oh I really thought I had slowed it down today! As a tip, you can choose to slow the speed down to 80 or 90% with the gear icon in the bottom right corner
I have trouble as well. Today I tried listening with ear buds and that really made a difference!
