Very helpful. Just starting to get my 1976 Honda CD175 back on the road having not riden it in more than 30 years . Greetings from Derbyshire , England .
I always do the wheel bearings as well. Recently changed them on a CB500T and the ones I removed were scary old with gummy grease. New bearings give you a good feeling at 80mph.
Great video! I'm a big big fan and avid customer... another great video would be for newbie mechanics, like me, who are trying to do all their own maintenance. Suggestions... 1. what to look for in a used vintage Honda (e.g. years to purchase, problematic areas, etc.) 2. what tools to buy for a newbie mechanic (e.g. JIS, lift, must have vs. nice to have, etc.) 3. daily/weekly maintenance 4. winterization/de-winterization 5. take a customer's CB and go over it on video, with their permission of course 6. problematic areas for CB350, CB360, CB450, etc. 7. many more...
All valid points Brandon ! I've been a professional mechanic for over 40 years, half of that owning a bike shop ! Hate to admit to how many of the 5+ items that I really haven't given thought to ! But truly valid point nonetheless ! And ONE OF THE CB350's belongs to my wife by the way !
Just ordered the front disc brake lines for my 360T (that red looks pretty by so does my blue). That will complete your top five. All from you guys. Ain't that cool? Folks, the quality of their parts are spot on. You need it, and you want quality you can trust, these are the guys.
Found a ‘75 XL250K2 with 699 miles on it. Changed brake shoes, tire tubes and rim strips, rebuilt single carb, cleaned up the ground to get the electrical system functioning again. Had not considered front brake cable or intake rubber. Will get on order! Thanks for the great videos....considering another 1975 Honda. Everything Honda sold in 1975 was awesome. Would love a CL360 Scrambler or CB400F.
Thanks for making and sharing all your videos. I have a CB200 project I’m rebuilding from frame up in Australia and your videos are really helpful! Thanks!
agree totally, a new chain on old sprockets not a good idea, the chain will get as shot as the sprockets in no time. sprockets are cheap chains are not
I'd say when on a budget check the wear because some of these old bikes have hardly been ridden and the sprockets are in great shape! But if they're worn of course replace them.
Plus Carburetor O-Ring Kit. Noticed the carbs on the CB360 were leaking out fuel when over on the side stand. Found that the rubber ring sealing the bowls had gone solid and flat so didnt seal any more.
Manufacturers recommend 4 years for brake lines even though they do last longer. 40 years is stretching things way too far. Regulator/rectifier real good upgrade as it will 'load balance' at idle and some 360's will actually show a slight charge.. I've chased a $23,000 'Paul Smart' Ducati at 90+mph on 35 yr old tyres, stupid but not dead yet. The Conti's I fitted later though inspired a lot more confidence
How about some resistor plug caps so they don't interfere with your microphone! Just kidding, great video guys. Definitely on point that all of these are important for bikes that are going to be ridden more than up the block!
Solid list. I tried running a drive chain too long and it broke and fucked up some other stuff. I tried running with new tubes but with the old rim strips and the tube got punctured.
Hey bro i just pickup a lil yard find its a Cb360. Its my first bike and my fist bike build. It looks allot like the one in this video. All i got frame, forks, engine tank and front wheel. If u got any left overs donations would help big time. Thanx
Mr.Brenden! I have a 1985 Honda CB250N Superdream from my father which is only 12,000 miles. Unfortunately, I do not know what to do - the motorcycle works well when it is idle, and the engine turns very tightly. Unfortunately, when driving, it will not go above 5000RPM and 80km / h. I cleaned the carburetors, replaced the needle valves and seals, the air filter and candles - could it be this regulator? Thanks for any suggestions!
I am probably way too late, but I had a similar issue. In the end it was a cord/strip of a lock I kept next to the air intake under the seat. Somehow when driving over appr 80km/hour the cord/strip was sucked into the air take. But when stopped the cord/strip was automatically pushed outside the air intake so I did not see it 😂 and one day it kept stuck in the intake that is how I found out
I'll admit I tried to to be cheap and only buy a couple parts on this list and not the intake manifold boots, ended up buying everything or getting them remade. Save the hassle and just buy the list guys.
Do you recommend changing tubes with every tire change? I do, but seems I trashed a lot of good tubes, just wanted your recommendation. Thanks for the video. Learned lots of good stuff for my 72 cb450.
Huh well we don't see tires being changed often enough to waste a lot of tubes. I'd say yes in almost every case change the tubes and rim strips if its been over a year. But truly thats up to you!
Let's not forget spark plug caps--and trim back the wires a quarter inch to cut off the corroded wires. A lot of guys spend hours and $ trying to figure out why the bike is hard starting/bad running, and this is the problem
We're working on it! A good chuck of our parts fit the early to late single overhead cam CB750's. Check the compatibility chart for the part you need and it will tell you if it works with your specific bike.
I can't seem to find new front brake pads anywhere for my 1975 Honda CB 200t. Do you sell them? Same goes for the intake manifolds for this model; Do you sell those as well at Common Motor?
If I happen to stumble across "New/Old Stock" for my front mechanical disc brake, should I consider that part to be as old as the bike itself and not purchase and/or use them?
Hey John, if you only need pads that is great. I can get you the name of the model thats still made by vesrah. If anything else is wrong with the caliper though the parts are crazy rare and incredibly expensive. I usually recommend people swapping to the CL200 and CB175/CL175 drum brake setup for the front wheel. The drum brake shoes and cables are readily available and you end up spending less money than on caliper parts for the CB200t. For the intake manifolds unfortunately you are looking for the two hardest to find parts. If you have manifolds already and just need the o-rings I have them. Otherwise, you might want to check ebay of course but also with the guys at ricepaddy.com for CB/CL200 intake manifolds. I'd also check on the Facebook owners groups for CB200 owners on Facebook, someone else might be stashing a set that they're willing to sell to a fellow owner in need.
2 things. Get yourself a new sealed bottle of brake fluid and completely flush the front brake by bleeding it using that entire bottle. Next, always change both front and rear sprockets when installing a new chain.
For the life of me cannot find a choke on my Cb. Please I need answers, is it possible mine was deleted?? Vacuum lines adjusted n added mini air filters 9n certain areas front of bike has mini air cone box

They already have a lot of videos on many kids you can learn for yourself. I have a CB360 and do all my own work even rebuilt the top end.
Hey, thanks for these suggestions - we'll put them on the list!
Had a 1972 CB 350F back in ‘84. Great old bike. Slowly bringing an 83 Shadow back to life now. Great vids.
All valid points Brandon !

+10000 for the carb boots. been chasing down tuning my idle and mixture on one carb, new boots and runs like new

In my first year with my Honda Cb 250 K4 / G5 mixer I changed them all and it was necessary and the result very good.
G5 Motor
K4 Frame
It makes a HUGE difference for sure.
Great advice...If you look for trouble, you'll find it, if not, it'll find you...
...ominous....but true you are....
*i'll
Thanks for making and sharing all your videos. I have a CB200 project I’m rebuilding from frame up in Australia and your videos are really helpful! Thanks!
Great advice. The only thing I would add would be sprockets along with that new chain.

Yes, happens all the time! These just happen more.
Learned tip#6 the hard way😊
I just discovered your channel 👍 Thank you for your videos and advice. Hope to see you again. Brgds
Looks like you need to change that back tire on the T now! :)

Oh yes, I've road crazy old tires and they roll but you definitely want to be safer with new ones.
My 360 is overheating. Regulator rectifier?

Haha it was the wind! Super windy day!
some parts are not mileage wear, they're time based. add control cables to this list
totally agree.
it says all parts and links are listed below - i can't find them.
Solid list. I tried running a drive chain too long and it broke and fucked up some other stuff.
I tried running with new tubes but with the old rim strips and the tube got punctured.
YES. You just end up wasting more money if you don't do these. Been there.
Thank you guys for all you do!
Glad to help!
Thanks for the information...

There's also has CB125t (e-start).
Same for 650?
Where can I get a new wiring harness for a 1970 cb450? I would like to not have to make a new one myself.
Try DimeCityCycle.com they had one for $120

Can you guys do a video on how to remove the carburetors on a Cl450?
Check out our cb/cl450 playlist on our channel. We have a full carburetor rebuild video in there!
Let's not forget spark plug caps--and trim back the wires a quarter inch to cut off the corroded wires. A lot of guys spend hours and $ trying to figure out why the bike is hard starting/bad running, and this is the problem
Just picked up a manky 360 to restore.
No CB750 parts? :(

Unless you’re bikes and beards. They ride the thing home!!
Do you have recommendation where to buy front brake drum/shoe for a 1970 CB175?
Reach out to our support on our website, we can get them for you!
Thank you God send 😊

Hello I cant tell what size inner tube I will need it's for a 1975 cb360t ?
CB360 uses 18" tires! Check your tire to see whether its under or over 3.5" to help you know which 18" tube to order.
For the life of me cannot find a choke on my Cb. Please I need answers, is it possible mine was deleted?? Vacuum lines adjusted n added mini air filters 9n certain areas front of bike has mini air cone box
It all depends on carb design. There should be some sort of choke or flood valve on the carbs for starting.
Would the front drum shoes fit a 76 cj360?
CJ360 uses the same brake shoes on the front as the CB360 and CL360. Check our site, we have them!
No one makes intake boots for a 1971 SL350K1 :(
Maybe one of these days we'll have them made again! Look for new old stock for now!
Any idea where to find a new pair of carb intake boots for a cb200
Shoot our support line an email and ask them. If we have a way to get them we will get them for you. They will find out for you.
Do you have any videos for changing out the drive chain on a 350 scrambler or something similar?
Not currently but our product page gives a good description of how to for you.
Great advice!!
Glad to help!
