Hotsails/Jeff Henderson shaped windsurfing (and continue to do so) in such a low key, under the radar way. Jeff has always been generous with his time, knowledge, and insights anytime I came to Maui to visit the shop. Loved my KS3 sails; such a brilliant design. I foil mostly these days but am stoked to see your coverage of a legendary shop, designer, and rider (Bernd). Wish I lived closer to strong wind/waves as I'd still be windsurfing a ton. Much Aloha.
Great episode! Rented my Starboard and Hotsails at Kanaha Kai in 2012. Great shop, nice people. Good 🔥sails. We named our son Kai after that Maui windsurfing trip. 😃
thanks.......that is so good to see......the heart of windsurfing ........loved the whole presentation......took me back to 96 again going to the Hot sails loft at the Cannery and meeting good people who sold me a prototype that served well on many days at Camp 1 where 1 day I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff Henderson too.
Thanks so much paul!! I'm about your age, sailed on maui in 95' , sailed western Australia in 99 and still sailing obviously and your beaitiful videos are a delight bringing back so many wonderful memories. And when I say beautiful I mean across the board, visual, drone footage and intresting engaging content!! And Brend is an amazing individual, so young for such deep insites and with such a unique, pure atitude and perception that Ifeel is the true essense of the dance of wind and water 🤙🙏💥
Paul, you're on a roll! I've been using HSM for around 13 years now and it was so interesting to hear their story and that of their BRILLIANT rider BR. Great vid and thanks again for no crappy eighties soundtrack. You are hot!!😁
Thanks Paul. Love those personal insights of Bernd and Jeff. I am happy hotsails customer since 2012. I am using the firelight line and still in love with them because there are soo light and endurable. Was not aware of the kS3 lithium! Amazing sail !
I'm loving these Maui series Paul. I'm discovering so many interesting aspects about the place and the people watching these videos. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the good job!
Another total gem, Paul. I walked into the Hot Sails shop my my long time pal Ron on our first trip to Maui in 2017...and whom should we meet but Jaeger Stone! I am delighted to have a full quiver of Hot Sails, and to have talked to Jeff Henderson on the phone from here on the South Coast of England and how I love his sails. Marvellous. Thrilled that Bernd is doing so well.
Very nice video! I bought a Topsails in 1988, and now I know who's the designer of it. Had lots of years fun with this sail. The details of rigging the wave sail als interesting. Espacially the fact about the S in the batten. Is normaly not done with other brands.
Love these videos with a more spiritual approach to life in general, sports, community and Windsurfing. I can’t enjoy any “buy this to be that” stories anymore.
Paul, you are an absolute legend. Like you, i have the same dream of visiting Hawaii but i am not sure i’ll be able to accomplish it. So this is as close as i will ever be there. Many thanks
Awesome. Thanks Paul. I sailed a high aspect ratio Hotsail back in the late eighties. Fascinating to finally see the man himself and learn about the history of the brand.
Paul! Windsurfers like myself have been waiting for info's/backgrounds like this for .... ever? Thanks so much, this is great, keep digging that way. First time we see/hear the other side of the PR-medal?
Great video!! I have a ks3 4,6 since 9 years or more… and it is awesome! My mastsleve was opening because the polyester fibers broke and the other ones was it kevlar or dacron? Around the mast still lasted! So this mast sleve is what needet a repair, but the local sail maker was making a good solution! I would love to get a lithium ks3 but haha im winging, Surfing and windsurfing… and my windsurf/wingfoil instructor salary is just not enough to support that dream of me! Maybe one day i visit them on maui and get the hookipa experience!! You Paul, I would love you to try a ks3 and report us your experience!!
I watched the whole PWA racing last season and from watching the woman's, Hot sails really stood out especially at the Japan final event as being damn fast.
29:18 I rented that SB Carve 114 sticking out at the back of the row last summer for my first ever shortboard session! Kanaha Kai set me up really well. Hope to make it back soon!
Going back to what berd was saying: truth is that happiness is only as such if shared, the sooner we learn that the better 🤙🏻💙🤙🏻 PS. But the harsh reality is this: are we really ready to share a wave with a winger?? 😬😇😘
Thanks so much for sharing your Maui experience with the windsurf community🥳🤙🏻👍🏻 Keep more episodes coming, especially of the comp and riders feedback. What vlog cam you use???
These behind the brand videos are so interesting, thanks for the great content.

these are such entertaining videos, you could start a whole series on just windsurf sail features with various brands.
Great video Paul, realy want to buy hot sail now !
two fantastic dudes
I watched the whole PWA racing last season and from watching the woman's, Hot sails really stood out especially at the Japan final event as being damn fast.
Terrific video. Thanks!
8:33 OMG! Wind Service! I keep racking my brain: where did I see that? a French (or could be Swiss?) custom boards workshop from the early/mid 1980s?
Do they eat some kind of spice over there like on Arrakis... everybody as blue or green eyes ?
Nice man 😊
29:18 I rented that SB Carve 114 sticking out at the back of the row last summer for my first ever shortboard session! Kanaha Kai set me up really well. Hope to make it back soon!
Plse do Dave Ezzy, that would be interesting

I know their wave sails are great. But what about their freeride sails ? Never seen them aroud me i think ?
I have a 6.5 and 7.5 SpeedFreak. Dacron 6 battens and one cam. Absolutely love them!
Please do more interviews with oldtimers. Barry Spanier, David Ezzy, Dave Kalama to name just a few...
!!
That dude needs a bigger water bottle
Gran video. Da muchas ganas de probar esa vela.
The material on these hot sails is next level
We have some in our association who rolled one of these sails out, I was blown away with the construction of these sails. Super light and bombproof
Cool camera angle Paul with sail makes more sense now re power and neutral
I wish we had windsurfing shops like this in Sydney
