In my 57 years of life it is difficult to define which melody is my favorite. But this must undoubtedly be in the top three. It's just great. I thank God that I was born in this time. I don't think there is better popular music than that of the last century.
The Temptations always strived towards perfection with their songs. Mr. Norman Withfield was a great pioneer in writing lyrics that spoke of life just like the Legendary Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. This song speaks to reality.
The piano wakes you up.The horns call you to the table. The tambourines get’s one ready. The Conga takes em to church. The guitar calls one to arms. The bass pumps the blood. The voices lifts one above victory. The flute sizzles the soul. The drums shakes the bottom. The high hat cymbals get’s in step. The handclaps gives one rhythm!!I love this jam. Always have!!
the temptations had no idea they were pushing or shaping the sound of Soul , Funk , R&B they were trying to get a top 10 or 100 so Respect Massive to this group always n 4ever ✴🔊🎧
very nice and complete ...already in this one you could hear 'Masterpiece' and "Papa was a Rollin' Stone" ...Bravo to the Tempts ...when music meant something ..
I have rediscovered the Tempts from this era. Yes, Norman was the perfect genius to take them to the next level. I SO wish he had produced an album for Mary, Cindy and Jean (Supremes)
Well, he specializes in talkin' trash Carries himself like the world's biggest spender But he ain't never got no cash The clothes he wears are second to none He's a Jack of all trades and a master of none Agrees with everything he knows nothin' about So he doesn't feel left out Secondary all the things in life he really wants Being in is his thing So he's got to keep up his front Plastic man Tryin' to get over any way he can Plastic man Tryin' to get over any way he can Let me tell you about him He's a, he's a, he's a self-preservationist, yes he is Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah And a super-conversationalist, yes he is Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah Well, he always borrows, never lends He says, "You know me, man! 70s Grammy winning Tempt line-up: Damon Harris, Richard Street, Melvin Franklin, and the fabulous Dennis Edwards.
And Otis
Not the fab five but a damm good line up.
we all know about the PlazticMan but thanks Temps
Well, he specializes in talkin' trash
Carries himself like the world's biggest spender
But he ain't never got no cash
The clothes he wears are second to none
He's a Jack of all trades and a master of none
Agrees with everything he knows nothin' about
So he doesn't feel left out
Secondary all the things in life he really wants
Being in is his thing
So he's got to keep up his front
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Let me tell you about him
He's a, he's a, he's a self-preservationist, yes he is
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah
And a super-conversationalist, yes he is
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah
Well, he always borrows, never lends
He says, "You know me, man! I'm with him, let me in!"
Says he's willing to stick through thick and thin
But when the chips are down
People find him if you can
(Plastic man)
Claim to fame, he has none
Friends in this world, maybe one
He hates being just another face in the crowd
Giving another brother five and talkin' loud
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
I guess you know he does a little, uh, dippin' and dabbin'
In a game they call backstabbin' (plastic man)
You better stop your fantasizin'
And start, buh-buh-boom-boom, to realizin' that
Black is black and white is white
Wrong is wrong, hey, and right is right
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
Plastic man
Tryin' to get over any way he can
