- Thanks to CenTdemeern1, I did some research and turns out his speed limit is actually 20.03 pixels/velocity without dashpads, which means if you go into mach 4, you get .50 + pixels/velocity per dashpad. Mach 1-3 will not affect the additional .50 pixels/velocity to mach 4, it will only stay at 20.03 (if you get to mach 4) until you hit another dashpad.

Without speed boosters, Peppino’s speed limit is 20 pixels per frame.
as someone who uses gms that is actually insane. the average running speed for a platformer should be 4 to 6 pixels per frame.

The camera moving past Peppino is actually a fucking genius idea because think about it, the camera moving forwards gives you more time to react to obstacles when moving at these high speeds. I mean is literally useless in the normal game since no level is capable of fulfilling the speed requirement but its smart none the less.
The camera shifting forward happens much more often than you might think, even mach 3 will trigger the effect
the crumbling of pizza tower is actually the only non-modded level where you can actually see this effect well (mostly because of the room with a bunch of speed boosters, most specifically the room that you go through before going to floor 1 and leaving the tower)

I would love that Peppino had expressions programmed for an unreachable speed in the game or for a speed you would hardly reach.
That face is when you reach that one dash that can kill enemies when touch and after like 5 seconds holding that run you can get this speed but it stops if you turn ,gets hit etc
Mach 4 is actually easy to get to in some cases, since Peppino reaches that insane speed with about 4-5 seconds of flat running while holding forward

Both classic & modern Sonic can outrun the cameraman in the white space/level select area in Sonic Generations

No. it’s just that the game makes the camera in front of peppino, So that you could react to obstacles in front faster, however, there is no way to maintain this speed in this video, making the camera going in front of peppino useless.

@@Snick_ Honestly, memes aside, I can see the valid criticism. Not saying Sonic's bad for this (he's not an inherently bad franchise, shut up), but yeah, the classic games had pretty lackluster cameras then.
If anything, I can't help but doubly agree with the CD part; I love how the camera always went *ahead* of Sonic so you could see further ahead. I think it was underutilized, though, as unless you're in a lengthy stretch to just run or were always using the Time Signs, you're more often platforming than purely speeding, and that's doubly so if you're going for the Badnik Generators. My question is, though: why was it never utilized ever again? I get why 2 didn't, but then what's the excuse for 3&K, Chaotix, even Mania?
