  • This video explains in great details every hidden breakpoint in PvP and why your best PvE build won't be optimal in the PvP zone.
    In my humble opinion, gatekeeping on those topics prevents existing Diablo 4 players (new / casuals / Veterans) from experiencing and having fun in the PvP zone. This video aims at trying to build a knowledge base open to public that could be used by any player wanting to experience the PvP zone.
    Any additional information shared by players on those hidden breakpoints or any gatekept information is more than welcome and will be used to shape the future PvP starter builds that will be published on this channel.

    Thx for sharing this information, it's difficult find it. Some point for discussing:
    1) In my understanding, in season 2 the bucket system changed in this way: WHEN you do a critical strike you do x1.5 damage (1.2 for vulnerable WHEN hit a vulnerable enemy). All the value about critical strike damage from 0 to infinite is additive. The simple condition to doing a critical strike, also with 0 critical strike damage, should x1.5 base damage. (For Overpowering is the same, but in this case the "xValue" depends on life, but the cap is x1.5) . All of this is right?
    If it's right, in season 2, the cap 150-200 for this additive damage is always on?
    2) In previous season this stat have no cap: Life/Physical damage/core damage/damage to close/damage to bleeding/Dodge. Now is the same?

      1) yes, that's right. I don't think crit damage is capped to 150-200 anymore since it is additive now but didn't test that specifically 2) I suspect it is uncapped but didn't test that specifically

    If you want a thourough testing with how our damage responds to eachother we can team up and do some field testing. for instance: have 9K armor, and see what the average of 100 hits do, see the same with 10K armor, 11K ect.. Do this with everything there's possile. See if you're right about the caps. I'm up for it, I really want to crack this code.

      Thanks for reaching out. For now I'm covering the abattoirs of Zir. For now I unfortunately don't have plans on testing all that in PvP :-(

    You forgot to mention damage reduction from target debuffs. Like decrepify from necro, or doombringer.

    is DR against elites from paragon nodes worth taking?

      I read a few different thing when it comes to DR against elites. In some cases it seemed to work in other it didn't (depends on your build or damage type). I didn't specifically test that.

    How is lucky hit chance and critical strike chance calculated in PVP?

      I didn't test that specifically but I assume it works the same than PvE

    Is thorns barb banned for pvp tournament? It should be... but I like this video i love pvp and there lots of stuff that doesn't seem fair about it

      It is not. People are adapting their builds to have a positive matchup against it

    Soo DR caps at 45%, but you can stack all the different DR categories to 45% separately?

      I believe he was making the point that-if need be-we can stack them to make sure any given condition is met. In other words, you don't need DR while fortified/burning/poisoned, etc., if you already have the 45% covered from easier to meet conditions. Or vice/versa. If you choose to stack 30% DR while fortified and 15% DR from poisoned-you would have the 45% covered as long as your enemy was poisoned and you were fortified at the same time. No need for the 20% raw DR on the Shako in that scenario.
      The example he gave is good. 20% Shako, 18.9 DR from distant on two gear pieces=cap for anything "distant". But that leaves a hole in your conditions. In this scenario, you would only have 20% DR from the Shako while enemies are in "close" range and would have to add more DR from close. This is the same principle as PVE, it's just that PVE has no relative cap.
      Don't take most DR types that are conditional for PVP if you can help it. For example, you don't want to have to get another player burning so that your damage reduction is online against them-right? You should shoot for "always active" raw DR for instances of offscreen ranged, telestomps, fast runners, sneaky traps, stealthy surprises...anything you may not have time to react to. Otherwise you are taking a punch to the face and THEN putting your hands up to block, so to speak.

      No, the DR is calculated as a whole taking into account all conditions that are met. if condition A, B & C are met, then the DR from A and B and C are mutliplied together (in an inverted way) and that's your total DR

      Yup that's what I meant ^^ except DR is invert-multiplicative not additive. 30% DR while fortified and 15% DR while poisonned doesn't make 45% total DR, it makes 40.5% total DR

      Dr cap is calculated as all unconditional + any conditional that you will meet in a given fight

      @@ELY-qg2vn Yes. I learned recently that it is not capped at 45% but there is a hard drop off at 45% instead. Long story short, keep aiming for the 45% sweet spot

    Instead of having 2 pvp zones on each server, they should have dedicated servers to pvp only on the the entire map.

    sorry i dont believe 45% dmg reduction, on my druid i have much more, there are lot of sources in paragon and skills and i feel the difference when i put something away...are you 100% sure? is it new to this season?

      I got some additional information from pro players. After 45% DR there is a drop off, it is not hard capped but you get less than the value you think you have.

      @@samtarioss It is NOT capped, there is a hard drop off after 45. This is what has been reported to me

      @@Wismerhill_ that is what happens normally, with every dr u got even in pve, problem is probably that u already have 92% dmg reduction and i really doubt devs put this native pvp dmg reduction in different bracket, perhaps you think too much complicated, devs do lot of stupid mistakes and i dont think they made it as sofisticated as we suppose to..

    Are certain vanpric powers or ubers ban if not i can show a actually unbeatable build no matter if im vs 1 person or 15 people. Honesty all season stuff need to be disabled in pvp
