  • Hello, my friends!
I bought this Stearman Kaydet 1/72 scale kit mainly for the color and for decals. They fit very well with the dark yellow color of the fuselage. The Stearman Revell kit has a radial Lycoming R-680 9 cylinder engine that I try to make some changes in order to look a little better. I can say that it was the fun part of this build.
After primer, for the fuselage, I use MRP paint Ukrainian Yellow and two layers of Mr. Hobby flat varnish. The downside is that I expected to see a decal for the rear wing, but the decals are missing, so you have to use the blue color in order to paint it. The kit is fitting almost perfectly. You need to correct small seams on the bottom side, but overall this Revell Stearman Kaydet is a great, relaxing kit to build.

I built this kit years ago, probably early 70s when I was a lad. You've done a top job on it, absolutely beautifully finished. 👍

I'm just lucky with this type of lacquer paints, they are so forgiving :))

@@SmallScaleFun absolutely my friend I'm looking forward to seeing your video on that one I am the same way! I build a lot of highly detailed subjects so every so often I will pull something out like that that is easy and fun to build and not re-energizes me it's like taking a break you know when you take a good break and you do something fun and easy it sparked new ambition and ideas for upcoming projects so keep up the good work will be watching peace and God bless ✌️🙏🍺

Built this one. It took me about 12 brush coatings of thinned yellow to achieve good cover. Got one of the US roundel stars pointing the wrong way. Sweet model though.

      Hey!
      Fun model to build :)
My mistake was that I use gray primer, so I had to use 4 layers of MRP yellow in order to cover well the fuselage. If I had used white primer, I think that the color would be more precise.
      Thank you!

Good build/paint video. I like the extra detailing done on the engine. Too bad you didn't use the pilot figures. Planes look better populated.

Yes, they look better with pilots, but they were so small, they intimidated me because I didn't paint their faces :))

      Hello!
LOL, is just a break...Supra is very demanding:))
I paint the body with Mr Hobby Cool White and I want to apply the decals this week.
At what are you working now? (I just bought a new Supra (street version), an RX7, and a Honda NSX)

    • @orlandofarcas5610

yey! it's nice to hear good news about the Supra, good luck with the decals! can't wait to see it finished! On my side there aren't many updates, I'm still working on the Castrol Celica (I finished this weekend the chassis, the interior is also done and now I'm planning to paint it and apply the decals) but the time isn't on my side. I got married in September and my schedule was pretty tight :) but I'm catching up. I also bought some new kits "for the winter" : street Supra, Honda S2k, Mazda RX7, Nissan Silvia S13 from Tamiya and Lancia Delta Integrale from Italeri. But only time can tell when they would be finished. At this point I'm pleased on how things are going with the Celica and soon as it's done I'll make a picture video of it. **sorry if my comment is too long

Well, I wish you a long and happy marriage. This year will be 12 years from my wedding ..LOL.
Do you have a favorite color for your street Supra?

    • @orlandofarcas5610

I haven't decided yet, but I'm thinking about red with black accents (mirrors, rear wing, maybe the roof also) or lime green with black accents. Silver it's too basic. We'll see :). I have a Fujimi Mitsu Lancer Evo 9 that I'm planning to paint it in lime green and depending on how this goes, I'll make a decission. So many projects, so less time...
