- In this video I will show you how to make and use the minigun, the "Old painless" of ARK Genesis 2. This thing slings lead downrange like it is going out of style! It holds 300 rounds in its ammo drum and fires a spicy advanced rifle round! It also has a neat alternate fire mode where it turns into a deployable turret!

If you throw out an apprentice or higher minigun to use it in its mounted position it has the same bug as the Charge Lantern when picked up it reverts back to a primitive 100% damage one.
Thankfully, this is fixed!

Deployment is with the pistol whip, melee button. Like shown if you stop to shoot with it before it overheats, i cools down and still alows you to fire, as the completely overheated one does not until it is completely cooled of.

@@torinor6703 The only reason its the LMG and Minigun is because they are meant to be smaller counterparts of much larger guns. I.e the M134 minigun chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO is a much smaller gun than the Vulcan, chambered in 20x104mm Vulcan. Same goes for LMGs because those are smaller than HMGs, because those are usually upwards of 90lbs and chambered in rounds double in size, i.e 5.56x45mm vs 12.7x99mm.
Honestly just makes it scarier that these already huge guns are considered mini counterparts

This thing makes the Minigun Turret structures completely obsolete now

Why is it that EVERY video game depiction of a minigun has an overheat mechanic ? Isnt the point of having multiple barrels so it DOESNT overheat ?

If you know rampart in apex legends, the "magazine" is 160 something rounds, it's got a little bit of a spin-up and it isn't accurate at the start but hey it doesn't overheat
@@kafeh3300 I'd rather reload it 20 times than have an aweful overheat mechanic on top of having to reload
@@cherryrook8684 Yeah and even then if we're talking about ark, with the price of the ammo infinite or 500 round magazine + no overheat would be fine

DO NOT transfer this weapon across arks, it will overheat and stay that way permanently
You mention alternate fire mode but you didn't say how you do it. How do you throw the minigun on the ground?

I Found a ascendand minigun in a drop

How does the handheld version compare to the old turret mini dmg wise? Could be a good use for the new manquin attack dummbies
from what I saw it does like 20 damage if held in hand,60 damage if put on the ground and mounted.and seems auto turrets do more damage,but my observations are subjective due to settings on servers,as they vary.but in my oppinion,as a practical weapon,minigun scores low as it chews amoe with minimal damage.but for fun,it is hard to beat.the tek bow does alot more damage compared the other gen 2 weopons.
Damage wise, im pretty sure its the same, but by the fact that this thing has a higher range than any other gun in the game with perfect accuracy and high DPS if you get your hands on an ascendent one, this thing can shred gigas in one mag from a mile away
looks fun yeah, but nobody going to use it, nobody using the assault rifle so why use an upgraded version of it ? devs sometime ...

Miniguns don't need to spool up and the entire point of multiple barrels is to avoid overheating.
Quick tip for people; if you have a high rarity minigun (Ascendant, Mastercraft, etc) do NOT place it down. As one may know, structures do not have rarity. Placing down the minigun results in it losing the high rarity, reverting it back to primitive. Don't make the mistake I did and lose my Ascendant minigun.
