Fabulous colours , although all that lovely ink wasted , maybe try using a piece of cardstock under your cards and all the residual ink won’t go to waste , you could use it as a background? , my oxide sprays have only been used once so thank you for the inspiration ❤️❤️ , try and shake your bottles from side to side it won’t be so messy , great video thank you 💖💖
Thanks AliLou. Please rest assured the ink is definitely not wasted. I use paper towels because they can very easily be glued to mixed media paper or card stock to make instant backgrounds. Because paper towels are 2 ply, the ink soaks through to both pieces and you therefore get two for one! Here is the link to one of my other videos showing how I used an inky paper towel to make a beautiful background and finished art journal page ua-cam.com/video/J9V2Bbmb48Y/v-deo.html. I also have another video here where I have used several inky paper towels to make a gorgeous journal cover ua-cam.com/video/mByqWuhyAUY/v-deo.html
Hi Nina. I just wanted to say that you have inspired me to start crafting again. After I lost my 19 year old son to leukemia I lost all interest in my most favorite thing. Which is crafting. Well I broke out my supplies and started with art journaling. I have some really neat things and could use some support. Thank you so much Nina.
Hello Tereasa. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your Son and I can understand why you lost interest in art during this most difficult time. How lovely that you now feel ready to start crafting again though. You might find our Facebook group comforting, as its a very supportive and encouraging place to share your art, get inspiration, and make like minded friends. We are called Nina Ribena’s Art Journal Prompts and More 💕
These are very attractive. Using just two colours often leads to striking effects, as you've found here- and the black looks stunning in the foreground. I really like these!!
Beautiful backgrounds Nina. Those sprays really are amazing. Great idea to use two colors The black die cuts are gorgeous with your backgrounds. tfs xxx
Thanks for another great video Nina. I like the idea of only two colors and I am going to have a play as soon as I am home from work. Have a wonderful week.
I love your color choices for your backgrounds and the black focal points that you chose to use on your ATC's, Nina. Very pretty together! I really enjoyed watching your process, and thank you so much for the lovely inspiration, Nina! :-)
Great project, it’s interesting to see what pretty cards only two colours can make! I like the black flowers as they look like silhouettes and of course the butterfly is gorgeous too xxx💕
Thanks so much Susie. I did end up making a few with white flowers too. I had found some braille paper on ebay and it arrived yesterday so thats what I used and the texture looks lovely 💕 xx
Beautiful!!! I didn't know how to use the distress sprays before, love your video makes me want all the colors now. I love what you've done, I'll be making cards when I get any. Thanks for sharing 😊
Was so glad you went with the black flowers, was sitting here going 'black, black' when you were choosing, because they look so perfect with the sooty edges :) Inspiring video as always Nina xx
Love these they are gorgeous , the black silhouettes turn them into something very chic. I admire your work with the oxide strays, I bought some but I really don’t get on with them at all, far too messy for me so I rarely use them. I will see if I can pluck up the courage for this prompt! xx
Thanks Rita. The sprays are a bit messy. I noticed that Tim uses a shadow box to catch the overs spray, although mine was contained on the kitchen towel. I may wear gloves next time I use them 😁💕
Nina, what a beautiful and stunning set of ATCs, I really really love 💖 them. The black flowers really stand out, and the butterfly 🦋 is stunning too...I really really love 💖 how you did this, I’m really going to try and make some. Thank you so much xxx Mags
Good morning nina, sometimes I hear myself talk to you, when you have to make a choise, that's funny. I opted for the white flowers this morning, but the cards turned out very pretty. I also love making small things like tags and atc's and as you say, they are a great way to practice for making bigger pages . Thanks again for a nice start of my sunday...coffee and nina...and now getting dressed for a sunny day in september, have a good week
Good morning Lena. I was obsessed with making those backgrounds and made a few more. I added white flowers to a few of them that I cut out of braille paper. The texture on the paper is lovely. I’ll have to remember to show them next week. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Its lovely here and I’ve been pottering in the garden all morning. Have a super week 💕😘
This would be a great technique to use with watercolors and alcohol inks. I have a few flower die cuts that I don't know what to do with. Your video helped. The flowers are white. Probably a good idea to paint them black to stand out against the colorful backgrounds you created.
I love oxides too, I don't have sprays because I would be in a right old mess and the cards would be too... Ha ha... Love the die cuts I think I would struggle to choose which to go for they both looked fab xx❤️🌼😁
Hi Susan, I will send the leftover ATC’s in happy mail. I tend to write my details on the back, but if you google ‘free ATC back template’ you will find lots of designs that you can print out. I hope that helps 💕
QUESTION: Are the Sizzix thinlits cut on the machine from dies, or do they come already cut as they show up on your youtube. I looked them up on Amazon, but still wasn't sure after reading their directions. I don't have a Sizzix machine.
Hi Phyllis, you have to use the thinlits on a die cutting machine to cut the shapes. They don’t come pre cut I’m afraid. You can buy similar pre cut shapes from Etsy and eBay - search die cut flowers and leaves. I hope that helps 💕🍁🍂

Surely like those new wildflower dies, Nina. They look great on your colorful ATCs.
Thanks Cheryl. I really hummed and aah’d whether to buy the die, but thought it might come in handy. I love how they look as a silhouette 💕
Beautiful backgrounds. Love the black silhouettes of flowers on them! Thanks. :)
Thanks tori, I love the simplicity of these 💕
Great backgrounds Nina. I love the butterfly one the best. Your calendar is going to be amazing.

Thanks Kay. So simple, yet effective 💕
I love the black Tim Holtz flowers in black. Lovely ATCs. Karen.
Thanks Karen. I’m really glad I purchased the die 💕
Another great video, I think it’s a great idea limiting the colour range, makes you explore the potential. These ATCs are lovely. X
Thanks Marie, yes it does make you explore more. Just goes to show you don’t need all the sprays either if you just want to test them out 💕
so beautiful, love how simple they are yet so stunning.
Thanks Dorothea 💕
They are all gorgeous Nina , I too loved the pink and green very pretty I thought,, but loved all your little calendar cards ,,,xxxx 🌺💕🌸
Thanks Annie. I’m always amazed with the oxides as you always end up with a pretty mix. Have a lovely week 💕🌸🌺 xxx

Thanks Betty. Simple, but effective I think 💕 x
Hi Nina, those cards are really beautiful.
Thanks Carina. Glad you like them 😄

I agree May, I think those would work beautifully too. Glad this has given you some ideas for using your die cuts 💕

Haha! Yes, they are messy 💕😘🤣🌺🌸 xxx
I’ve held off for so long buying the sprays but this may have tipped me over the edge 😬 another great video. Thanks Nina 💕💫
Oh dear, I’m being a bad influence again 😁💕😘
Not at all, you are a very positive role model! At least that’s what I tell my bank manager 🤣😂
I made some with Distress Oxide reinkers, I'm cheap!😂
TH recommends to shake side to side not up and down. If you spray on a kraft mat you can pick up the over spray and don't waste spray.
So awesome ..Thank U☘️
Gorgeous - BUT I may just have to buy some of these sprays 😀😀🤗
Haha, they are fun to use 💕
I have some of these sprays and enjoy using them. Try shaking them side to side (like ringing a bell) instead of up and down. Not so messy.
Thanks so much for the tip Kimberly. I’ll give it a try the next time I use them 💕
These are amazing! I am still trying to get my handle on making backgrounds….I think I’m too shy about it lol
Thank you so much and I hope you’ll give these a try 💕
Hi Nina, I just found out that Lidl's calendars will be available in Germany as of September 19.
Oh that’s great Carina, thanks for letting me know 😘
Wish we had Lidl where I live. We loved it when we visited Cornwall last year.
@@loripadilla669 I think that there are Lidls in a lot of countries. Perhaps also in the country where you live.
These are gorgeous.
Do you think the oxide sprays work better than the oxide ink pads?
I don’t think one is better over the other. The sprays are quicker to use, but the ink pads are more versatile. Hope that helps 💕 x
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia thankyou xxx
Love how the black stood out on the backgrounds 😊,and the limit of two colours 😁...not the messy sprays though 😉😗Xxx
Haha, I was thinking all the time I was making these that you would be freaking about the state of my hands 🤣😘 xxx
Sprays are such a pain... But they are beautiful colours though xx
Lovely video and beautiful atcs. Do you actually use them as trading cards? If yes, how do you put your information on the back?
Hi Susan, I will send the leftover ATC’s in happy mail. I tend to write my details on the back, but if you google ‘free ATC back template’ you will find lots of designs that you can print out. I hope that helps 💕

Nina Ribena Thank you Nina. :-)
Maybe try spraying your water through a stencil?
Yes, that always gives a nice effect too 💕
I dab mine with crumpled paper while it's wet.
