Just picturing this in Buenos Aires, for my 30th Birthday is going to be one of the most beautiful gifts in the WHOLE world. :'') Thank you guys! Thank you for not giving up on music and continue composing, recording and playing in a world were music seems to fade away.
If you really dig this then I recommend Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura. I think it is his best album: it's a concept album about Martin Luther and is mostly devoid of some of the cheesy preachiness that can come across from some of his other albums. If you like that then check out Testimony and One.
mathrocker Woah, Thanks! I've read about Sola Scriptura but never listened to it closely and (of course) Testimony is one of those albums everyone recommends me. Would you say Spock's Beard's "Snow" follows that same line?
"I can't imagine what I've missed"... well 8 awesome progalbums ;-) Tough it all goes further where Neal stopped with SB, it's still quite awesome stuff. My favs are One, ? and Sola Scriptura, though there's nothing really bad (you could say: he did this and that trick already, but hey, he does it awefully good anyway). Lifeline is my least favorite, but even that one is a good prog album. Neal just comes out best on concept albums ;-). This overture really gets me warm. Can't wait to get my preorderd copy (or to see live next year)
Fans of Neal Morse fascinated us!!! And thank God we do not have the musical prejudice Dream Theater in our ears! Excellent song!!! EXCELLENT!!! I love!!!
I think a prog rock treatment of PIlgrim's Progress is long, long overdue. If Neal Morse wasn't doing it then I'd have to do it myself. It is the perfect theme for Neal's songs, and of course MIke's drumming makes everything better. Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy's collaboration is the Lennon & McCartney of my generation.
This song is just amazing! After listening to this I can now belive Portnoy when he says this album will be better than Scenes from a Memory.. Can't wait anymore for the whole album!!
nice strong introduction/single for us to get into the the album - definitely a buy - not to mention Mike Portnoy has hyped this one pretty high - I don't doubt it will be a Neal Morse Band best
First I did not really get too excited of this album, but after a few and many listens, it managed to climb up as one of my favourite albums all-time! Cool edit!
No "irony" at all... It is a concept album based on : The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come; Delivered under the Similitude of a Dream is a 1678 Christian allegory written by John Bunyan. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious English literature,[1][2][3][4] has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.[5][6] I find it ironic that so many people misuse use the word "Ironic and irony"
Amazing! "I´ve got to go" 1:41 Thank you #TheNealMorseBand #NealMorse #MikePortnoy #RandyGeorge #EricGillete #BillHubauer for this give #TheSimilitudeOfADream
I was there with my wife, tonight in Dallas, at the Curtain Club! That was a dream come true, first of all, to even get to see you live, and secondly, you were AWESOME! -Dillon
I'm afraid to say that this album could be better than the astonishing ... oO sounds very f! awesome! Looking foreward to the rest! Very nice work guys!
I Wonder if people finding this similar to DT are just getting into Neal Morse (if so, welcome!). Because this sounds VERY Neal Morse. And awesome. Reminds me of Sola Scriptura. Very hyped!
This is awesome! Mike sent out a post the night before this was released to the public reminding us that this is only a small fraction of the album, not to judge the whole album by this alone. Yet some people have already passed judgement. I just want to say 'give the whole album a listen - then decide!'
I CANT WAIT FOR THIS SHOW IN NEW YORK! Love your music Neal! Never give up!!!! I listened to you ever since i was like BORN thank you for your amazing music!
These positive but still somehow disappointed reactions were inevitable after Portnoy's massive hype! :D I think this is top notch stuff, albeit it's got a ton of "morseisms" in structure, melody, sound. Very much looking forward to the album, regardless of any hype!
I pre-ordered this double CD before I watched this music video. Now that I have watched it I am so glad I pre-ordered it and can't wait till it comes in the mail! Strong emotion and artistic beauty to this piece. I love these longer instrumental sections and I have a feeling this new CD set will have lots of it to enjoy. Like everything from Neal and the team I look forward to the edification I know it will bring to those who listen.
Wow this is my first taste of this band after recommendation from a friend. I love it. It brings back memories of Genesis whom I loved but even better is they are Christian! It can be hard to find decent Christian music. It's obviously not worship music but a powerful message anyway! Love it😊
They all are phenomenal musicians- saw them in Denver last year, up close, unbelievable what they did with "Alive Again"... rotating instruments in about 45 minutes of non stop mastery. Yes, I'm a fan.
I just scored 2nd row tickets to Neal's Saint Louis show in January. The surprising thing to me is that it's being held in a venue that seats, MAYBE 500 folks.
I LOVE the part from 5:10, and especially the theme from 6:26. Can't wait for this album!! You guys say it sounds the same, but I think it seems more fresh with Bill and Eric. Love their style of playing.
After I posted the comment I realized too. It's some kind of arpeggio written over the main line/chord progression. In case you know, could you tell me what they are doing there?
I just messed around on my guitar a bit for you and this appears to be a Hungarian minor scale, also known as the Egyptian scale. It's like the harmonic minor but with a raised 4th. So in this case they're playing in E♭m, but replacing the A♭ with an A. Essentially they're juggling an E♭m chord and a G♭m/A chord, which sounds great. If you play guitar and want an easy way to replicate this effect, try playing an F♯m chord (244222) followed by an Am/C chord (x32210). This will sound a little higher than the interlude in this song but it's the same effect tonally.
her'es my 2 cents.. 1st off how does he create from scratch a full album every single year since 1994..( i call him a music machine ) flowing flows out of him like water.. i grew up on zep and some prog..but spocks and neal..just changed my whole outlet on what is actually possible...
More Dream Theater than the new Dream Theater. Neal's voice sounds great!
Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Dream Theater, Tangerine Dream....Neal Morse Band is my new #1 favorite band on the planet. Can't wait to hear this album!
Don't miss Genesis!
I AM ASTONISHED! LOOKING FORWARD TO HEAR THE REST OF THE ALBUM!
I see what you did there lol. "Astonished"
I think I'm more than Astonished.
This is beyond Astonishing.
Hahaha yeah !
Hallelujah! To God be the glory!!! ❤
Stunning!!! Thats why Portnoy is one of the greats!
Oh God Yes! I haven't even clicked play yet, but I know this will be amazing. Thank you Neal Morse Band!
Can confirm.
Good of you Jack to resurface yet again just to listen to the new Neal Morse. Live another day! :)
Just picturing this in Buenos Aires, for my 30th Birthday is going to be one of the most beautiful gifts in the WHOLE world. :'')
Thank you guys! Thank you for not giving up on music and continue composing, recording and playing in a world were music seems to fade away.
Vienen a Buenos Aires chabón? Me estás jodiendo!
CREO que lo decia por el album. Por ahora no vi ninguna fecha en Sudamerica.
de que pelicula es el viejo de la foto?
How old are you now?
@@krioni86sa turning 37 in 3 days!
"My life is a Shadow and at Home I'm a stranger"... Always gets me
Yes with the guitar strumming coming at this time... awesome
Whooww! Fantastic! Congratulations The Neal Morse Band.
This is the best new music I've heard this week.
Alcest as well =)
7 minutes made me want to hear the next song, and the next song, and the next song......These guys, they´ve done it again!!!
I can't frikin wait!!!
When Portnoy sits behind a drum kit. It's pure magic.
the best neal morse..... out of time , thanks Brothers
I liked it!! the progressive rock isn't dead yet! amazing!
I really enjoy Mike in many bands, DT, Metal allegiance,Neal Morse. Mike is truly Golden God!!
What did I just hear....they've done it again.
I hope to see you in Brazil!
First time really listening to this side of Neal Morse (I like transatlantic and i've heard some songs of Spock's Beard), this is so freaking epic!
I can't imagine what I've missed. What would be your recommendations for me to listen?
If you really dig this then I recommend Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura. I think it is his best album: it's a concept album about Martin Luther and is mostly devoid of some of the cheesy preachiness that can come across from some of his other albums. If you like that then check out Testimony and One.
mathrocker Woah, Thanks! I've read about Sola Scriptura but never listened to it closely and (of course) Testimony is one of those albums everyone recommends me. Would you say Spock's Beard's "Snow" follows that same line?
Testimony follows Snow pretty closely in song structure.
"I can't imagine what I've missed"... well 8 awesome progalbums ;-)
Tough it all goes further where Neal stopped with SB, it's still quite awesome stuff. My favs are One, ? and Sola Scriptura, though there's nothing really bad (you could say: he did this and that trick already, but hey, he does it awefully good anyway). Fans of Neal Morse fascinated us!!! And thank God we do not have the musical prejudice Dream Theater in our ears! Excellent song!!! EXCELLENT!!! I love!!!
Happy Day!!
One of the best songs of the year!
If the new album is in the style of the single will surely be one of the best..
I think a prog rock treatment of PIlgrim's Progress is long, long overdue. If Neal Morse wasn't doing it then I'd have to do it myself. It is the perfect theme for Neal's songs, and of course MIke's drumming makes everything better.

and Eric and Randy complete the mix. they are ace
Most def
Benjamin McLean Dude!!!! I totally agree, Mike and Neal together have profoundly enhanced My life....
This album is best of decade.
@@MrBenMcLean It was the best of the century so far!
Saw the whole album in concert last night...I was left SPEECHLESS
Neal Morse and another masterpiece!
These dudes straight up obliterated The Astonishing with one song. Can't wait for the whole package.
This song is just amazing! After listening to this I can now belive Portnoy when he says this album will be better than Scenes from a Memory.. Can't wait anymore for the whole album!!
Gilette on the Guitar is just the pure shave!
The Melody pierces deep....
how does one simply make masterpiece after masterpiece after masterpiece! Neal makes music faster than i can listen. Best musicians ever! God bless!
That was a terrific tease! Can't wait for two months for official release.
Wow, I'm already blown away!
nice strong introduction/single for us to get into the the album - definitely a buy - not to mention Mike Portnoy has hyped this one pretty high - I don't doubt it will be a Neal Morse Band best
Awesome song, very promising! I definitely hear the Neal and Portnoy souls mixed in here :D
What What What What What What What. This is just too good, waaaaay too good. Portnoy promised goosebumps, he delivered.
It's like the overtures of Snow, Testimony, Question, and the first 9 minutes of Sola scriptura had a baby!
02:33
That melody man...chills and goosebumps
Awesome...and that drumming Mike Portnoy has to be one of the greatest drummers around :-)
Incredible song of a great álbum!! I remember seeing this guys playing this entired album in my city was sooo amazing! I miss you guys!
First I did not really get too excited of this album, but after a few and many listens, it managed to climb up as one of my favourite albums all-time! Cool edit!
Am I the only one who noticed the irony of the album's title? The orchestrations of the track just turns it even more evident...
No "irony" at all... It is a concept album based on :
The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come; Delivered under the Similitude of a Dream is a 1678 Christian allegory written by John Bunyan. I find it ironic that so many people misuse use the word "Ironic and irony"
Wow, this amazes me. Can't wait for the whole album. [hype intensifies]
Hearing some serious references to Sola Scriptura in this. Cool!
Amazing! "I´ve got to go" 1:41 Thank you #TheNealMorseBand #NealMorse #MikePortnoy #RandyGeorge #EricGillete #BillHubauer for this give #TheSimilitudeOfADream
Chills! You know Neal Morse prog when you hear it!
I was there with my wife, tonight in Dallas, at the Curtain Club! That was a dream come true, first of all, to even get to see you live, and secondly, you were AWESOME!
-Dillon
Holy fuck, that was unbelievably phenomenal
Best prog music you will get this year.... It's a good thing you can listen to it every day without getting bored, for the rest of it....!!!
We need to recapture that magic that music can conjure. It’s just a matter of being present
Good good job! Incredible!!!
Can't wait!
OMG! Absolutely the album of the year!
I'm afraid to say that this album could be better than the astonishing ... oO sounds very f! awesome! Looking foreward to the rest! Very nice work guys!
Great music. I really hope you still enjoy creating and playing these kind of music for many years to come.
Funny how in some Neil Morse songs, in some parts, you end up imagine you're listening to a Dream Theater song... By the way, this song is EPIC!
That's just that "prog" thing : same receipe since Genesis, Marillion, Yes, DT, Neal Morse ...
My friend and I got our tickets for the Montreal concert ! It's gonna be #EPIC
wonderful! cant wait!!!!
Amazing Neal Morse! Hugs from Brazil!
I Wonder if people finding this similar to DT are just getting into Neal Morse (if so, welcome!). Because this sounds VERY Neal Morse. And awesome. Reminds me of Sola Scriptura. Very hyped!
Magic..... Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. Pity Neal's band don't tour in Australia.
This just goes to prove the MP was the soul of Dream Theater. Ive been craving this for years.
MP was certainly their vital catalyst
Une fois de plus, la magie opère, vivement que l'on puisse en écouter l'ensemble.
The one and only is back, Neal Morse Banda rule the Prog Land.
I can't wait to listen the whole álbum.
Much better than anything Dream Theater has done since about 2003 or so.
A nail in the coffin for The Astonishing :D
Nah...
Keep it in your pants...
Can't wait to see in Glasgow next year !
Got my tickets for Seattle. It's going to be epic!
Can't wait to see them in Seattle!
what a beautiful song !
LOVE!!
Excellent! See you in Seattle!
Me too buddy!
Are there going to play in Seattle?
Jan 17th at the Triple Door.

Holyshieeetttt,i just discover this through mike portnoy channel when he show his vinyl collections
This is comparable to DT classics
Great song. Voice, arrangements, all is wonder. Masterpiece.
We love it !!!!
Mooi, ik ook. Woon overigens ook aan de linge ;-)
ik aan de Graafstroom1
hier aan de merwede opnieuw kicken met Neal.
I CANT WAIT FOR THIS SHOW IN NEW YORK! Love your music Neal! Never give up!!!! I listened to you ever since i was like BORN thank you for your amazing music!
Thank you Neal & Company! I've got my tickets for the January show. I can't wait.
Bought the concert tickets today for the 2nd of april. See you guys in Tilburg next year!
chills....
It sounds good, great work, but nothing surprising or amazing. I'll be looking forward to the album.
If you know concept albums, you'll know that any track isn't as good alone as it would be in unison with the rest of the album.
These positive but still somehow disappointed reactions were inevitable after Portnoy's massive hype! :D
I think this is top notch stuff, albeit it's got a ton of "morseisms" in structure, melody, sound. Very much looking forward to the album, regardless of any hype!
I didn't buy into Mike's praises to begin with. Those were some fighting words on his part, but while it's nothing new, this still sounds very good.
Fäbian Lelo To be fair, Mike didn't promise that it would be something totally unique, but rather very high quality. :---D
I think Mike is referring to the epicness of the grand scale of this whole concept album, not just to one track.
I'm number 500 to enjoy the video! I deserve a prize: Neal Morse Band in Brazil in 2016! Rssss
¡Espectacular! ¡Vengan a Argentina!
Neal Morse paint-by-numbers, which is all right by me. Has a strong Sola Scriptura vibe.
Fantastic!
The CD waits for me in my Mailbox. I can't wait to come home.

I'm in love with this album!!!!!!
Knowing that half of the band are musical gods... I listened more to the guitar and bass. Excellent talents!!
They all are phenomenal musicians- saw them in Denver last year, up close, unbelievable what they did with "Alive Again"... rotating instruments in about 45 minutes of non stop mastery. Yes, I'm a fan.
A typical Neal Morse song and just as good as always! I can´t wait to see you in Hamburg and in Malmö next year! Keep up with the good work!
And that theme is soooooo reminiscent of Genesis' Stagnation!
Absolutely spectacular work by Randy George...he really make the song(s) "Prog Epic"
This obscure chromatic part which starts at 3:00 reminds me a Lot of the dark melodies DT used in "in the presence of enemies"
thats not chromatic
After I posted the comment I realized too. It's some kind of arpeggio written over the main line/chord progression. In case you know, could you tell me what they are doing there?
i dont gave an instrument at hand at the moment but it sounds like a harmonic minor scale and they are playing in unison over an odd time signature
Wouldn't harmonic minor sound a bit more "arabic". Anyways, I LOOOVE those notes hehe
This will sound a little higher than the interlude in this song but it's the same effect tonally.
This is pretty damned amazing. Wow. I'm ready for the rest of it, bring it on!
Very inspired... and inspiring!
second neal morse i hear, after city of destruction. this guy has style. i love this
What a great song! Thanks for the inspiration Neal!
This beatiful!!! WOW!! :)
Muy chingona, los esperamos en México.
her'es my 2 cents.. 1st off how does he create from scratch a full album every single year since 1994..( i call him a music machine ) flowing flows out of him like water.. i grew up on zep and some prog..but spocks and neal..just changed my whole outlet on what is actually possible...
Then I hope you can appreciate Zappa averaging 3 albums a year.
