Agree with your views/opinions… you are completely right. I play so much ranked SPvP in gw2.. I think one thing that can help, join an active SPvP focused guild where you can go to private servers and have fun with a heap of folks who too are into PvP and want to improve. Not only do you play. But you talk it out and learn too!
Spot on take. As a "casual" pvp player with tier 3 gold rating, the most annoying thing is the negative attitude losers who go afk after the other team goes away with around 50-100 points different. Afk should be much more punishable!!
not just a good mindset for sPvP but life in general :D I really wish Janet would push (no not like that!!!!) sPvP to a better place to get more players in the queue. So many issues would be resolved simply by having more people playing it. Pipe dream I know, but it's a nice thought.
I just started GW2 and I was hesitant to PvP but it turned out good. Even though I had no strategy or experience I wasn't dunked on so far in unranked.
I want to like PvP... But it is very demoralizing to have: 1. The self proclaimed "good player" on your team quit mid match. 2. The self proclaimed "amazing player" trash talk the whole team or call you out. (one negative comment can impact a whole night's worth of gameplay) 3. Play in a match where you get CC'd so much you can't use your skill bar. 4. Die instantly due to low hp and being focus fired by 2-3 enemies. 5. Have virtually no shot at winning a 1v1 and learn to avoid that setup at all costs. 6. Feel like the only thing you can do in some matches is cap points or die. 7. Feel bad for an opposing player after you've dropped him 3 times. 8. Be frustrated in a match where you're finally do ok with combat but no one on your team is capping.
I can understand all of your points and it is okay to not play PvP if you find it to demoralizing. In the end it is a game after all and games are for fun (mostly). Maybe you can come back to PvP another day. That's what I do at least, when I am getting to frustrated! And I agress with scullyy sometimes a less pressuring environment like WvW can help to learn competitive play as well!
@@SyrmaGaming thank you for the encouragement. I have learned a lot about pvp from your videos and I do keep getting better. Some nights it is more relaxing to roam janthir wilds for treasure boxes. And I'm planning to dig into your content on fishing and learn that as a way to get gold and decompress if pvp gets too intense.
@@matthewmcguigan4293 Sure, I am always happy to help! And that's exactly how I play GW2: go for the game mode that you find the most fun at a certain moment and not stick to one all the time. If it is not fun anymore, go somewhere else on a hour to hour basis actually!
Hey Mathew! If you are on NA servers and want a PvP buddy, add me and I’ll be happy to goof around with you. I ain’t the best player but I can also invite you to a PvP focused guild with other people who have lots of fun. Arimir.5864
As a player who gave PvP/sPvP a go during one of the 5v5 seasons a couple years back, I have to say every time I see someone do a video like this it motivates me to go back and give it another go. Then reality kicks in. I understand it's competitive, but the people who que up and/or sit in the lobby are some of the most degenerate people in gaming. What ultimately got me to stop is playing PvP altogether is some dude trolling me because I was playing core guardian. He kept calling me f2p, and even after linking one of my gen 2 legendary weapons he kept going at me. I know I'm not a great player. I can hold my own in raids, strikes, fractals and WvW, and I can solo just about everything (non-meta) in the open world, but to have a player just sit in chat and harp on something like that made me decide I don't want to deal with the toxicity involved in PvP. Based on my experience, the most toxic players across mmo's that I've played, GW2 PvP has the most toxic. If all the other game modes weren't so fun and the people in those game modes weren't so helpful then I could see PvP maybe gain some steam. However, because WvW is a competitive option, and the people in WvW are soooooo much nicer and more welcoming to newer players PvP will remain dead.
@@jaredfink5146 hey... I got one shotted a couple times by a core guardian player recently. Was that you?! I'm serious by the way. Core Guardians can be dangerous in PvP in my opinion.
I don't think someone who rages has ever been the good player on their team. I don't know what I can say to you, it seems you are more sensitive than me and maybe that's a good thing in general life. But for competitive things you want thick skin.
I could not agree more with scullyy's statement: most people that rage are not good enough to make such calls anyway. But if you get annoyed or even offended by those statements then PvP is sadly not a good options. There are always just a few bad apples in the bunch that make the game less enjoyable for the rest; so sad :(
@@SyrmaGaming Like telling someone in a YT chat they have thin skin? Every single toxic PvPer says that. I have watched it done to others and had enough of it on the receiving end. No worries! I asked for your opinions after all! And like I said, I get your points, I just hope, you don't quit PvP all together as we need more not less players :)

Yes, having a community of some kind is always very helpful in MMOs especially in PvP! It makes the game so much more enjoyable imo!
