Incredible engineering by these companies ....always liked them ...I did hear some B&W speakers a few years ago at my dealer at London Audio ..I think they were the top of the line ...and I couldnt believe my ears...I didnt know bass could go that low and sound so ...I am at a loss for words to describe it..just something you have to hear yourself ! Enjoy your experience with this top of the line gear...it leaves you in complete awe..Now to win the lottery! lol!
B&W always sounds great. They make some CT speakers(custom theater) and they are very impressive.

Basically doing what a differential input does in a slightly different way. Very good idea great way to reduce basically all noise.
Great job with the biamp section, so happy you recorded this. The guy from McIntosh did a superb job explaining pitfalls of biamping solid state and tubes. I like mc901 but I'm concerned it generates too much heat. The 462 may not be enough power for the bass , 300 watts, for my 802 D3's. I currently have a 600 W mac Mono amplifiers (611 model). Strange that heat deters me more than the price.

Me,my 2 brothers & father went to a audio demo at World Wide Stereo! We seen & heard the B & W’s plus the McIntosh. Those speakers sounded amazing with the McIntosh’s!

This guy is a valuable resource. He is like an ancient relic which you can use to see back in time. He speaks so slow, the words take a few light years to reach your ears. These time travelling frequencies are literally filled with historic and scientific data which scientists can use to decipher universe mysteries.

You don’t need much power to drive the speaker but you are using 2kw/channel?
I have the 705 s3. I also have a B&W sub. Now my dilemma, I have it hooked up to a Hegel 190. Seems a good match, but would McIntosh change the sound that much? The Hegel is 150w, so could handle the Mac amps?

No, Wilson Audio WAMM Master Chronosonic (weight 1690 pounds) and Boulder Audio 3050 Amplifier (weight 380 pounds)
I auditioned a pair of 702 S3 in a controlled room. I was sad to say I was not impressed. I put my ears up to the tweeter and it sounded the same as my Def Tech 8060s I have a home but a little more bright. I was hoping for perfect clearity of the highs. I will bring my speakers to the store to compare them later this year. I really had I expectations for these speakers.
So knowledgeable... wish I had the $$ to afford the Mac's. I have the B&W's but will never be able to afford a worthy amp.
What are you currently powering them with?

Pick up a pair of Schiit Audio Tyr mono- blocks. I have them on my B&W Matrix 805s and they are my end-game amplifiers. They control the speakers with an iron grip, while sounding extremely neutral and transparent. Best value out there, bar none.
Ideal combo when you have 100.000€ / £ / $ in excess on your bank account.
And the big living room to go with.

I literally just got a pair of 704 s2 from Best Buy over the weekend. $800 including tax with a minor chip on one at the bottom. I feel like I stole them.

Highway robbery. I started out with B&W DM6s 45 years ago. Moved up to 801 S2s, and have owned Matrix 805s for 26 years.
One thing they never explain is the price
First they sell you product without price, when sold, they tell you the price once committed

That McIntosh logo is probably the worst in the HiFi world and doesn't do justice to the quality of such equipment.

audiophile amps in 2024 is just wrong, we can buy a 1k& Hypex Class D amp kit and it will perform better than any 50k mcintosh amp
2kw monos are stupid, three chassis is stupid. 1.2 make more sense. Three chassis amplifiers a really really stupid. 2 chassis mono amplifiers seem to be more appropriate but that's normally not done.
Guy from McIntosh did a great job explaining the 2kw monos. But they still seem kind of ridiculous

Apologies for the critic but get a new cameraman. The Hatoriad Cowboy is talking... yes... with his hands. Focus on the product he is presenting to us. Also take a step or two back to take in the whole product and then move in when he is focusing on the details of the product.

Oddly my friends b&W sub went out today while I was at his place e and he called B&W support who told him to call geek squad at Best Buy who subsequently told him they don’t repair B&W…Chinese crap with crappy support…I feel sorry for you folks ..BTW my IPhone 15pro max which I’m typing on ,is made in India.
