NORN had sailed up the River Thames from Kiel (Germany).
The video shows superyacht NORN approach Tower Bridge sailing upriver accompanied by the Port of London Authority (PLA) tender LAMBETH.
After showing NORN upriver of Tower Bridge waiting for the bridge to lift, the video then shows Tower Bridge lifting and NORN sailing under and passing downriver.

I’m sure it has a spectacular interior, but the exterior is rather angular and unattractive.

Garden shed more like it. It is amazing how much time and effort goes in to making such pointless objects as these oversized prestige motor boats with little practical purpose. Especially as we are constantly lectured and harangued on the extreme urgent necessity of living such frugal and austere lives ourselves.

His previous and smaller yacht Skat was better looking, imho. This has taken those ideas and blown them out of proportion. It has the menacing feeling of a 'Transformer toy.
Yes - I think that NORN is about 19m longer.

It has the profile of a military vessel. Almost mean looking in some ways. Not my cup of tea but quite the design and feat of modern engineering nonetheless.

If it's not used on the trans Atlantic route just where do you take a boat like this? It would be like using an F1 car to go into the City, for which you need a team of computer boffins just to start it up.
Thanks for watching. After leaving London, it sailed to Amsterdam and then Copenhagen. It departed from Copenhagen on 30th June but I don't know where it is sailing to at the moment.

Saw her today in London, really good looking yacht in my opinion but seems most do not agree... Well filmed as always!
Thanks 👍She is due away at 1pm on Friday. The next cruise ship up at HMS Belfast is National Geographic Explorer but she will only be there for just over 10 hours on Friday morning.

Confused. Is she’s just arriving why is going down river towards to sea? Was she moored or anchor before as certain she won’t find under London Bridge
She arrived from Kiel and sailed upriver through Tower Bridge. When through the bridge, she immediately turned around and spent about 20 minutes upriver of Tower Bridge before passing through Tower Bridge again in the downriver direction. She then moored at Georges Stairs (which is about 2 minutes downriver from Tower Bridge) and will stay there until Friday. As she is already pointing downriver, it will make her departure easier.
Impressive ship! Fascinating they still need a guy on front to watch a navigation.... thought it will have some cameras and sensors for such investment :)

Thanks👍Yes - I think the luxury yacht MARAE is meant to be leaving from St Katharine Docks at the same time. She sailed up to London a short time after Norn but unfortuantely I did not have time to stay around and film her.
@Thames Ships marae is only a sailing boat though or have I got that wrong.
@@UKShipspottingRailFreightTV Yes - you are correct 😃There are also some other superyachts moored at West India Dock (though I think that Phi is still "arrested" and won't be moving any time soon. The PLA web site still shows a movement for Phi from July of last year which never happened!) I believe that there is also a Mexican sailing ship due up to London some time soon.

Please explain. I see Tower Bridge lifting and I see Norn passing under it from West to East. Gjerkin is North and behind. It is not arriving. It is departing. Unless it came from Richmond.
The first few minutes of the video show NORN heading upriver (as is mentioned in the note at 0:06). At around 3:28, we see her passing HMS PRESIDENT which is also downriver of Tower Bridge and she is still heading upriver. After passing through Tower bridge heading in an upriver direction, she immediately turned around so that she was pointing downriver. She then sailed through Tower Bridge in the downriver direction. She then went to moor at Georges Stairs which is just downriver of Tower Bridge (as mentioned in the note at 11:46) and stayed at her London mooring (just downriver of Tower Bridge) for a few days until she departed.

Did you by chance get your up river and down river comments reversed?? If she entered the Thames from Germany, then she was down river of the bridge and once past under the bridge, she was then up river. Yes or No ?

Thanks for the kind comment. What I meant was when she entered the Thames from Germany she was sailing in the upriver direction. She then turned around and started sailing in a downriver direction. Sorry if it wasn't clear. 👍
