Just as a sidenote, make sure you seal the top and bottom of your double wall poly carbonate panels. They make aluminum tape for the top and venting tape for the bottom. This keeps dust and bugs out of the panels, but allows moisture to weep out of the bottom keeping your panels clear.
Suggestion: gas actuated piston vents exist. No electricity. When it gets hot, the gas inside the piston expands and pushes the piston which can open a flap for ventilation.
I mean this with complete respect to your wife. You are a gem! Thank you for showing me how to do it all you two. I dream of a greenhouse...yours is just the right size. My hubby is 68 and I won't ask him for one. But you both showed me how to get it done.. Thank you so very much for this blessing! The gentleman who helped you is a God thing i tell you. Precious precious precious. Love your cross Ms Tonya. Doesn't the Lord just do it all right when He picks a mate for us. I am just so tickled for you. so wonderful tosee love like this!! Y'all are a very sweet couple.
God bless you. You have made my day and I will pass this on to Tanja. She is the glue that holds it all together, at our home, just as I am sure you are at your home. Tony
Solar vents are what I use with an exhaust fan, that’s a large greenhouse so a large thermostatic controlled 1:00:31 exhaust fan with air inlets down low, solar vents in roof will need frame to attach solar vent too. The thematically controlled solar vents are wax filled shock that opens as it warms up, there adjustable, until you get vents in you have a solar kiln, so what I’m saying is hold off growing inside, also shade cloth will help with plants getting to hot. Here in alaska until trees leaves come in the spring the green house can get very hot. Great team work and with greenhouse build
Thank you for the information. We have been looking for different fan options. It was around 35 degrees outside last week, but the inside was over 90 degrees during the peak of the day. This is with the vent cap left open!

Well done video. I'm not sure where you are located, but I think your greenhouse is going to need much better ventilation during the warmer months for both heat and humidity control. Possibly electric exhaust fans at both ends and suspended fans for moving air within the building. You might consider looking at geothermal technology, which can efficiently regulate air temperature in all seasons. I'm a great fan of geothermal. We use it in Alberta Canada, where the winters reach -40 Celsius and the summers are hot.
Great build start to finish I would recommend chickens as feeding them green produces more natural soil as compost for your beds and no smells . Second as your soil is in the beds a layer of mulch and wood chips as a secondary feed for the plants plus it retains much needed moisture and you can fill the bottoms with larger logs to break down over time. It is a method I have used and works very well for me
Amazing build and video!! If you’re looking for a cheap and efficient way of heating in the winter months place large black jugs (anything from painted black Arizona jugs to 55 gallon stew drums) filled with water all over the greenhouse and it will pull in the heat from the sun and disperse it throughout the rest of the day/night! Thanks for all the videos and tips!
You sure can’t beat those Stanley FatMax tape measures! I’ve bought dozens over the years including wildly overpriced ones that stops working good, cradles, or completely stops working in a 10th of the life of a Stanley FatMax. That’s a really nice greenhouse that I’d love to build for myself, however after living where we do in SE Texas for almost 35 years, we’re ready to seek out a larger track of land to build our retirement home and other structures verses putting more money into this place. Thanks and take care.
Thank you. We are working on our 5 year plan. We are building debt free, which makes it harder. Our UA-cam channel is helping, but dang, the price of lumber, windows, doors, etc is ridiculous. Still, I think it is worth it.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Your off to getting a good start which is more than I’ve been able to do, whereas last summer just as we’re were about ready to get some more land where we can stretch out more due to this area we’ve lived in SE Texas about 50 miles north of Houston has exploded with everything around us worth anything was sold at more than 2 or 3 times the normal property values. Such a beatutiful greenhouse. I had one of the aluminum frame with slide in pannels and the wind blew it apart the first year. Over 5 thousand dollars for nothing. I'm so happy for you. You will need an AC and a heater. They make vents that opperate (using wax) automatically opening and closing the vent when it gets too hot in the greenhouse. Danny at Deep South Homestead built an awsome setup but it may be more than you want as far as time invested but worth the effort watching what he has.
This video is about one year old. Since then, we have installed solar and wind power system. We have installed some of the concrete floor. We have installed a ventilation system. We still have a lot to learn, but I think it will go live this Feb. Seeding!
Nice work! Love the oversized Timbers, especially the fact that they were home grown. A suggestion: you might want to look into some ventilation mechanisms. Come summer it will be too hot in there to grow anything, and it will help with the condensation and high humidity. Can’t wait to see the next phases…
Just the video I needed right now. I have the ground leveled and the holes dug. Still working on getting all the lumber milled (our big mill got taken out by the derecho that came through a few months ago) so I’m left with a jerry rigged mill using an old chainsaw fitted between 2 steel rails. I’ll be watching this vid over and over again in the coming months.
Thank you. We will be putting out more detailed videos on the greenhouse build soon. I hate to hear about your sawmill and property damage. I pray everyone was Ok.
Gizmo loves the greenhouse. He always goes to the door to be let in every time we pull up. It makes me laugh. He knows he was part of the greenhouse. It is his.
Great video. One advanced idea you might want to look into is a ground to air heat transfer system which might be what you referenced at the very end of the video. Your soil looks perfect for it. Although might be hard now that the end of the greenhouse is installed as you would definitely want to use the tractor for it. My current greenhouse setup uses 2 wax powered cylinder automatic vents, a manual hatch vent, and the door. You'll have them all full open in the summer and may need a fan on a thermostat as well. Ventilation is critical to prevent mold and fungus and obviously temperature control. I also have a raspberry pi controlling an auto watering system using 3 multiple zoned moisture probes, 2 55 gallon trashcans as reservoirs, and 3 pumps run off a relay circuit. Great if you ever want to travel and not kill your precious tomatoes! I look forward to watching what you come up with next, especially the water system and the solar install. Thanks for making videos!

Greenhouse is looking good. Got it finished in time for Tanja start putting seeds into pots. Geo-thermal heating would be cool, you've got the equipment to dig the pit for the thermal storage.
This is so beautiful! The only idea i have for imrovement is a cupola ventilation system with a weathervane on top. This is a dream greenhouse for sure.
My wife and I loved this video! We watch a dozen or so “homesteading” channels a week. Yours is VERY well edited and presented WITHOUT a bunch of opinion promoting your personal agendas. We stumbled across your video on the firewood storage shed and thought it was one of the nicest we’ve seen. When this popped up as an offering, we watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your attention to details, including when expressing what you are about to do and why, make for great viewing. Truly appreciate your willingness to let the Light in you both shine in a friendly, loving way. After viewing your of the Man cage in this video and your Mini Clip video, I am sending a suggestion to Al & Gina at LUMNAH ACRES to consider adding both to his other implements for his 474, which he loves. They are also an awesome Christian, homesteading couple in New Hampshire. We are now a subscriber!
I also enjoyed the video guys. It was a group effort for sure. Nothing I would know how to utilize or need, but educational for sure. I sorta like the idea of open ended storage, just wider/longer, lol. 😮. Gizmo did a fine job!
Good evening, Sir. I apologize for missing your comment. From the earliest days of our marriage, my wife has wanted a greenhouse. I think it is something she will grow to love, but if not; this greenhouse may become the open ended storage you speak about. LOL!
What an impressive project!! Something to file away for my future dream farm, for sure. My husband recently build me something similar, on a smaller scale (about 7m x 2.8m). We have two automatic roof vents, a front door that we usually leave open, and a large window at the opposite end. The only issue we've had so far is over-heating. We're looking for solutions for additional venting/windows, as it has been too hot inside the greenhouse this first summer to leave any seedlings in it during the day. We thought about slinging a shade cloth inside it, but it has been a very overcast summer, and we already have issues with seedlings getting leggy as they seek more sunlight...so that doesn't seem to be a feasible solution. We're hoping to install at least two sets of louvres or vents on either side of the greenhouse, and also a third roof vent. We'd also like to capture the rainwater that currently runs off the roof onto the ground, and store it for watering the gardens. I didn't see any vents or windows on your finished build - I wonder if you're planning on adding some at a later stage?
Even with venting, you may need shade cloth for really hot days in mid-Summer. I have a 16 x 40 timber framed greenhouse and my sides roll up and it still gets too hot some days in July and I live in Vermont!
I know you get a lot of after the build “suggestions”, so I’ll chime in my 10 cents too🤣. I would have done something to preserve those posts under the ground. My personal preference would be to oil soak the end grain & then char the bottoms to a few inches above ground level. I only say this because I’ve buried posts on fences & pole barns and had them rot or get termites within a few years, even when pressure treated. I met an old farmer that used to use this method & his posts are still in great condition 50 years later. A little gravel in the bottom of the hole also keeps water from settling around the bottom because your end grain absorbs moisture like a sponge. Old timers have some great advice if you pick their brain.
Fast2K is the absolute best thing you can do to preserve the post. It waterproofs the post and is an unbelievable anchor. I am not a big fan of putting oil soaked post in to the ground. This will contaminate our well and the surrounding water wells. Fast2k has been used for over 30 years to hold utility post in the ground. We have neve had a failure to this point. It is a little expensive, but it hold great and doesn't hurt the environment.
I love your greenhouse! At the doors, you might want a ramp, maybe concrete. You will be bringing soil, and other large things in and out often with a wheelbarrow or just even walking. A venting window system might be needed also. I am building wheeled potting tables which are nice. Wish I could add a drawing. I researched potting tables and I came up with a 8’ x 2 or 3’ deep x 32” high with a screen and wheels. This will be good for your seedlings.
At the point of this filming the greenhouse is not complete. We still have to level the inside with concrete on one side and gravel drain on the other.
Talk about overbuilt! Nice Job! This is by far the best Greenhouse I've ever seen built like this. As for the condensation, I would think you would need some kind of airflow system inside to control the condensation problem. Again, Nice job and will continue to watch the progress. God bless.
Tony, y'all have done an amazing job on building this greehouse. This is a different design from the "hoophouse" that I plan to build, but now seeing your labor of love greenhouse has got me thinking of copying your design if you wouldn't mind. my only change that I ould incorporate cwould be to run sheets of plywood along the bottom 4' of the exterior walls where I could place my starts on tiered benches to utilize that space more effiently. Other than that I love your thought process.Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy, Frank Scherping❤😊
The result looks definitely great, thank you for sharing! :-) I got a very good great idea from this video - using butyl tape for making greenhouse tight. Thumbs up and enjoy your greenhouse! From my experience in my cool humid climate, there are few of things you probably should watch. - First would be the ventilation in the summer - there is never enough of that (many common vegetables go into stress and/or their flowers loose fertility over +30 C). Ventilation holes/sections probably on two ends and possibly a summer door with mesh would do well. - IMHO you did not seal the ends of polycarbonate panels - there will be condensation inside those panels and in few years also green algae (don't ask how I know ;-) ) I used suitable silicone to seal upper open ends (although aluminium tape or something that would be fine, too) and installed "breathing" tape to the bottom open ends of panels and that has been completely fine in ~5 years. Btw - insulation R-value corresponds to case of closed ends of polycarbonate panel. - If you should have a windy area, you may encounter issues of strong winds blowing wall panels either in or off. From video it looked like you have 1/4" (6mm) polycarbonate panels - they would love some support between posts. I'd add X-bars between posts. - If you should be interested in extending growing season or do better with heating, you can fasten a sheet plastic (for cold/cool periods) to roof support structures - that will be a dramatic difference from R-value point of view
This is beautiful. I’m not sure how yet but I’d like to cover .5 acre of my property to grow continually through winters in Minnesota. All on a family budget.
@@TonysTractorAdventure I’ll have to source lumber. I also have seen U of M Extension has a deep winter greenhouse that’s scalable towards the needs of the home/farm. It’s quite incredible of a design with tons of research being done and picking up in popularity for us northfolk.
I really enjoyed your video. I learned a little, but I would like you to show more when you're doing. The pitch of the roof and how you're measuring the trust's would be good. Looking forward to more thank you.
I did a separate video on building the trusses. I think we have four or five videos now dealing with the greenhouse. It's coming along slow because we are paying as we go.
This seems thorough. Im going to do a few things different. Waterproofing for the last board was a problem i saw about the build. A simple ripcut miter would help shed water off. I think it's amazing you guys mill your own beams. I would love to try to do stuff like that but i have no lumber or equipment. What a blessing! Id love to mill seemingly infinite amounts of lumber! I want to build but there are so many moving parts for the scale i have, so I need to be as efficient as possible. Thanks for making this video. :)
Not sure how I got here. Sorry I can't offer any advice but can give you guys a major thumbs up on this project. Looks awesome !! You'll eat healthy yum yums !!
This video was spot on! First, every time I watch a video you guys make now I feel like I know movie stars. Second of humor was just great in this video - - I really enjoyed it. It was good to see Tanja talk and I applaud her bravery being on top of the roof. I’m glad she was the first one to walk through the doors of her new greenhouse. It is always wonderful to see the Gizmo dog and kudos to your friend who helped you. I know I don’t comment a lot but rest assured that I watch all your videos.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the comment. We worked over 4 months on this project. It makes me happy that Tanja likes it. I can't wait to see what she does inside.
You did it the best way I would’ve done I would’ve never thought of it being this easy but you made it very easy the whole process even the equipment you have is accessible🎉
Love your greenhouse. An idea I think would be ussful would be to add some 2"X6" plant shelves inbetween a few of the posts for any kind of hanging vine plant and/or for the handheld gardening tools to be stored.
Solar heat temperature controlled/activated hydronic piston vents. That way it's automatically opened/closed depending on interior temperature. Water catchment tank. You will want at least 1,000 gallon but a 1,500 would be better. A 1" rain on a 1,000 Sq ft roof equals 600 gallons of water after the 6" first flush is removed. Good luck! I will be watching to see what you do & how bcuz I just subscribed. I stumbled onto your channel this morning.
Awesome build, I’m about to build a timber frame 12x20 greenhouse pretty much the same way your build is. One thing I won’t do is put wood chips around the greenhouse because of what’s called “artillery fungus” from wood chips they shoot round stains on your panels that is very hard to get off, I did that around our sunroom and had to remove the wood chips after the second year. Thanks for sharing I appreciate it.
Awesome Job, your can put vents at the bottom on each wall, and a solar power fan at the top on each end to pull air in and push the hot air out at the wall vents.
Watch for condensation on inside of panels. The water will run down to the bottom edge inside of greenhouse and land on any lumber there. I think you only have lumber on the outside of the panels, which will be better.
The Vanwives in Canada put a green house together might give you son me ideas with inside water storage that helped store warmth over night . just a thought . Good job with yours

Organic is my only suggestion 🌱👍

Really nice job, don't forget the temperature controlled vents in the gable ends. Love it!
Got Fans on the way.
This is so beautiful! The only idea i have for imrovement is a cupola ventilation system with a weathervane on top. This is a dream greenhouse for sure.
We ended up putting a solar system in beside the greenhouse. He provides all the electricity that is required to run a nice temperature control fan.
I Gotta say that is one of the nicest greenhouses I’ve ever seen built 😊😊😊
Thank you. We are building our dream.
Great looking greenhouse!!!
Thank you.
Barely 30 mins in and I just love it. Hard work, right tools, provides great inspiration and ideas to bounce off of. Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the support.
You should have done some real research on greenhouses before you started, heat, water, ventilation, electric, drainage? 😢
Awesome job congratulations to Tanya & Tony
Thanks so much
My wife and I loved this video!
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind supporting words. We always intend for our channel to be Christian Family Friendly. God Bless.
😊😊😊
Epic building. I can't believe that greenhouse can be so solid.
It has gone through 80mph winds.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Incredible! I like this house.
One of the Best I've seen , Great Job !!
Thank you. Tanja has big plans.
Even with venting, you may need shade cloth for really hot days in mid-Summer. I have a 16 x 40 timber framed greenhouse and my sides roll up and it still gets too hot some days in July and I live in Vermont!
OMG you did an absolutely magnificent job building this greenhouse!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for breaking it into chapters and providing an index.
Awesome job! Hope to build something like this in Tennessee when I get there😊
I know you get a lot of after the build “suggestions”, so I’ll chime in my 10 cents too🤣.
Great job. That’s the best looking greenhouse I’ve seen!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a bunch!
your simple unique work inspired me, thank your sire
So nice of you. Thank you
Absolutely outstanding. I'm going to use a lot of your ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you!
I have a true case of greenhouse envy. Your work on this project is nothing less than a masterpiece. Excellent work!
We are working on the solar power plant next. We are self teaching. It should be a shocking experience.
And, thank you. LOL! We had a blast building it. We are working on figuring it out the inside.
Good job on the greenhouse friend love it 👍
My wife is getting it cranked up right now. Thank you
Very interesting to watch. The rafter square is for people alot smarter than myself. Great video, thanks
I did a video on building the rafter. I really easy to get the angles.
One of the best I've seen, watching from Uk.
Thank you so much.
Nice job guys and gals.😀
Thank you.
Awesome and inspiring!
Thank you
It’s “AWESOME “, Great Job for just 3 people, Great job.😊
I love your greenhouse! At the doors, you might want a ramp, maybe concrete. You will be bringing soil, and other large things in and out often with a wheelbarrow or just even walking. A venting window system might be needed also. I am building wheeled potting tables which are nice. Wish I could add a drawing. I researched potting tables and I came up with a 8’ x 2 or 3’ deep x 32” high with a screen and wheels. This will be good for your seedlings.
At the point of this filming the greenhouse is not complete. We still have to level the inside with concrete on one side and gravel drain on the other.
Damn, this is by far the best built greenhouse I've seen on UA-cam. Very practical design, thank you for taking the time to make this video. 👍🏼
That is one awesome comment! Thank you for that. We put over 4 months of work into it, so to here this means a lot.
Talk about overbuilt! Nice Job! This is by far the best Greenhouse I've ever seen built like this. As for the condensation, I would think you would need some kind of airflow system inside to control the condensation problem. Again, Nice job and will continue to watch the progress. God bless.
We are going to put down a vapor barrier and put in fans soon. So much to to. Thank you.
Beautiful practical job …. Well done I might even copy your design … thanks for sharing your work
You are welcome, and thank you.
Very impressive. The building looks great and the video was awesome
Thank you, brother. I look forward to seeing you at the show.
Well done big guy,it is really awesome. Looking forward to your next big project. God bless you two.
Thanks a bunch!
Love the door and the polycarbon walls.
Other than that I love your thought process.Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy,
Frank Scherping❤😊
Thank you so much for the kind words and good luck with your bill.
Thank you so much.
THAT IS ONE BAD ASS GREEN HOUSE ‼️‼️ QUALITY CONSTRUCTION‼️‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸
Thank you very much
GOOD WAY TO START A PROJECT.
LOVED LOVED this adventure! I’ve not enjoyed watching anything it. Loved watching Tonya on the heavy equipment. Looking forward to the next phases
I understood you. LOL! I look forward to the next phases as well. We started the solar, but the weather has been terrible.
This is beautiful. I’m not sure how yet but I’d like to cover .5 acre of my property to grow continually through winters in Minnesota. All on a family budget.
It takes time. On a budget, it took us 4 months to build the srhell. We hope to be done next and using it next spring.
Well done. Thank you for taking the time to create such a useful video.
I love to build, and my wife is good with the camera. I think we have found our formula. :)
Nicely build, and I can put the world on top of the GH. Enjoy.
Thank you. We are pouring concrete floors in the greenhouse right now.
Found your channel that is awesome awesome awesome work guys
This seems thorough. Im going to do a few things different. Waterproofing for the last board was a problem i saw about the build. A simple ripcut miter would help shed water off.
I think it's amazing you guys mill your own beams. I would love to try to do stuff like that but i have no lumber or equipment. What a blessing!
Id love to mill seemingly infinite amounts of lumber!
I want to build but there are so many moving parts for the scale i have, so I need to be as efficient as possible.
Thanks for making this video. :)
Glade to help. This took us about 4 months building this from the first log cut to the last piece of trim. We still have inside work.
Not sure how I got here. Sorry I can't offer any advice but can give you guys a major thumbs up on this project. Looks awesome !! You'll eat healthy yum yums !!
Thank you so much. We have put cooling fans in and we have started pouring concrete in sections.
What a beautiful project!! Well built and solid, good luck with your 5 years plans!!
Fingers crossed!
Very nice green house!
Thank you! I know we will enjoy it.
You did it the best way I would’ve done I would’ve never thought of it being this easy but you made it very easy the whole process even the equipment you have is accessible🎉
Glad it helped!
Love your greenhouse. An idea I think would be ussful would be to add some 2"X6" plant shelves inbetween a few of the posts for any kind of hanging vine plant and/or for the handheld gardening tools to be stored.
We thought about adding something in between, but we are afraid it will block out the light for the center. We still have much to learn.
Great job! You absolutely need temperature controlled input and exhaust fans . I would love a greenhouse like this.
I agree. Working on something now.
I was thinking the same thing. Given that though, I love this greenhouse. I wish I had the capacity build one just as stout as this one! ❤
Thank you so much. Good info and ideas.
Awesome greenhouse, beautiful work!!!!
Thank you. I see all of the mistakes, but we were able to recover from each one.
Beautiful. Exactly what i want.
It was a labor of love. I look forward to finishing the inside off.
Thank you for your insight.
@@TonysTractorAdventure k, food for thought?
EXCELLENT video and job. A great inspiration. I may even attempt this myself. Thank you
Go for it! I love to build.
you did a fantastic job guys, it's beautiful
Thank you so much! We got it built last year and it will go into service this February. My wife is ecstatic
@@TonysTractorAdventure I'm building mine this year, not as big as that yours...i'm looking at a 10x16 or 12x16 hope to start in a month or two.
Awesome Job, your can put vents at the bottom on each wall, and a solar power fan at the top on each end to pull air in and push the hot air out at the wall vents.
We are thinking about the same things.
Watch for condensation on inside of panels. The water will run down to the bottom edge inside of greenhouse and land on any lumber there. I think you only have lumber on the outside of the panels, which will be better.
OMG, What an AWESOME job guy's! Loved watching this whole series! Thank you for sharing the build! GOD BLESS Y'ALL!
That means the world to us. It was a labor of love. I can't wait to see what Tanja does inside.
God Bless
AMAZING. Love it. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your work. 🙏
Thank you for taking the time to watch
The Vanwives in Canada put a green house together might give you son
me ideas with inside water storage that helped store warmth over night . just a thought . Good job with yours
Thank you. We have recently talked about an inside tank.
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
Tony! You can tell the folks at TYM that you’re the reason I just bought a T25 TLB. Got the third function and grapple too! Love your humble nature and your ability to harmoniously work with your wife. Be well.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support, I really appreciate it! I'm glad to hear that my videos helped you make the decision to purchase a T25. My wife and I are thrilled to be able to share our experiences with others, and we're glad you can see the harmony in our relationship. We'll continue to make more videos and share our experiences. Thanks again for watching, be well!
Loved this project. I also liked the longer format. This is a beautiful greenhouse!
Thank you saying that about the long format. We were not sure how people would like it.
Your video popped up on my suggestion list today, and it was so interesting! What a great greenhouse! I wish I had the skills and tools you had! You are so comfortable with doing quality construction! One day maybe I will have learned enough from videos like yours to build myself a small chicken coop that won’t fall apart!!!
So nice of you to say. Thank you so much.
Looks great bro.
Appreciate it
