Tip from Dankpods: Put a piece of bluetack or something on the SD card to keep it from being kicked out if the iPod is dropped.

amazing work! I really miss iPods despite having Spotify and UA-cam music. I had an iPod nano 3, so pink it'd burn your eyes. Little thing did a full cycle in the washing machine AND dryer! It still worked for years after that, even a bloated battery couldn't stop it.

Another great video. Going to cruise through your channel and see if you did a segment on restoring/repairing a first gen click wheel ipod. I had one for many years and after watching your videos, got inspired to replace the mechanical HD with an SSD but now I can't find it. I'll keep looking - starting first in my kids' rooms :).
Goodness I LOVE the purple and red iPod Classics! Would love to have both and wish Apple actually made them in those colours!
I also really do not miss the days of the stainless steel backs on iPods. Way too easy to scratch and never liked the look of them anyways. The anodized aluminum backs always seemed to hold up much better.

These iPods are so neat as a piece of retro tech you can still use today, but man those clips are gonna keep me far away.
There's a website called elite obsolete that sells these pre-made, for not much more than the cost of an iPod and the custom parts.

Nice restoration of those iPods! It's crazy to see just how valuable those iPods are in Australia: I paid about £60 for mine about a year or so ago.
Also, one of those iPods has already sold out, and the other is on the Hugh Jeffreys store for $220 AUD. I would potentially purchase items myself (if needed) but shipping is only to Australia.
They’ve gone up in price because of a certain Australian who screams at nuggets and blows headphones up with a DAC.

A mild metalpolish compound and a polish pad on a dremel works wonders on the scratches on the back of these☺️
