We used soda cans on both forks of the stick holding up our stove pipe. Extra protection to keep the fork from catching fire. Just a trick we learned. Our stove was cranked up at time when it got down to minus 20 F.

I saw both videos and it looks good and it seems your happy. Cool. Be aware that your pipe is a tight fit to the stove jack. It’s customary to have a little space between the circle and pipe, so the wind affecting the tent doesn’t pull the pipe out of the stove. Great set up I love hot tent winter camping. Great organization . You did well. Good to see people modify and make things happen. I modified a tent for hot tenting and I’m happy, it worked great. Thanks

Thanks for the comments 😁...being an HVAC guy I am familiar with venting and codes...I was monitoring it very closely and I can tell you for sure that tent was taught and no movement occurred. The smoke pipe did get alot of creosote from burning fresh cut wood...after day 4 I had to disassemble the sections and knock it out...it had started affecting the draft...after cleaning it out it was all good again.

We have same tent but bigger with a 55 gal barrel stove . Outside we did like a horse hitch down the whole side of tent to tie roof ropes to about half way up side of tent . The where stove pipe comes out side of tent like yours we put 2 -12’ conduit pipes in ground standing up in air wired to hitch brought pipe out to elbow and up the conduit wired in few spots to hold it works great nice draw and no problems

Get you some silver foam insulation and stick it between the frame and tent fabric, that will keep the tent cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold. You can also put a cloth liner on the inside of the tent, which really helps keep it cooler and or warmer!

We have same tent, we use a military barrel style stove, I was impressed with this cheap wall unit, used many times and it's a great cheap alternative to the very expensive wall tents! It's roomy, only thing I do see an issue with is the poles, eventually I want to replace with sturdier ones. Will see, only time will tell before stuff begins to fail

I had one of these tents and I loved it good room for two people but we left it setup and got like 20 inches of snow and cows rubbing up against it bent one of the poles On the corner and with the weight of the snow it didn’t stay up for the summer time and early fall weather it’s a good tent but I don’t know about heavy snow anymore but if I was there maybe would have lasted if could have beat the snow off

  • @SWAMPHUNTER644

It looks like your spark arrester may have caught fire at some time due to creosote buildup. We removed the screen on ours because of buildup and the effect it had on the draft. We just used a rain cap. If you get embers on the tent, don't use paper to start the fire. Use charcoal starter fluid instead. If you still get embers, place a thin sheet of aluminum to cover the tent. Drill holes in it so you can tie it down from the wind. We also used wire as guy wires on the stovepipe attached to trees. Even that broke once under heavy snow.

Nothing worse than piles of stuff everywhere on a hunting trip. I do have a question though. What are those things along the roof that you have your clothing hanging from? @@BrisbaneBones during the night I stoked the fire every 2 hours but the burn box isn't that large and we weren't burning very dry wood. I also think I need to remake the stove with a 4" flue and damper. The 3 inch didn't seem to draft quite as well. I built that stove with no plans and it's been tweaked a few times. Im sure it doesn't hold heat like a heavy canvas would. The R-factor is probably quite different.

Convenience mostly, keep the firewood near the entrance and it's also the coldest part near the door... so that eliminates drafts

Cool, you can buy a piece of B vent to go through the opening as well. But your idea works just the same. Thanks for the reply bud!

@@washburnbilly the only thing I was concerned with using B vent is that the inner pipe is designed for gas appliances and a whole lot thinner material and since I'm an HVAC contractor , I have an entire shop full of old 3 and 4 inch schedule 26 gauge to literally burn through.thanks for watching!
