  • Welding's not my thing but I hope to be better at it by the time I'm done with the HR.

I'm Floored!!! Ha!!! Floors Are A Great Place To Learn This Kind Of Work!!! All Will Be Covered By Carpet!!! It's Tough Welding To Old Rusty Metal!!! You Did Just Fine!!! Now Welcome To My World!!!
I Was Just Thinking Yesterday That Of All The Fellas Who I Watch On The Tube You Are The Only One I Would Consider Having The Mechanic Skills I Have!!! As Mechanics We Are Equal In Skills!!! Add The Metal Work And The Race Is On!!! You Are Doing A Good Job So Far!!!
Keep Rocking It Out Down Under Ziggy!!!

Take your time short strips. Also let the metal cool down and blow air to help or the metal will warp.
    Doing good ziggy

I don't envy you....I absolutely hate having to do that stuff but it's a necessary evil with rusty old relics & near enough good enough with floorpans...doesn't hafta be a work of art....😛👍

Carter Auto Restyling has lots of useful vids on this type of work Zig. YOu might find that useful to watch. If my car was on the road i'd come and help you. It should be a runner by tomorrow arvo hopefully. cheers.

      the flux,
i mean if its gasless wire your using,
i have many freinds and a relative who are boiler maker welders one with emphasemia at only 32 another two my age pushing 60 almost at the point they need and oxgen concentrator all non smokers, ofcourse they were exposed to it all day every day , yet its still not the best for us.
i use a fan what a difference all the grinder crap and welding fumes begone LOL i use a ballsy fan though and i use gasless wire and mostly arcweld as gas bottles are pricey but those gas bottles and gas wire are in my future so much easier to weld and SEE what your doing the difference is like night n day such a pleasure to weld and the welds look so nice.
i think when using gasless mig wire the pos cable gets wired to neg terminal and the neg/earth cable gets plugged into the pos terminal, makes for a better weld or something, heard many welders say this.
