    Wish I had a lift. Most of the time I am just instructing my boys anymore. Because if I even bend down for 15 minutes pain is horrible. I fractured 3 disks in a bomb blast in Iraq. So a lift would allow me to work more with them.

    I know a guy who works on bikes in his garage. He has a lift like yours. But he cut a hole in his floor with the help of his cement worker friend. Now when the lift is all the way down the top of the lift and the floor is level with each other. No more driving up a ramp and don't have to worry about tripping on the lift when it is down. Wasn't cheap but so convenient.

      Hi Manuel,
      yes, we now have a very nice low-profile 600kgs ‘electro’ workbench available - which can also be ‘flush-mounted’… but of course you’ll need to do some minor excavation…
      It doesn’t need air - and plugs into a domestic 240V/10amp wall outlet. Very, very smooth hassle-free operation…
      New to Australia and a new product for us - so not on the Hero Hoists website yet.
      But of course you can make an enquiry through the website to get the spec sheet and pricing…
      We can offer OND subscribers a $200.00 discount on it…
      Thx, Rohan
      Hero Hoists

      Good point, my lift skips across the floor when I drive up on it unless I brace it against the wall, I always thought imbedding in the floor is ideal.

    100% agree with your choices mate, the pdf Harley manual I got had 2 slightly different manuals that covered later years, got my lift 5 years ago and it saved my knees and back greatly, I have a Mikuni HSR 45 and can adjust it myself, old boilermaker with enough mechanical skills to be dangerous, but yes we are always learning and online research is part of the fun.

    100%, sick n tired of lying on the ground. Funny you mention cleaning while on the lift, last weekend I was having some work done on my other bike, and on the lift noticed oil on the other side of the head to where I was replacing the part. Turns out a few o rings had perished, so had them replaced too. I’m now saving for a good lift, I’m more likely to want to work on the bikes if I’m not on the ground.

    Another interesting and informative video and I have another tip regarding your bike lift. If you lay face down on it and raise and lower it repeatedly, you'll fool your body into thinking it's doing push ups. You can work out and not break a sweat! 😉

    the most important harley upgrade is a boxer. I loved my boxers. Sammy lived 15 years and Bugera die to soon with cancer. I still have Izzi( pitbull) and in a month she'll be 17. thats the dog i tour with but i really miss my boxers.
    Sam used to hide around the corner when i was comming up from the basement, and like kato spring out and try to punch me with the goofiest look on his face. Id box him for a while before i came up.

    Another great video mate. All valid comments! DIY can be empowering and educational at the same time, and having a decent lift is a must....for us old bastards with bad backs! 😉 Listening to your bike when riding is also a must....learn to hear things out of the ordinary and also haptic responses with the way things feel are also important. If it doesn't sound or feel right....look and do something about it! Ride safe mate!! 😎

      Yup, we have a dedicated UTV Workbench too…
      And, our 1000kgs ‘electro’ Motorcycle Workbench can accept ATV Panels and a front extension panel too…
      It has both front and rear drop-down panels - and doesn’t need air. An integrated power unit and an optional Portability Kit make it very versatile…
      OND viewers get the Portability Kit for FREE, and 10% off any accessories…
      We don’t compromise on quality… that’s why Aymen chose a Lift King Motorcycle Workbench…

    Just realized you recommended exactly the same 3 things I did at the beginning of the video!
    3 most fundamental steps.
    I need the side steps on my lift because it's a little hairy sometimes with no where to put my feet!
    I bought traction tape to grip the tire to the lift. Wish I could show you a photo from USA mate.
    I also have the Power Vision Tuner with 2 licenses, 1 for each bike. My 2012 FAT BOB & 2019 Roadster! You can constantly update the auto tune and get your bike finely tuned.

    Closest harley Dealer to me is about 2 hours. So its easier to go there and buy the parts or have them mailed and then do the work myself at my pace.
    I built an air bag lift table which makes working on the bike so much easier.
    Tyres, drive belts, forks, and handle bars etc, all easy enough to do myself. On a Softail.
    As you said its very rewarding and fun to fit new products and repair your own bike.

    I have two of the three, I will be getting a tuner soon, and from fuel Moto, I agree what an outstanding value they give for setting up your tune just from purchasing from them, why would I buy a tuner from someone else. that’s an awesome marketing tool they use, hope they never go away from that. I always look to them first.
    UPDATE: I just purchased the tuner from fuel moto, let your subscribers know, currently fuel moto has the tuners on sale plus an added $25.00 Christmas discount.

    Go to the hardware or grocery store and ask the manager for some big pieces of cardboard. They are great to lay on the floor next to your lift and when you're done, just store them behind the big cabinet in the garage.

    • @OldNotDead-Club
      @OldNotDead-Club  5 місяців тому

      You will have to explain that one?

    • @thejerseyj5479
      @thejerseyj5479 5 місяців тому +2

      @OldNotDead-Club I think he means the cardboard is easier on the feet and legs as opposed to a cold, hard concrete floor. Either that or you can lay on the cardboard and work on your bike with the lift down. 🤪 But, I would bet he means the first option.
