    Fender has already published a statement regarding this issue. All Serial Numbers starting from CHNAxxxx to CHNIxxxx are eligible for warranty repair. They can be sent in and the preamp board is going to be exchanged. Mine is a CHNJxxxx and has no hiss at all although running on 80% volume all the time.

    Send it back. I bought the FR-12 at Christmas and it hissed a little back then but the hiss has gotten louder. SEND IT BACK. If Fender doesn't fix my FR-12 I'm going to take them to small claims court. I am sick of this.

      I did end up sending it back. Might pick up another one in the future once the old versions have run their course.

    With only 3db difference between the three units you demonstrate that's relatively tight. However I'm unclear if they are similar in loudness and whether you have anything plugged in that is effecting this measurement. Sweetwater says the FR10 is 1000 watts and generates 130db SPL at 1 meter. If that's true then 44db seems pretty low.
    More important than 130db is probably what SPL you want to use it at? On stage 44db is nothing. If it's a pedal platform in a bedroom being used at 80-90 db SPL then I would probably be frustrated. You might want to do the measurement again at 1 meter, but if where you showed the meter is where you are going to put a mic then I totally get it.

      I can't tell that much from 6 feet away and definitely not at playing volume.

    Can I ask...Do you have the Tone Master Pro unit connected to the speakers? Or are these samples just the speaker with nothing connected?

    Hi Doc, I have one on backorder... I have severe tinnitus in my left ear at super high pitch. I think this may drive me nuts. I already have enough noise in my head!

    I'd say yours is in the newer batch and in acceptable range - though not as quiet as mine :)

      Maybe.... If yours is quiet then they all should be quiet unless you want to take in account any tolerance in the parts that would make mine different than yours.

    Next question then....Can you hear it from say 7-10 ft away?

    • @DoctorMcFarlandStudios
      @DoctorMcFarlandStudios  6 місяців тому

      Not really. It is slightly louder than the Laney. Definitely not at playing volume.

      On my FR-12 you can now. When I first bought it in December I couldn't but it seems the problem is getting worse with time.

    In comparison to the other amps I would keep it. The hiss frequency seems higher in the Fender; which could be more bothersome for some? I just got the Fender Tonemaster 12” FRFR (Sweetwater) and was worried about the hiss, but there is no hiss at all. I read somewhere that Fender resolved the hiss issue with the newest batch. With the one I just got about 2 weeks ago, that seems to be the case. Cheers.

      Fender isn't willing to trade mine out since it falls under "normal operation" though I have compared mine to a friends FR-12 and his is 5db quieter.

      If it’s still under the return policy from where you purchased it, then I would return it. The new one sounds great and has no hiss. Good luck

      Just ordered. An fr 10 today from sweet water if it has crazy hiss it’s going back. But from what I’ve been told it’s of the later batch so should be fine
