  • My first time being on camera so don't laugh at me! I can only get better at it from here on out so feel free to like my videos and subscribe for updates on the garden. I want to show start to Finnish that this method works and works well so im trying my best to vlog my results and problems along the way. Please ask questions or give advice as needed thanks. This was filmed beginning of October 2015.

Know THAT'S how you start a garden!! Yes, the railroad ties are the best and you are correct in that it has lost creosote. Been using the BTE garden for 2-3 years and have had unbelievable results. With potatoes, I did what Paul said, just cover them with eight inches of woodchips. I had the most beautiful potatoes ever (no digging entailed)! The first year of BTE you will weed some but it will be less and less every year. I know plant carrots and never weed. If you see a few weeds after 2 years, it just means you have to put down a little more mulch. As he (Paul) said, just layer. If you have patience, it will work! Happy gardening!

Yes ma'am i did the BTE for 4 years with wonderful results my biggest enemy is Bermuda grass but if i can keep up with getting rid of the rezones i will beat it as well.

+EdensGardenShed Well then, you're a pro! You need to teach me a few things! Yeah...I'm pulling Bermuda too but less everytime.

+cookinmom I am not a pro thats why i do the BTE anyone can do it with amazing results. I now have people wanting me to help them with their landscapes its hard to tell them i have no idea about how to garden the traditional ways with chemicals and fertilizers. I have never needed them so i have no clue but i can put down some mulch and grow awesome stuff over time and look like a pro..

Good Video, most people don't do the railroad ties. I think they will help keep the grass out. Good job.

Thanks Eric white many fear the creosote but i am convinced that after many years of service these ties have released what they are going to release. I have lots of Bermuda grass problems so a border is mandatory.

If you put compost over paper and before chips you can garden right away.

I personally would put the compost over the grass under the paper if using compost. Roots grow into the ground. So if you put compost over paper they would travel sideways on top of the paper until paper breaks down and not down to the moisture. You may have to water more. I plant right away breaking through paper and roots into dirt.
