- On June 10th 2013, I released what was, for me, an unusual album called ‘Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon’.
It had two titles because it was made in two distinct halves. Recorded in Tucson, AZ in Spring and Autumn, created with the help of the most magical of White Rabbits, Mr Howe Gelb.
The summer between recording sessions brought the passing of my Father, followed closely by the end of my 10 year relationship and marriage. Soon I would leave home soil for America.
My music video collaborator Chris Turner, got in touch to say that ‘Carried’ had inspired him to write a script, and would I be interested in making a short film? Absolutely, I said.
I loved creating the score for this along with composer Bryce Jacobs, and getting back to my old acting roots was made infinitely more thrilling when doing so opposite the brilliant James Cosmo.
It’s been a very interesting decade.

Fathers and daughters have complicated relationships. Sometimes loving and kind. Sometimes violatile. But, we do everything we can to make it work. My dad was my best friend and I miss him everyday 😟

Hitting hard today. It's the 6th anniversary of losing my dad.
LAST anecdote - I promise! Your character does something I was SUPPOSED to not long after my OWN mother's passing; original plan actually entailed traveling to Cape Breton and our old family beach plot (never saw it STILL) up there with someone dear to me but, it fell through (MORE years ago than I care to ADMIT!) - hoping to make the backdrop a very BEAUTIFUL place in the Berkshires nearby, INSTEAD - possibly a week from Friday (you & your BF should check them out, if you've not previously - don't remember now if you ever did any shows around Hampshire County; Northampton - oh, WAIT; just found out you're leading off for Shawn at the Academy Of Music before long.....)

.....the MacLeods are in my family through Nova Scotia (Cape Breton-Glace Bay) and North Uist, KT - guessing those WERE the Hebrides on view (?) Primary maternal roots, though: MacDonald, Clan Ranald - I've done a FAIR amount of genealogical work (mother's PATERNAL line, revealed some HUGE surprises 6-7 years ago; also, if you've ever watched 'SOAP' - a truly-HILARIOUS show, BTW - Diana Canova & her mother Judy are distant cousins - by marriage.....)
