Hey Dan, Nice work. We enjoyed watching. Mark and Phillip
Ohhh.... I'm humbled....
Fascinating! Thank you! Great run down!
Thank you too!
Great video, thank you
Glad you liked it!
very informative!!
Glad you think so!
You got the images of the chateaux near Giverny and the other near Cognac backwards...
Are you sure?
Given the historical nature of these buildings, does the French government limit the kind of renovations that can be done to them?
The French are fairly adaptable as long as it is 'in keeping" so to speak. This however is a different kettle of fish if it is a listed building.... but that is the theme of my next video!
wonderful video Dan! As we are used to from you. Is one obliged to renovate an MH castle or can one simply leave it as it is and live in it as long as the condition of the building allows it of course? Greetings Frank
They can not force you to do any work, UNLESS the property is on the limit of its land and is a danger to passers-by. Rarely a situation for a Castle, but possibly an outbuilding.
I will call you Sir Robert Smith 😊
Noooooo.... Insult to Robert! I haven't got the hair!!
You have to have very deep pockets: the upkeep alone commands mortgage sized outlays.
Well its not for everyone, that is sure!
@@FrenchEstateAgent I aging the heating bill!

The last chateau is "Chateau de Monte-Christo", not "Chateau de Monte-Carlo". It was built for author Alexandre Dumas of Three Musketeers' fame. Alexandre Dumas was the grandson of the Marquis Alexandre Antoine Davy de La Pailleterie, who owned a sugar plantation in the Monte-Christi province of what is now the Dominican Republic en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Monte-Cristo
I found it weird when researching it, but there are several erroneous posts on Google, and I guess if I carried on down the "carlo" side, one would lead to the other. Thanks for the info
