The axe is by far the most fun weapon in the game, imo. Knocking a behemoth out of an attack by hurling your axe at it is one of the most satisfying things ever.

Not good. I played it for 6-7 hours, but I ended up deleting the game. I think it's honestly worse than it was before. I really don't like what they did with the limiting of customization.
Can confirm, bounties are still around in Awakening. They still give hunt pass xp and they also grant aetherite, which is basically a stored xp item you can use to level your weapons faster. Neat thing with that is, you can do all your bounties with one weapon, and then use the aetherite to level a different one. You also get the stuff from Escalations.
For most difficult behemoths, my money is on Riftstalker, for newer players, then bloodshot shroud for more seasoned. Not including legendary behemoths.

Which is gonna be difficult to get used to since their focus on perks is taking a major shift to the side, holding only 1 or 2 activated perks at one time vs the 6-8 perks in this version. That's what kept bringing me back to the game was the RPG number crunching, managing crit chance and damage, measuring attack speed gains and core damage. But now pretty much all of that is gone and I'm not entirely sure what the focus of a build actually is anymore.

Man, Reforged was the absolute death of this game. I have 560 total hours logged into Dauntless and over 540 of that was probably all pre Reforged, and less than 20 was post Reforged. I won't be picking the game up again, but will at least be checking the new gear system out when it hits. Hopefully Phoenix Labs made a better system this time around that will at least let them pick up more numbers again. The game was an amazing F2P alternative to Monster Hunter before Reforged killed it off.
Gonna guess the Behemoth that gets most people might be something like Phaelanx or Bloodshot. Though the Behemoth that gets me the most is Stormclaw and especially its variant, which for all I care can go die in a fire.

I was thinking of jumping in again to check to see if they improved anything and checked the reddit first only to see the world on fire and that Phoenix Labs still never listened. Finally deleted it from my Xbox. Amazing how the game was actually more fun to play and in a better state in its alpha and beta and first PC/console release. No listening to content creators and other feedback was part of their downfall too.
I know someone already said this in the comments, but i think it'd be good if you checked what's coming in the awakening patch. Some of it is rather controversial.
i hate Shrike now i wear them and use a sword made from them. Ran into Phaelanx now I hate metal owlbear more, will bonk it with sword in spite of Ohdough scoffing at using sword.

I simply don't see myself using chainblades unless they get another rework. I've seen folks with 300 reforges on axe and this was close to a year ago at this point

At first, you had to get 10 reforges per weapon, but then they changed it to have 70 reforges in total since not everyone plays all the weapons.

use the cells and gear I had to do the same damage.

you get a crown for having 70 total reforges, you also get one for having a single reforge
