It's one of their newer design and I was excited but I was shocked and saddened to learn that they sold it to a company that only wants to get more money than protecting the brand's quality reputation, I even heard that reputable cobblers that repair Birkenstock refused to service any Birks(even the older, original design) now because of this. Like seriously, how expensive it can be to use real cork and they're selling it for $155?

@@wienvie8822 I haven't had any problems with the wear and tear of my Bends. I have since bought another pair of white leather for work purposes (wanted a cleaner, brighter white sneaker). Happy with all of my Bends.
I have these in white and have had them for almost two years and they remain super comfortable and show very little wear on the soles. The sticker showing the materials reads from top to bottom upper (100% Leather). inner sole (Leather and cork hence the two symbols) and the sole in this case is 100% natural rubber. The footbeds are made in Germany and the uppers as you say, Portugal. The leather is European ethically sourced and the rubber and cork components are all enviromentally and ethically sourced. If you are sharing the shoes with someone I would highly recommend getting a replacement set of inner soles for them as these soles mould to the foot after time so could cause comfort and support issues.
You are right. I am wearing my sandals all over the place even though I like shoes and work boots! I don't even like sandals but tried them after complaining about foot pain, and they do really take pressure off of pain points and redistribute it somehow. Now I am looking into either getting shoes like yours here, or their Birki Sport insoles that go into regular walking shoes.

Within the space of a month, I have purchased four Birkenstocks! They are so comfortable. I have an Arizona for outdoors, an Arizona for indoors all year round, and for the colder months in the UK, a couple of closed shoes; the Tracy's and Bend decons which pass the ankle. 😃

I am having some tibialis posteria problemes lately with my feet and wanted to try these shoes. I am concerded about the toebox - is there enough room in it are do the toes get crunshed?
There is plenty of room in the “normal” version of the shoe… but if you ever plan to wear them with very thick socks I would go for the “wide” version.

My first pair… the ones I painted black… those are 3 years old but only the last year did I wear them daily at work.. 12 hr shifts indoors vinyl flooring lost of walking…. 6 months into heavy use The outsole wore out…. Definitely the weakest part of the shoe is the bottom of the outsole… uppers roomy and comfortable the whole time

I was very negligent with my first pair… ended up dye-ing them black… This second pair I’m more selective to where I wear them… occasional cleaning with generic sneaker cleaner rids or suede eraser does it…
Look I wear the Birkenstocks QS700s every single day and I love them every single thing, I know the cross stitching is fake and possibly the leather is fake too but it is the ONLY shoe in the world in the category I need so until there’s any competition they can stay making bad products.

Regular are roomy already... so i would NoT go wide unless your feet are truly wide And as far a sizing we didn’t follow the website’s suggestion we tried them in store... My kid is 9.5 EE and he bought size 43 Im size 10.5 and 44 fits best for me Hope you find this helpful!

I haven’t looked into it much but my oldest pair…does need to be resole already…. I took it to the local cobbler but all he could offer were cupsoles that were not wide enough…we’ll check out the website if I manage to get them resoled I’ll post a video of the journey

As far as width… when in doubt I go wide… to wear them with thick socks specially in the cold… But if you are planning to wear them and style them sock-less… than the narrow fit would be fine their toebox is wide already by design
As far as the outsole… this particular model has gum soles I haven’t seen any crumbling yet… the pair that I dyed black is 4 years old and have been wearing daily for the last 6 months besides regular wear and tear they are perfect.
The narrow size seems standard, I have a wider spread of toes and narrow fits perfect. Regular width is maybe if one is very overweight or wears thick socks? I have the white bend. I walk almost every other day with them on long walks on uneven cobblestone for almost 9 months now and they show no damage on the exterior. Birkenstock has a repair service.
I have had my pair for almost two years and am reasonably heavy but my soles show very little wear and I walk a great deal. These are not like their traditional sandals in that respect as I have found where my heal strikes the ground the normal sandal soles last barely a summer before that section has worn down to the cork so I never wear the sandals now but their shoes are much better in that respect. I also have a pair of boots that are nearing five years old and they have plenty of life left in them!
Unless your feet are wide or you plan to wear them with thick socks, buy in narrow size. They 'wide' are called regular, on me they are hugely wide I can't even walk 5min..

Note that with sandals people normally don’t wear socks… with these shoes you might be compelled to wear socks so make sure you compensate for the thickness of the socks…
its too bad that it has fake cork. If you look at the dissections of other shoes from birken they put cork on the outside to make you think it has it when it doesn't.

Have fun getting those shoes resoled. All Birkenstock shoes are made in Portugal with a lower profile when it comes to the outer sole. It’s not hold up. Not even a month old, NOT the standard original Birkenstock outer sole 😡

The insoles are a good idea, however the other part of the comfort is in the roomy toe box

Is the shoe heavy for walking during vacations. I normally wear running shoes for light weight purposes.

The black ones I’ve taken them to work daily for the last 3 months for 12 hours shifts and they haven’t developed a smell either

But Instore 44 fitting felt roomier and better

Not heavy rain… but they been exposed to light rain and even front lawn sprinklers with no water damage…

Have fun getting those shoes resoled. All Birkenstock shoes are made in Portugal with a lower profile when it comes to the outer sole. It’s not hold up. Not even a month old, NOT the standard original Birkenstock outer sole 😡
