There’s so much that makes this hobby amazing - and so much unique artwork to enjoy. It means a ton to think that my vids maybe help inspire a spark in your collecting journey!
These are some absolutely fantastic choices. Plus, we got some bonus footage seeing some other great decks at the beginning. I’ll need to consider this for my own collection.
It's so much fun to me making a list like this. Agonizing to look over at a couple of the decks I left on the shelf, but it really does give a new way of thinking about the collection!
Great choices indeed! Must have been the most difficult video you ever made, based on the immense collection you have, and picking only 12 as your favorites. But like you said, these are your favorites right now and your choices could change later. I'm fairly a newbie to card collecting. I started in late 2020 (besides my already established Star Wars deck collection), so picking 12 is easier to me because of my small collection. If I owned some of the decks you featured in your top 12, they would be in my list too! Here's my list so far (in no particular order), based on design, illustration, printing enhancements, and overall ingenuity... 1. Eye of the Ocean by Stockholm 17 2. True Solidarity by Intertype Studio 3. The Cross by Peter Voth 4. Artist by Andrei Captan 5. The 17th Kingdom by Stockholm 17 6. Legal Tender (holo edition) by Kings Wild 7. Vivid Kingdoms by Ten Hundred 8. Icons by Oath 9. Fantasma by Thirdway Ind. 10. The Successor by Gentleman Wake 11. Standards by Kevin Cantrell 12. The Devil's In The Details by Widakk Design
Great list! There's some pretty iconic picks in there to be sure. I'm personally a bit sad I wasn't able to get a Kevin Cantrell deck into my list - he's such a talented artist!
I was just thinking about this one while making the vid! That's going to be a tough one, but I'll start putting some thought into it. As a fan of courts as the most important part of any deck...I love this idea!
No way. When you said Tough Luck, I immediately thought of Doc and thought that was a stretch. A straight Legends release instead! Surprise surprise haha. A cross-section indeed. Would not have expected your Oath pick to be Silk. Daaammmmm I think you know which one I, and I suspect most others, have in mind. Still Silk comes in at a very close second for me, so I can't blame you. Culturae Animalis is one of the most overlooked decks that I think any serious modern collector should own. Overall solid picks, good stuff as usual.
I’m sure I can guess what most would pick as a Lotrek deck - and I considered it. But for me, Silk really adds something unique. It’s the technically more interesting option with the foil usage. Glad you enjoyed the lucks! Curious to know what decks would make your list?
pffff I have no idea. That's why I'm in the audience and you have the YT channel lol Probably Crypt, OG Federal 52, GOLD Monolith, Pagan, Fantasy by Dustin Panzino, Cultarae Animalis, Rose Gold Gatorbacks (assuming I can find one with proper registration), Lee McKenzie's Royales Private Reserve, House of the Rising Spade, Sumi Kitsune with the Letterpressed Tuck, my favorite t11 deck in Contraband, and finally doubling up on Lotrek with my GoG. @@TheCardGuyReviews
As someone who is newer to this I'm curious to know if it's common to remove the tape on the tuck boxes. On one hand the the box looks better without it but on the other removing it tends to damage the box.
Seriously beautiful collection! Thanks for sharing. I’m new to collecting playing cards, is there any definitive resources like forums to head to to learn more or find what new releases by the community?
Incredibly difficult! I think I could have chosen an ENTIRELY different set of decks not using one from this vid at all - and still have made something I'd be proud of!
@@jonathanleach383 My "first deck out" was probably Sisterhood of Blood v1 from Kirk Slater - GREAT deck if you've never seen it! If I had to include a second deck from some of my favorite designers, you'd probably see Gemini or Eye of the Ocean from Stockholm17, Eva or Apocalisse from Thirdway, Under the Moon or Fillide from Jocu, and Sensu from Jack Brutus Penny.
@@TheCardGuyReviewsthanks tim! Out of curiosity, what is the best card box you've come across, looking at the TWI V2 or V3 one but wondering if you'd recommend any others?
I think I just bought the last Culturae Animalis (Gold) lmao became sold out after I bought all of his available decks, definitely a new designer to add to my watch list!
There are days I think about getting out of this hobby. Then I see these videos on why collecting is great and I go back on the hunt for awesome decks

Glad the Room17 made it into the chosen12 brick box! Highland fauna is also one of my fav, except for the paper stock they picked.
I could have gone so many ways with an S17 deck in there of course. Choosing WHICH was one of the harder parts! 😁
Interesting collection! I’m a cardistry person, so all my decks are minimalistic. The complex design of these cards are just amazing.

Would love to see some more people’s lists!
Awesome choices - plus I love the brick box 😛
What better box could I have picked??? 😁 😁
Incredible selection and quite the difficult task!

Great decks! Would love to see you do a favorite court cards series... "top 10 queens" etc

I wish more card makers released some of their designs as standalone art.

Damask Blue or Arabesque Silver?

I would've added your 2021 52+ Joker Card Deck here, but for art specific cards these are great!

Loved your first selection being the ivory Pagans… where did you get that beautiful deck?

Two I can recommend. Go check out piptuck.com and unitedcardists.com - two fantastic forums!

What is that red brick box? Beautiful.
Love this idea
That must have been a tough decision for sure.
Thank you for the a great video with a nice deck collection 👍

Where can buy the highland fauna cards online?
Those have been sold out for a while and are pretty tough to find now! I would keep an eye on eBay and maybe you’ll get lucky.
$500 for monolith sag 😱
No you can get it for $100 the prices on TWI's websites are just fake marketing crap
I got a ragnarok mini made in china with standard faces borderless. $3. Not bad!
If you were to add a kings wild deck, which one would you chose?
Easy choice. Tigers limited version with the matchbox. It was actually one of the toughest exclusions from the list!
Tim you're the best. If you had to include a second deck from another designer, which one would you choose??
And to add to that what was the toughest deck you chose to leave off?

Also completely missed that he is the designer of Nazo Nazo which I backed for the full set, looking forward to those :P
You won't be disappointed! Jack is an amazing artist - one of the best anywhere.
Did you buy more than one Culturae Animalis deck? Would you be willing to sell one?
