Some tetras I hadn't heard of in here. I'm about to set up a 100-gallon tank I recently acquired and this has me wanting to just fill it with several different types of tetras! In addition to the ones you mentioned, I love cardinal and ember tetras!
Diamond tetras comes from a few small tributaries to the lake Valencia since it is extinct in that lake together with many other fish species due to pollution so it is even more important to breed these and keep them.
Panda Tertas are a favorite but I had a small group of six and they were nippers. Eventually I rehomed them but will try them again. Soon after our LFS stocked Reed Tetras instead and I’ve got two dozen of those!
The Dawn Tetra does need to be kept in larger groups if kept in a mixed community... I had a shoal which dwindled down to a single fish (they are jumpers, and even though I had a cover glass, they managed to find the narrowest gaps and escape). And that lone remaining fish terrorised everything else: the tank looked empty because everything else hid permanently in the plants!
Cochus Blue tetra are a great blue fish. If you can get them at a good price I would really recommend them but I know they are still pretty expensive in some parts of the country.
I have a similar fish as the panda tetra. Pseodocheirodon arnoldi from Panama. Got them at a fish club auction. I asked Oliver about them but he had never seen the species.
I like most Tetras, but I actually like the common ones. I have a 40 gal. with Cardinal and Rummynose Tetras, kinda gives it that red white and blue look witch I love!
I can get 20 tetras or rasboras for $30 at my fish store. All kinds mix and match, including rummy nose, neons, black neons, cardinal, serpae, and lots of other kinds

Green fire tetras also do well in unheated aquariums and go well with smaller gymnogeophagus.

Dawn tetras are very aggressive!
Big fan of black neons!
I picked up 10 black emperor tetras from an LFS for less than $5 each. The black to purple body with the blue eyes is really stunning.
the orange is a different color morph of the red von rio, but both are beautiful

Black neons are dope and I actually prefer the palmeri emperor tetras because that trident tail is awesome.
great list thanks!
green fire tetras are so cool. never seen them in the LFS though.
Love affordable Tetras that are peaceful and look amazing
Looking for the dawn tetra. Will they nip at the Hastatus?
My favorite at the moment are penguin tetras.

Beautiful fish! Give them all brine shrimp and stock with tons of plants, they will colour up so well👍
Great choice
