I followed this amazing athlete from the beginning. She was simply judged by her personal life and not her amazing talent. Not everyone gets the proper guidance growing up and this cost her her future. She NEVER gave up until it was all taken from her. It was all so unfair. But today she's got it together. GO Tonya!

To this day watching her complete that triple is as exciting as watching former Olympian gymnasts get their perfect 10’s, or winning a race…..whatever the sport this young lady DID IT! For that alone she should be in the hall of fame, geez.
Idk about anyone else but I watch that over & over and each time she amazes me. I’m glad she still personally skated. God given talent. I hope she’s doing well today!! 😊

What Tonya accomplished is absolutely incredible. I really had no idea she was as good as she was. You kind of have to go searching for that information. What the media focused on was the Kerrigan saga, the falls, which everybody thinks were in the olympics but were not, and the fact that Tonya was an outsider in her sport. I love when people like Tonya succeed and outshine the competition who have every advantage, but still cannot outperform them.

So you’re saying she should’ve had the gold in 92 and 94 if it wasn’t for the judges? She performed better than Nancy, Oxana and the others? I mean she was great don’t get me wrong but it’s almost like you’re saying she was the best just bc she came up poor🤷🏻‍♂️ From what I remember Nancy was on top. One woman says it perfectly. When Ice skating for a medal 🏅 they were winning for God but times have changed…. Being competitive to win has a whole new meaning to it.
If Tonya felt that she wasn’t being given a fair shot at these competitions and not being scored accurately. Why didn’t she take that other route?? That would have been a good story by itself fighting for the right to be heard and having the judges investigated and what not…. This would have been the correct way of action to be on fair grounds.
I get that Tonya came from a broken background, very sad situation, feeling put down constantly, never felt good enough, being verbally abused by her mom and Jeff, no longer feeling they have a sense of control of her life etc… I can relate with Tonya on all levels on having a narcissistic husband but regardless of her circumstances, There is absolutely no excuse for something like this to happen knowing it could possibly permanently tarnish her ice skating career.
When it comes down to feeling competitively threatened by their component.. Of course, there’s always that part but how far does someone have to go?? Having the mindset of (Dont let anything get it in their way of winning) even if that means taking drastic measures by using force of injury to permanently damage them claiming they had little to no knowledge that this was being transpired.
If Tonya had any slight of knowledge of this happening and just say she didn’t agree with it & feared Jeff at the same time?
Why didn’t she report this from happening?? Knowing her ice skating career would be a stake. She had every opportunity to report this, that would have saved herself and it would of gotten her controlling husband Jeff out of the picture as well. I know things were different back then as I remember but it doesn’t change the scenario.
That’s why I believe till this day, Tonya had 💯 knowledge of this!
Tonya was a very talented ice skater at one point and she could have went far in her career.
it’s so unfortunate that she didn’t make better choices at that time and went a different route about the situation.
Just to win a competition shouldn’t come at a high price.

I agree with pretty much the rest of your post, though - except, it's hard for me to look at her coach & her choreographer in these videos (well, I've only seen Part 1 so far) - and think that they did not believe in her, and that they did not at least attempt to give Tonya positive support. But I have an idea of what that coach was up against: often, well-meaning coaches are no match for the deficits in a pupil's home-life/personal-life.

    • @chesterhardy3153

Tonya assaulted a woman at a traffic light because she took too long to make a right turn. She slapped the woman, bending her glasses and cutting them into her nose. When the woman fought back, Tonya went to her truck and got a baseball bat. (She says it was a plastic bat) Police came and saw Tonya in the street with the bat and arrested her. She served 3 days in jail. This was right before her 1992 tournament in Oakland.

As I said under another Harding video, the skating world did not hold her lack of wealth against her - it was more her unwillingness to modify certain behaviors, & to adopt a more "lady-like" image. There have been a lot of skaters who came from blue-collar/working-class backgrounds who have done very well, & were accepted. Nancy Kerrigan (ironically) - is a good example: she was not upper-class by any means - but she didn't date thugs, and had better "manners" (supposedly).

I will not make excuses for someone who has done anything wrong! We don’t know what really happened, but we do know she knew some how what happened or what her husband was plotting. A woman who is close to her husband talks about everything. From the looks of it she was very close to him. That being said, allot of celebrities have done worse things and have come back from it. So we should just move on and let her live her life.

Tonya Harding is evidently quite dishonest, yet her coach appeared genuine and very kind...if not a bit naive. I don't doubt the statement because it came from the coach, not Tonya.

The biggest ruse in the history of sports. A camera conveniently placed but never showing the actual attack, the absurd notion that a guy hit someone with no plan to escape then was able to run through a glass wall in desperation also conveniently not filmed, and lastly the over the top acting! Total publicity stunt, top to bottom!!!

4:00 Tonya looks SOO much better with those giant bangs slicked back! Nancy did herself a favor by not having bangs. & no, I’m not responding to a “But, Nancy was a spoiled brat” attitudes. Two very different women! Nancy had grace & elegance in a sport of “FIGURE” skating. (Not “power skating”)! All drama aside, Since the film, “I, Tonya” was released in 2018, many millennials, gen Z’ers (who were not even alive or under age 3, in early-mid 90’s) have tainted versions of the Kerrigan assault & events, due to not being THERE & THEN! Watching a Hollywood movie aimed at restoring the reputation of a young woman (young then, 24 in 1994), when the woman (Tonya) has had so many chances to redeem herself.
I wish the legal system would grant Tonya immunity from further prosecution to 1. Simply, give a heartfelt 1:1 full apology for ALL involvement & 100% honesty, to Nancy. I bet that moment would also be the biggest moment watched since the ‘94 winter Olympics & I bet that Nancy would be open to the apology, even after so many years! 💖⛸🇺🇸 *JUST A THOUGHT*

yeah that's all true but there is a hand written plot against Kerrigan with most of Tonya's hand writing. That's hard evidence so no one not even Tonya herself can deny that. However still to this day she's still maintains her innocence. She's going to carry that lie to her grave. Plus she was so rude at times talking about "oh I'm gonna whip her but", I mean seriously? very unladylike....and that's just looks very suspicious to me.
