    What I love about your tutorial is it is very concise and you cover every single thing we need to know. I thought at first it was long, so I found a very quick one, and I had to come back to you as I simply did not get what I needed, and other tutorials miss out the very basics, which, with a menu like this, is almost impossible to guess. Thank you so much, it is wonderful, insightful, clever, clear, bold, simple to understand, and you don't use all those awful gimmicks and large texts and transistions. and I tell everyone I know to watch this! FANTASTIC

    Jason - maybe you could consider making a brief video on the specific settings / camera position/ for UA-cam Shorts - this camera has multiple settings so which would be the best settings for vertical videos or is it simply just a case of turning the camera into the vertical position and recording for up to one minute ?

    • @Jason_Hermann

      Yes, you just need to turn the camera vertically and use AUTO Mode if your not sure what settings to use. I'll see what I can do in the future, but I don't have the camera in hand anymore at the moment...

    THANKS SO MUCH for this full overview JASON !!!
    Do you guys have any tips to keep the ZV1-II from always opening when it´s in your pockets or bag!?
    My only reliable solution has been to
    (a) pray it doesn´t,
    (b) attached a neck strap ( with a cage mounted on it from Small Rig) and wear it
    (c) well, I don´t want to put it in a camera case or something cause that defeats the purpose of having it at hand to shoot ( mostly using it as travel/street/vlog camera).
    Also what´s your favorite PP profile you guys are using? Greets from Berlin.

    I have been using this camera for about 5 months now and I am having an issue with lighting. I film in a room with abundant natural light, which looks fantastic when I am looking directly at the camera. However, when I am demonstrating exercises or moving around, the camera will get very dark and underexposed. Sometimes I look at the camera to "recalibrate" it before I start demonstrating the exercises, but as soon as I look away the exposure changes drastically. I have it on intelligent auto mode, which could be the problem. If you have any insight on this I would appreciate it so much!

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  8 місяців тому

      Yeah this is a tuff situation if the lighting is changing in the room especially. What the camera is doing is balancing the exposure with the given scene "automatically", with facial priority also, so that is why when you are close it looks great on you, but when you get farther away it is averaging the exposure for the entire room. What you can do is set the camera to manual mode and dial in the given settings so it looks great, and then nothing will change as you move around the room.

    • @FlexAbilitiesLLC
      @FlexAbilitiesLLC 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Jason_Hermann Thank you so much for your reply. I will have to play around with the manual setting again. I tried setting it to manual and getting the exposure right, but it kept doing the light-to-dark thing when I turned sideways or transitioned to the floor. I am starting to wonder if I bought the wrong camera or if I just need to learn how to use it the right way. 😬

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  7 місяців тому

      @@FlexAbilitiesLLC You need to take the ISO off Auto and hard set it to like ISO 100 for example in manual mode. If you leave the ISO on Auto it will adjust the exposure as it changes, so you need to hard set it. Full Manual mode is required and you can do it! I would start at ISO 100, Shutter speed at 1/50sec and then the Aperture you can dial in until the exposure is at 0. I would start there and your aperture might end up being f/4 or possible f/8 even, but it depends on the light in the room.

    Excellent video thank you so much. I am going in to buy one tomorrow. So you can’t post the video or image straight to social media from the phone. It has to go to your phone or your computer? Will there be any loss of quality through the process? In another UA-cam review they said the video record time was only four minutes, that her camera stops recording at four minutes and overheats. is this true?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому +1

      You can share from the phone if you copy the files over and the quality depends on how you have the camera set. You can copy over raw photos or have the camera convert them to lower res jegs which is what I usually do. Video is harder, because phones struggle with the formats, but in theory if you have a really powerful phone video should work also.

      Just the battery indicator on the top right is all there is... Highly recommend having a few spare batteries with you if traveling... geni.us/2BcUHzN

    I've recently been considering purchasing a camera with the goal of using it for vlogging. I've noticed some bloggers using some elevated footage as Broll in their videos and really like the idea. I'd like to know, for the second generation body, was the HFR feature removed from the first generation body? I'm wondering if this will have some impact on vlogging, especially when adding some elevated shots. Based on your experience, would you recommend that I purchase a Gen 1 body or a Gen 2 body? Thanks!

    Hello,
    I bough this camera to video tape family videos. I am a newbie.
    Should i record at 4k 24 like you suggested or just HD?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  5 місяців тому +1

      Totally up to you. 4k is just higher resolution, so it will look better on 4k devices, but not really need if sharing on social media for example.

      @Jason_Hermann I took maybe 35min of video on 4k and it takes sooo long to upload to drop box. Is that normal? It's been 2 hourd

    Great video! Does this camera allow audio devices such as a blue yeti to be connected to it?

    Is there a way to add a date stamp to your photos?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому +1

      Not that I am aware of no... You can check the date and time in the playback menu though if you press the display button, or you can sort by date in the playback menu as well. The Date is saved to the Exif data in the photo file itself also, but you need to make sure the camera's time and date are correct as well.

    I have this camera and I must say that I’m a bit frustrated.
    I’ve been trying to make camera settings, 1,2 and 3. Every time I attempt to save settings in #2 it over rides my settings in #1. I turn the camera off after it says registered. I thought the update to firmware would solve the problem but no luck. Any suggestions?

      No I do not have any idea why that would happen, sorry... I would give Sony tech support a call on that one. Have you tried removing the battery and putting it back in? That sounds weird!

    How do you set 4k in S&Q Mode?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  10 місяців тому

      The record mode is under your record settings just like regular video... MENU → (Shooting) → [Image Quality/Rec] → [File Format] → XAVC S 4K

    • @dadspaidads
      @dadspaidads 10 місяців тому +1

      When I record in In Video Mode is record at 4k 30p, but when I switch to S&Q Mode it switches back to HD at 30p 🤨@@Jason_Hermann

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  10 місяців тому

      @@dadspaidads Well that is a separate mode of the camera, so when the camera is set to "S&Q Mode" go into the video settings and set it to 4k etc...

    • @dadspaidads
      @dadspaidads 10 місяців тому

      Thank you I really apprecatie you insight. When I go into S&Q MODE... Then to file format. It says This Operation or Setting not available. @@Jason_Hermann
