The fact that grays like him are passing on so many models is evidence that the resale market is tanking, which is good for actual Rolex wearers.

You're spot on..... Look at all the videos comi g out saying there is a Definate drop in the market. If you get at retail then you won't lose as much.... I think it's next year or year after the new Rolex factory will come online and they'll be making in excess of 2 million watches a year and then there will Definately be a drop. Anyone buying over retail has lost any possible return there and the.

I really enjoyed watching and especially your comments/suggestions on "if you were to be offered by your AD, what would you do". Spot on.
Would you consider doing this type of updates on the quarterly basis? Or maybe you can build your index to track down the pricing performance???
BTW, there is only one tiny thing I felt a bit strange, which is the pixel quality of this video. UA-cam says it's 4K, but it's a little bit blurring. The previous < 20K video pixel quality is perfect fine.

Thanks for the update - I do love the Ghost 👌🏼 I have that fully stickered BLRO still since 2019 - pointless wearing it now, might as well keep it until it’s discontinued. For me the batgirl is easier on the eye when worn regularly, the red gets annoying.

The OysterFlex is yes, however the full precious metal models are struggling quite a bit at the moment
I was kinda hopeful you would touch on the Platinum Daytona range as well. There seems to be a retraction on grey pricing but still over retail.
The market has seen a slight dip across the majority of models, however, the Platinum Daytona still holds extremely strong as a result of its limited supply and huge demand! 🙌🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer many thanks! Unfortunately my AD (a Rolex boutique) only gets 1 platinum Daytona per year so I only have access to the SS (1 piece only) so I could only get the platinum on the secondary. Looks like I will have to “pony up”.

Got a call for the RG oysterflex with a black dial. Was too pretty to say no too 😞. The lighter dial didn’t feel as sporty to me and no idea when that would be available. Don’t judge me Charlie lol

It’s a stunning model if you plan to wear and enjoy for the long term.
However the full precious metal models do struggle quite a bit at the present time.
Sunday night is always watch videos night, and between you, Watchtrader, GMG, Trotters etc yours are always the best, week in week out 😁

The full gold precious metal models are struggling a bit at the moment - Oysterflex models are the best to go for if you can 👌

I prefer the gold Daytona on an Oyster Flex strap because they are not as garish. The only issue is price! I subscribed last night and I think your videos finally offer some honesty in the watch community.

5:53 I was comparing the retail with the diamond set black dial which comes to 56950 CAD retail. This equates to 32089.93 GBP

These prices are the total prices, VAT is included tin the price over here in the UK 👍

I don’t understand who exactly is selling a new Rolex on the gray market at 10% or 15% less than the Rolex retail price. This would imply someone has purchased a watch from an AD at full price and is then selling it immediately for 10% to 15% less. Who would do that and why would they do it? I don’t understand this. Serious question.

How is the grey market going to get stock if these watches are cheaper than retail on the grey.
No one is going to buy a watch from an AD and sell at a loss. It clear to see what Rolex are doing they are ensuring reduction in the supply to the grey market are they not?

Charlie, I am trying to understand Rolex's sales strategy. As confirmed at Watches & Wonders, Rolex wants to go upscale and increase gross margins by selling precious metal models. When I go into an AD asking for a GMT, the AD tries to offer me a white gold GMT or in another visit, offered me a gold Day/Date. Both times I said no. Given that gray market dealers like yourself are paying below list for most precious metal watches, isn't Rolex taking a huge risk is making watches that most of their customer base that has money will walk away from Rolex? Rolex usually knows what it is doing, but this strategy doesn't make sense for a customer to buy precious metal to get standing with the AD. What I am I missing?

Interesting times. With double annual price increases for gold watches prices are climbing steeply at retail and the gulf to secondary is increasing, but a lot of high rollers collecting these watches won’t be too concerned with the savings involved and they’ll be looking to keep their spend up at the AD to get to even higher levels.

I waited 10 months to get the call from AD for my Starbucks. 4/23/24 a lovely day in Tampa Bay. The gray market is loaded with greedy dealers. That Starbucks cost me $10,800 and they want over $14,500 and up. One day I would like to get the gold oyster flex Daytona Pikachu

The Pikachu and Ghost Daytonas just speak to me in a way the others don't. Same with the Day Date in Gold and white gold. The monochrome look is just better on the precious metal models. Beautiful!

Great video as always. One thing I have learned is there is NO alternative to Oysterflex. You can try Omega rubber on the seamaster, and it simply doesn’t compare. Wish it did but it’s just not as luxurious.

So much for being a watch channel. All you do is make videos for flippers. Literally nothing but talking about the value. Why would you tell people to pass on buying watches from the AD? Maybe people don’t want go grey. Maybe people want to build a relationship at the AD to buy the heavy hitters later on. Maybe people want the guarantee of knowing their watch is 100% authentic, or having the satisfaction of purchasing a watch brand new directly from Rolex authorised dealer. If everyone listened to you and never went to the AD, there wouldn’t be any watches left for you to sell. It’s a ridiculous thing to say. Makes you sound desperate for business.
You do have a point. Buying from an AD is the only way to be 100% sure that the watch is 100% authentic.
