A Year with Fred (New Horizons) part 1 A repeat broadcast from 1991 of the BBC2 series about Bolton Steeplejack Fred Dibnah. Date: Thursday 12th September 1991
This great man Fred Dibnah should have been knighted, such a hardworking, modest, caring human being. You are always Sir Fred in my eyes regardless. Thankyou for all the great series SIR FRED. RIP BOLTON LEGEND 🙏 From Liverpool UK.
8:40 In!! India Mill chimney, Darwen Lancashire. As a 15 year old boy I worked in this cotton factory for six years before I left to work In Guernsey on the Royal bank of Canada construction In St Peter port 1988!! Wow the memories I have from there!?!?
Today he'd be wearing a Minecraft or Roblox hat, or Spiderman. Kids aren't into Thomas the Tank Engine and steam trains anymore, far too boring for them. Instead their constant attention is diverted to stupid youtube videos of some (mostly American) idiot playing these strange Roblox and Piggy games (which sadly my two kids are glued to).
Jeeeez, as much as I love fred there was something wrong with him, climbing that ladder round the overhang, definitely something up with him the the aerea if the grey matter, god rest fred and thank goodness you didn't die falling from one of these things 🙏
I wonder what happened to his ex wives. I'm guessing they don't want any media/public attention. I'm assuming his last wife is now deceased. I noticed in the Made in Britain series Fred says he has two sons, but I thought the young boy with the dark hair seen in the A Year with Fred series with his first wife was one of his sons, but apparently he can't be. He must've been from her previous relationship/marriage. I think he also had a daughter, but she's never talked about by Fred at all, or maybe she wasn't his?.
@@Embracing01 this is the mother of the two sons. First wife had 3 daughters. This one left the oldest boy Jack with Fred and took youngest Roger they split. I could be wrong but according to public records both 1st and 2nd wife were pregnant before marriage.

I'm not sure about being knighted, I would never accept any award from the royal family and I can't understand why Fred did.
@@Embracing01 Well to be fair this isn't about you is it?? And fred accepted an MBE so he would have accepted a knighthood too.
@@jimmorrison3756 I totally agree Jim.Fred was a bloody Legend.
4:15....Fred was such a celebrity even Tommy Gunn from Rocky 5 turned up to cheer him on......😂

I like How Jack is wearing a Thomas the tank engine bobble hat while he was helping Fred oil up the steam roller

I think Sue may have saved Freds life.
a man of balls not just the heights but putting up with the divorces a great man of his time
She wasn't looking for somebody younger and better looking? So she left him for somebody younger!!
0:19 i dont remember the version where the chimney landed on the camera man lol

They took am sure 20 ton of ornamental cast iron bot round top to help way war efforts.

It's a shame that every wife he had they tried to adopt change but it never worked
I think Sue was probably a bit of a gold digger considering how old Fred was ehen they got together
she wasnt looking for someone younger or handsome, ...noo she just wanted....££

Sue Lorenz
She wasn't looking for someone younger or handsome, ran off with another man and took half of Fred's money for good measure.
Reckon she was a bit of a gold-digger though .......... 😉
she didn`t want a penny out of the divorce
He's crazy, lol.
