I may be the only person who likes the black dial more in the older version 😂 I love the chunkier and smaller look of the older models

Personally prefer the 116500 better, the thinner sub dials don't look good on the new one. Pulled the trigger a month ago on the 116500 and haven't looked back since.

I had no idea about the imbalance of the older reference.
I think the older reference has MUCH more subtle character in the imbalance, the thicker subdials, the chunkier markers, and the dial color finish.
The dial is a winner for sure 👌🏻

Hey Charlie !! I have to give the nod to the older Ref. For me the selling point are the thicker black rings that make the Dial stand out much better.

Charlie great review of both Pandas. Since it’s virtually impossible to buy at AD. The grey market is the choice. I believe the new white dial Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch at $8100 at Omega Boutique, without having to spend ridiculous money at Rolex AD to hopefully get one after years of waiting is a great alternative.🤔

I couldn’t disagree with you more. The new reference is so much cleaner looking it’s not even funny. The metal ring around the bezel, the thinner subdials and the longer thinner hour markers. I can’t even look at the dial on the previous version anymore

New subscriber here….loved this review! I’m a female and wore a white 116520 for 10 years and sold back in 2018. Regretted it ever since. I’d like to find a NOS 116520 again this year and wouldn’t mind adding one of the newer ceramics too. The Daytona really is my favorite model!

Having the new Ref I absolutely love the new ref compared to the old one. It just feels and looks more complete. It also wears better on the wrist.

The reason it looks smaller than 40mm is because it is. 116500 Daytona is 38.4 mm. measured it myself.
Idk,maybe I need to see them in person but I don't see a lot of difference between them. I'm going to get one,23 or 24 it doesn't matter but that piece is a Chefs Kiss!

Let me get this right, you're acquiring new Pandas from Authorised Dealers for £13,200 and you're selling them for £28,950 ?
It actually is 38mm.
I love the “look” of this watch, but I miss the date wheel/Cyclops. I catch my self looking often when I need to date something, so I enjoy my Yachtmaster more often. I wear this for shorter amounts of time, like an engagement, date, or for Church.

I have both, the new one is WAY better. Much more presence and more updated looking while steel retaining the iconic look. OF COURSE the 11 series ceramic will always be special and has its cool little quirks and stuff but that unsymmetrical case and 38mm size just doesn’t do it for me. I enjoy that the new one is a true 40mm and wears much larger

The asymmetrical lugs of the old ref was clearly a flaw. That’s why Rolex had symmetrical lugs on the PM models. They fixed their error, upgraded the movement, protected the bezel to flush with the case, to produce a much more refined model. Good pick on the new ref., Charlie. You’ve got top notch taste, M8. 💯

“Older” 116500LN is better to me. Thicker, bolder, black outline of subdials and thicker hour markers. Better contrast. Looks better

Basically, the new one corrected the imperfections of the old one. The 126500 is more subtle, more refined, more elegant I would say. And it is typical to like "the old one better". It is the same with cars.. until your eyes adjust ;)

Me grandpapi gifted me a watch that is just collecting dust it look so similar to this watch with the 3 circles on the dial but mine ls gold with some colorful stones that resemble a rainbow. Took it to the pawn shop and they were scared to even hold it. And didnt even make me offer which waa weird to me because i know its not a fake with it having box , a few papers and receit . Any suggestions on where to sell it?
Tried one on the other day, old model - just didn’t get it. Didn’t make me smile, bought a full yellow gold sub for the same money.

I am considering panda old model or full yellow gold bluesy, am drawn more too the bluesy, very similar money like you say but feel I might enjoy the full gold more
As an owner of a stainless steel bezel white dial Daytona I see how this new reference is going back to the Daytona roots - like many here I do like thicker black rings on the subdials of the old reference but overall the new reference is better balanced, wears bigger and is more like the elegant Daytonas of the past. That’s why they toned down the white dial as well.

I used to covet a Panda - then I saw one in the flesh. Went off it straight away. The Bezel is too thick - makes the dial too small. The Omega Speedy is by far better looking.

This is not really a panda dial, only my white gold 116509 Arabic white dial that comes with three black sub-dials is a real deal😊

I absolutely love the channel and content, but make no mistake you DO NOT need a 100-150 per year spend history. My brother has a spend history around 25-30 over the past 3 years, and he was offered his Panda in June. People like to scare folks that this is an impossible watch to get. Don't fall for it. Very difficult, yes. Impossible, no.
White faced Daytona is a beauty. There are very few watches I want but this is one of them.

New Daytona dial also it's matte which is bonkers to do like the Tudor chronograph - 🤦♂️ too many issues on the design of the 126500 makes it a problem

Wearing the Daytona is so underwhelming on the wrist. Much better models that have greater a impact.
I prefer the older marker but prefer the newer size.
The refined shoulders and wearability is a game-changer for a lot of clients 👌🏻

@@onelove5619 Tried it on a couple of times, to me, it feels bland and the dial is too empty (in white). I also don't like the look of the Zenith era Daytonas. But hey, each to their taste.

116500 looks nicer with the larger subdial rings and the 38.7mm size is what makes it special , its rare to find small chronograph watches and every watch is 40mm plus these days. I have some large watches at 44.5mm so can get my big watch fix with those, for me I prefer the Daytona to stay smaller maintaining its elegance and keeping it different to other Chronographs.

So you’re saying…. last year, even if I bought 5 Rolexes : 2 gold, 1 two-tone, and 2 SS in Daytonas & Submariners, and AD still probably won’t offer me a SS Panda? 😑
You never know, each AD is different so may always be worth asking!
I've owned my 116500 white panda a few years and when I tried on the new white panda model, my son and I had a hard time distinguishing the differences in the new model. However, upon closer viewing, the main thing that stood out on the negative side is the new Daytona is taking on the chunkier aspects of the Sub and GMT lines. It seems to me that, with few exceptions, every Rolex model tends toward becoming more Sub-like over time. That's why I have liked the Daytona models so much. The sleekness of the Daytona has been one of my favorite aspects and I have owned several versions. I liked the lug differences and the less box-like form factor. Time will tell. I've gone "new" so many times now that I wouldn't be surprised if I were to get the new one eventually.

The daytona is the perfect watch as long as you don't intend to use it as a functional chrono, that's easy to read, convinient to use to compliment your active lifestyle.

Shouldn’t the same problem you have with the imbalance be an issue with your Pikachu? In a fortunate position to have the past three generations, including the newest and the imbalance does not bother me. It wears a hair bigger, but hardly noticeable.

First I've heard that the white dial finish is slightly different - that's a good spot! The boat-shaped hour markers of the older reference always seemed to jar with the angular hand set to me. I do much prefer the new reference in every respect. I think once people have got used to the newer model there won't be much looking back.

Absolutely unbelievable timepiece, not many on the market but there’s also not much appetite. Dealers are avoiding stocking this watch currently. If you like it you should definitely buy it! Should be a good long term hold 🙌🏻👌🏻
My issue with my Daytona was the size. You are exactly right, it wore much smaller than a 40mm. It was too small. Hopefully the new one will wear larger. We’ll see.

I finally got my 126500 Panda on Friday and it 1:48 ’s so much better and so much more refined than the 116500 of my friend. Happy that I had the patience to wait and not to take the 116500 from
