    Pete said: “ My only children are my websites and I can’t bring them on a cruises with me”.
    That’s because the Internet sucks on a Disney Cruise. 🤣🤣🤣

    As someone who has taken all Disney cruises solo….yes, yes I did. I. HAD. A. BLAST. I had so much things to do, I literally could not fit everything in. Spa, trivia’s, bingo, Broadway shoes, movies, eating, lounging by the pool, lounging IN the pool, water slides, ice cream, mixology tasting, martini tastings, chocolate and liquor pairings, massages, pedicures, browsing the shops, enjoying my chocolates on my veranda with my books, walking around the decks, miniature golf, adult coffee shop, adult pubs (various), listening to live music, activities in D Lounge, Castaway Cay I biked around forever with my straw hat flying behind me, snorkeled and looked at all the Disney stuff underwater, paddle boarded, played in the water slides, napped on the beach, ate a ton of ice cream, browsed more shops, and then there was the stuff I couldn’t squeeze in…which was everything else I didn’t name. 😂😂😂 I rarely hung out in kids areas. I kept to the adults only areas except for all water slides. I usually go solo to Aulani and all the parks too.

    YES, Disney (DCL) is not just for people with children or a traditional family with children. My husband and I are in our 40s, have no children, we do love Disney, and appreciate the level of service and comfort we have on those ships. We are not gamblers and aren’t interested in a “booze cruise” atmosphere. We enjoy the adult only areas and have a great time. Looking forward to our next cruise (hopefully) soon!

      This is great to know! My wife and I are 61 and are looking to try one of these cruises (we had done an Alaska cruise about 25 years ago and loved it, but haven't done it since. Now, as DVC members we always wondered about it.

    I have no children, and Disney is my favorite cruise line, hands down, bar none. The service is exceptional (Disney's forte) and there were plenty of adult-only spaces, where they really meant ADULT ONLY. One of my favorite cruise stories is the one I tell about cruising on the Disney Fantasy a few years ago. We were relaxing at the adult only pool when a women and her little boy came into the space. Before they even had a chance to spread their towels on a pool chair, a crew member very kindly told her that she was welcomed to stay, but her child was not allowed. The woman protested by saying that there wasn't any room at the children's or family pools. But the Disney crew member was adamant and kindly told her again that she must leave. He was very polite and calm, but insisted that she could not stay with her son in tow. Finally, the woman relented and left. I applauded that crew member and Disney Cruise Line, especially since I have sailed on other cruise lines where children were allowed in totally inappropriate and adult only spaces, without adult supervision, without anything being said or done by crew members. I remember an incident where my husband and I wanted a drink and couldn't even get a seat at the bar because kids were sitting in them and nobody said a thing or tried to "shoo" them. I don't remember on which cruise line this happened, but I remarked to my hubby that, 'This would never happen on Disney Cruise Line". Thank you Disney for enforcing the rules.

    Besides, I’m now cruising with my adult children. Disney has service a cut above the rest.

    We are child free and avid cruisers. We have often thought of going on a Disney cruise as we live in Florida. We always thought it would be geared more for kids (which I am sure it is) but I am hearing a lot of positives regarding the adults only areas. Nothing against the kiddos but we enjoy quiet time. We also thought we would look "strange" by not having kids in tow. It seems more and more child free, empty nesters, couples, solos etc are sailing with Disney and loving it! We are seriously considering DCL. Thanks for the video!

    An interesting note about the Wish. The Adult pool area has been moved to the back of the ship, behind the most aft elevators. I think that is really going to help with the walkthrough traffic that the other ships struggle with.

    DCL does a terrific job for both adults and kids. The area they could improve is tweens and teens. My teen had fun, but it was disappointing that those spaces seemed thrown together. They have cool seating, the teen area does have it's own small pool, and there is a game console. My kid likes gaming so he had fun, but teens would appriciate unique and specially designed elements in their clubs too.

    I'm an adult and went on my first cruise ever with DCL last year.
    Only downside for me was having to experience the cruise with COVID protocols (and terrible wifi). That and running around thr ship for photo ops with the unlimited package. Gonna have to weigh my options on that next time.
    But I loved just exploring, participating in trivia; seeing the live shows, etc. The dinners were great and I even enjoyed the Palo brunch (not sure I'd do it again until I reach platinum...if I ever do...). Plenty of boozy opportunities as well (did Mixology and Champagne tasting). So given that and not beinging the biggest gambler, DCL felt right

    Multi patinum cruiser here, and while we do take our kids on the cruise, they are of the age now where they do their thing, and we do our, and we all have a great time.
    Well, HAD a great time... We have a Wish cruise booked in June, but unless Disney stops treating their cruises like plague ships, we'll be cancelling and looking for something else. It's too much money to be force into crazy protocols, inability to see smiles, and getting rid of character interactions. We're at a point where we're looking for fun, and the super-lockdown-cruise just isn't it.

    I am an upper middle-aged woman who would be traveling by herself. I'm interested in trying out a Disney cruise. My family and grandkids are interested, but their availability is far lessened. So if I went by myself, what is the dining room situation going to be like? Am I going to be put at a table by myself? Am I going to be put at a table with a family with kids so I feel like I'm a distant aunt? Do they put adults traveling without kids in tables together where you would have regular dinner conversations with the same group of childless folks? How would that work?

    • @unvoicedapollo3318
      @unvoicedapollo3318 3 роки тому +1

      Please bear in mind this is from research and experiencing only one cruise with DCL back in December.
      With the current COVID situation, you will likely have a table to yourself as they do not want to put parties who aren't travel together.
      If we assume pre-pandemic, they tend to automated assign guests second dining (usually somewhere between 8 & 8:30) & guests can sign on to try to alter it to first dining (usually between 5 & 5:30).
      Going by my research, second dining tends to have less families and more older demographics. Pre pandemic, you might have to share with another party but as I understand it, they tried to match parties as best as possible.

      So pre Covid they paired solo cruisers together. My table mates were very lively and happy. You’d never know we started off as strangers. I was on a Christmas cruise just now, and they did seat me solo for Covid protocols. Now, if this bothers you, you can always skip the dinners in the restaurants and either go eat at Cabanas or order room service (Disney’s is free). You can also eat at Remy or Palo which is much smaller and easier to blend in if you’re shy.

    • @MJD123
      @MJD123 3 роки тому +1

      with the new covid protocols, they would put you by yourself. Pre-covid when they sat different parties together, they did a great job "matching" people.... they would put us with a family with similar aged kids, they would put a few solo cruisers or small adult only groups together. We are TOTAL introverts as a family LOL ( not the kind of people who make friends everywhere) So ever since our first cruise we request to have our own table. Theres been only 1 where they couldn't make it happen. But the times we did have to "share" a table, they really do a nice job trying to match up similar groups!

    Suspended from the disboards for this comment... Just a thought experiment here, and I'm sure I'll be lambasted in the comments. Is Pete losing his touch with some Disney fans?
    His out of touch nature with the working class isn't even an issue that I'll discuss any further than this very comment.
    First, the "Why I'm not cancelling my Disney cruise" segment. As he broadcasts, with congestion abound, he emphasizes that he's going on a cruise in one week. "Are we going to hide in a corner and wait for Covid to stop being a thing, or are we going to start learning to live along side of it, accepting the fact that we might get it." Then proceeds to talk about his comorbitities, my point is, it's not about him. It's about Pete bringing the disease back to the public, in general, because he chooses to expose himself to the disease. He shops at your stores, frequents your businesses. Irresponsible at the least. Yes, I'll get it, but I'm grossly aware of whom I may expose.
    Second, the "Disney Dining" channel. Yes, there's a plethora of 5 minute segments about a treat, or dish, you've probably already tried. Fish and chips? Satu'li canteen? Tacos at ABC commissary? My concern is that it's turned into a food network show. How to cook... Cheddar bacon soup, sweet potato casserole, pot roast, pork chop tenderloin, blueberry cobbler, etc. If I wanted recipes I would tune into Food Network, not a Disney based channel. I'm not the only one that has tuned out. It's Disney dining, not cooking stuff that you ate at Disney. The last Disney dining review of a restaurant, with Pete, was October 15th, 2021, with 27,000 views it remains the most viewed video since that video's debut, it was a dinner review for Steakhouse 71. The previous highlight was October 2, 2021 with 28,000 views and it was a review of Steakhouse 71 breakfast. Please note the dates... October. Yes, they don't owe us anything, but my premise is that Pete is losing touch with some Disney fans. If he's willing to go on a cruise, could he show up for a restaurant at Disney World? They don't owe us anything, but these UA-cam pages are there advertising, anyone watch "Eating Around the World at Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2022"? Awkward...
    Thirdly, You argue that he's trying to recoup from covid? I get that. Why is the last dreams unlimited video from a month ago, about a celebrity cruise, and the last video before that is 9 months ago? You're ready for cruises, fire up information about traveling. Your last Dis Unplugged show that you attended, you limited the attendance to three people due to Covid, but cruises are ok for the rest of us?
    I've been invested in this channel for 8 years and I spent a lot of time thinking Pete was spot on. I have not felt that way for about a year. It seems he's floundering, and the uncertainty in his employees nature belies that sentiment. They will protest, but body language does not lie.
    I'm curious if anything else has noticed/felt this. The sycophants will march in line. Just wondering if anyone else has seen Pete losing his connection with a Disney fan.
    Suspended for rules violations...hmm.

      Wow. This was all over the place, and as long winded as it was, not very well thought out. It also seems misplaced. How can we expect consistency when the rules keep changing? How can we ask so much from somebody who was financially impacted so heavily during COVID? His largest business made no money for a year, yet he kept paying his employees by using funds from other business ventures instead of pocketing it for himself. As far as content goes-It’s okay to experiment and diversify. Pete has a HUGE following of DVC members, so the cooking show in the villas is an attractive concept to those people. If Pete wants to accept the fact that COVID isn’t going away and continue to live his life while also recognizing that it’s still a danger so limit the number of people in his studio, he is allowed to do that.
      Not everything has to be all or nothing in this world. Not everything has to be up for debate. Pete opens himself up for critiques and criticism as a cost of doing business in the entertainment sector. He invites us into his home and his life and shares his experiences with us. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to watch. Going on ridiculous tirades in the comment sections of videos is frankly a little pathetic.
      Pete isn’t old, but he is getting older just like the rest of us day by day. He runs a travel company (one of the largest in this nice category) a booming real estate business, and a very large and diverse entertainment and content company that spans video, print, and radio with myriad of different subject matters including a Spanish language channel.
      He’s busy- so he hires managers and employees to do these things for him while he handles the day to day. That’s how businesses run, that’s how businesses scale and grow. I understand how you feel, largely I tune in to see Pete, Paul, Amy, Elaine, and John Magi. If one of those people aren’t on a show I don’t always stick around, but I also understand that his other employees do an objectively good job in their content creation and delivery and that he is smart to leverage those talents so he can step back when he needs to.
      Pete is entitled to run his businesses however he sees fit, he is entitled to live his life and enjoy himself, and he is entitled to produce his shows and limit people in his home as he sees fit. That’s the joy of being a financially independent adult in America. You should grow up and just move on if you don’t like what you’re seeing or hearing. Also climb down off your COVID pedestal, nobody cares how perfect you are bro.
